These two Stage Settings include the incredible clav sounds on from the PX-5S, this time featured without the wah-wah effect. The Amp selector is still in place on slider 2 and speaker tone on slider 3 and of course distortion on slider 1 giving you incredible number of variations possible with just a few simple tweaks.

A Stage Setting Template with 4 active zones. Sliders 1-4 control the volume of each zone.
  3. Within the next two weeks. Maybe July 2nd. I started a thread in the XW section.
  4. We just finished a clinic on the PX-5S tonight which was quite a success. We learned a lot since the last time we've done one of these. So the next one will be on the XW-series. I'm not positive which model I'll feature in the video yet (P1 or G1) but either way it will be general topics - Step Sequencer, Phrase Sequencer, Performances...etc. Get the question list started. I'm looking at dates in the next two weeks.
  5. Happyrat, The next online clinic will be on the XW, not the PX-5S.

Based on a Stage Setting made by Jim Alfredson who's been out performing live with his PX-5S is this new EQ'd piano preset. The low mid frequencies are cut, along with boost in the upper mids and high frequences, resulting in a piano sound that provides some cut and presence in a live mix. This is a tone, just load it in and try it with any of the existing Piano Stage Settings. Thank you Jim Alfredson.
  7. L - means low B - bass This is done to minimize aliasing artifacts. So if you're doing a synth bass sound you'd want to use the L or B versions of the waveforms to get the best quality....that is unless you're looking for a particular character.
  8. This format relies on your participation. There is now a CHAT window next to the video. I removed the "Social Stream". I have also allowed anonymous people in the chat. So you can ask questions without having to link a Facebook or Ustream account.
  9. That is the confusion. You want the PX-3 to transmit MIDI otherwise you can't play the module. You just don't want it to transmit a program change. What kind of module? I'm quite certain that if you setup Upper Zone 2 to be External only but don't assign it a Bank/Program change it won't send anything. Then Upper Zone 1 needs to be set as INTERNAL Only. So if you switch the tone on Upper Zone 1, it will not change anything on Upper Zone 2.
  10. 4 zones / volume for each on 4 sliders The sliders and knobs on the PX-5S are highly configurable. Each slider or knob can do two things at once. Each zone can determine if it uses that physical controller or not. So for example if you wanted sliders 1-4 to be zone volume. I'd recommend setting it like this:

 Slider 1: CC#07 Volume
 Slider 2: CC#07 Volume
 Slider 3: CC#07 Volume
 Slider 4: CC#07 Volume

Then in the Controllers section for Each Zone, you can do this:
Zone 1: Slider 1 ON, Slider 2,3,4 OFF
Zone 2: Slider 2 ON, Slider 1,3,4 OFF
Zone 3: Slider 3 ON, Slider 1,2,4 OFF
Zone 4: Slider 4 ON, Slider 1,2,3 OFF
  11. Yes it will over MIDI, but that is not going to be demonstrated tonight.
  12. This is correct. The only way to disable the speaker is by plugging something into the headphone jack.
  13. Reminder - tomorrow night at 7:30pm EST www.ustream.tv/casiomusicgear
  14. We're working on a PDF guide for the factory Stage Settings that documents what each of the knobs/sliders actually do. As for editing them, if a CC is listed but doesn't have a name then it is a generic open CC that can be used to control other MIDI device. Parameters that have control over the PX-5S will have names.
  15. Greg, Simple mistake. You started moving parameters without choosing the Stage Setting that you wanted to edit. Just below the Stage Setting tab at the top left there is a rectangle that in your example says "not selected". Click that box then choose the Stage Setting that you'd like to edit and all will function properly.
  16. Not possible. Honestly the guys that buy the $3,000 Nords and Hammonds are all using the Ventilator pedal. The XW-P1 + a Vent is a remarkable combination.
  17. There is only one DSP effect almost always controlled by Zone 1.
  18. If DSP is selected, the "ChorSendRev" parameter does not function. It is not available at all. That being said when the DSP effects are active the reverb is after the DSP effect. Taking a quick look at that chart, it does not appear to be correct. As for the reverbs, they're simply slight variations. While the effects were derived from what was done in the WK-7500 I don't think they're identical as the XW is doing much more.
  19. No not true. XW's, CTK models and WK models are all identical in this regard. As for other pedals, we have two: Casio SP-20 Casio SP-3R Pedals from Kurzweil and Korg also work, Roland and Yamaha will not.
  20. The piano sample in the XW-P1 is most similar to what is in the WK-7500/CTK-7000 although I can not say for certain if they're identical. It is a three layer stereo piano sample. No, the XW-P1 does not do any kind of damper or string resonance simulation.
  21. You can sequence the Solo Synth but you have to make a change. When in Step Sequencer mode, press the MENU button on the right side (next to yes/no), scroll down and change the Solo1 track to channel 1.
  22. Nova, I'm not certain I entirely understand your question. On the PX-3 you can store registrations. Each Registration can be a combination of internal PX-3 tones or external MIDI devices. As mentioned above each of the 2 Upper and 2 Lower zones can control and Internal tone, External MIDI device or both at the same time. Set it up the way you want and store the Registration. When you switch Registrations the PX-3 can send the appropriate program/bank change to your external MIDI gear if external MIDI is active.
  23. Sorry Jimmy, I haven't found a work around. I don't think this is currently possible.
