Yes I am using 1.13. when it was happening less frequent, I reloaded the software. Lately the problem has been happening each time I play. Sometimes the volume will return to the regular level and then back to the uncontrollable level. Usually it gets triggered when pressing the keys a little harder. I'm thinking it has to do with a bad connection or circuit board. I'm not good at repairing this type of problem, so I guess I need to find an authorized Casio service center in central New Jersey. Anyone have experience with on around here?

The volume on my PX-5S gets very loud at times, by itself and it cannot be turned down by using the volume knob. The volume will be turned all the way down, but the will still be sound. An intermittent problem that is getting more frequent. If I turn it off and then on again, it works a little while and then becomes uncontrollable again. Does anyone else experience this and is there a solution?

I'll get some compressed air and try it. Right now I don't have time to take it apart, but wouldn't rule it out.

I didn't try the compressed air yet. I did try just blowing into it with my own hot air. ; ) It's still an intermittent problem. I need to try the compressed air. Thanks for reminding me. I haven't been playing out with this keyboard lately though.

I recently re-installed the firnware and reloaded my stagesettings. So far I haven't had the volume knob fail to control the volume. I hope that was the fix and I'll keep you posted. I seem to be the only one with that problem, so maybe it was a software glitch.

Recently one of my keys will not play. Sometimes it plays and sometimes it doesn't. it happens more if I strike the key harder in the middle to upper portion and less at the bottom of the key.I've had it about five years now. Anyone know about what it would cost to fix this. I'm not sure if it is a contact issue and I don't know if it's too complicated for me to open it up to fix.

I've had an intermittent problem with the volume knob/control on my px 5s lately. When it happens, the volume knob no longer will control the volume and will not get lower or silence the sound completely. I've had to shut it down a few times before it operates correctly again. It happened this time after using the sliders in the 6 drawbar preset. I also was using the transpose function. I've used these functions in the past and again to try to recreate the problem. Fortunately it has never happened on a gig. I am using the latest firmware. Any help out there?

thanks Joe. I thought I read somewhere there could be a problem with some keys popping from it being in an upright position and just wanted to make sure that wasn't a problem.

I won't be I using my Px for a bit of time and need to store it. Space is limited and I have it in the gig bag in the vertical position. It's slightly leaning back against some other items. The keys aren't the end leaning forward though. Is there any harm keeping it stored somewhat upright?

I'm pretty sure this happened to me after removing the thumb drive before a gig and plugging it back in afterwards.

this is the second time this happened to me. just played a gig yesterday and glad it didn't happen then. Right now it seems to be updating with the thumb drive reinserted. It's been about 5 mins already.

The settings in the System and Master seem to be the ones are missing. Is there a way of adding those settings back. I have no idea where they should be at.

I was thinking if I changed all the parameters in the Stage Setting that I setup for one of my Nord's EP voice, it would give me a clean slate to work with. I changed things in the master and system controls (within the Stage setting), not realizing it would affect the other local sounds of the PX. The midi stage setting plays for the midi from the Nord, but now I can't any of the internal Casio sounds to play. I made these changes because I was trying to get a better sound when triggering the Nord from the Casio. I still can't get the brightness that I get when just playing the Nord. I've tried many things including the velocity in the Casio. Unfortunately, I re-saved the stage setting. Any way of getting the parameters back to the way they were? Do I have to reload the firmware or the complete stage settings file? Help!

Yes. Both keyboard have stereo channels in my mixer. I don't believe there is anything altered in this setup. There is just that slight brightness of sound that is missing when triggering the Nord note from the Casio. I should try to record it.

I've been using my PX-5S to control some of the sounds from my Nord Electro 3. I have assigned a few stage settings on the PX to do this. I've always noticed that when playing the Nord sounds through the PX, there is a very slight different sound quality that is noticeable to my ears. A bit of treble sharpness that is heard when playing the note on the Nord that isn't reproduced when striking the same key on the PX. A bit of dullness maybe with the PX as a controller. I'm not sure why it is so, the cables are hooked up properly and the midi selection in the stage setting seems fine. I have tried turning of the High Def and also tried different touch settings. The difference is very minimal but it is there and it bugs me. Any advice is appreciated?
