  1. Great stuff! The band is top notch also. Thanks for sharing Dave!
  2. I'm using a Midi 5 pin cable. Nord "Midi In" > Casio "Midi Out".
  3. I've turned back on "midi out". I'm still not getting any sound. Any other suggestions?
  4. Just need some more information regarding a stage setting dedicated to midi triggering of my Nord. Brad, thanks for your help in the last post and I realize it's been a while since I wrote back. I must be missing something since, I am not getting any sound with these settings. Triggering the Nord works when I change the midi setting in the System Settings menu, but I can't seem to get it working with changing the settings within a particular stage setting. The Midi light on my Nord is not flashing as it should and no sound is produced. I have: Gen out - off Midi out - off Usb out - off Prog & Bank Out (Prg) or (Bnk) or (Off) Is there something else? I'm using the Air E. Piano1 for this stage setting I want to change. All the other zones are set to off. Thanks!
  5. Thanks Brad! That makes things much easier and it is a great feature.
  6. Is it possible to dedicate a stage setting to trigger sounds from another keyboard? I have been using my my Nord E3 and my px-5s together via midi. When I want to trigger the Nord sounds I need to change some of the the settings in my Casio's Midi menu (local off and midi key, etc). It would be great to just have all that information stored in a stage setting, so just a push of that button would allow me to switch back and forth easily. Thank you, Steve
  7. thanks Scott, I'll try that.
  8. There is a particular Upright piano sound on my Nord E3 that I like to play occasionally. I have been triggering the notes with my PX-5S. (please excuse the terminology if this isn't worded correctly in midi language). When I play the Nord, the sound is a little more pronounced or clear. It looses some of this when I hook up the keyboard together and use the Casio to trigger the keys of the Nord. I have the Casio set to "local off" and Midi settings to "key". I have tried both Hi Res off and on. Is this something I need to accept or is there a setting that I'm missing to get a more accurate sound? The Nord is limited though since it doesn't have long release and some other features that would make the piano sounds more realistic, etc. I was expecting the sound to be exactly the same when the midi connection is made though. Thanks, Steve
  9. I sometimes have played out in mono. At home I have two speakers for stereo and haven't used a mono setup in a while. As I remember, I would not use the phased sounds for EPs. The Clavs always sounds good. I'm sure the synth sounds would be descent as well as the organs. There are a couple Mono pianos and I like the Concert Grand. These are some I really like in Mono, Basically any sound that doesn't rely on the effects of stereo and panning. But you might even like the way the sound in a mono setup. Best thing to do is check it out. Load em in and load em out with a thumb drive. 10. Wow! The Casio sounds damn good too.
  11. Just bought and loaded Dave's piano sounds. These are really solid and well designed. Dave's sounds are very well mapped across the entire keyboard and they are not over heavy with the bass which is really nice. They have good punch in sound. Although I'm not currently playing in a band these days, but I know that I'll be using these when I do, especially for rock and blues. I also took another look at some of Dave's other sounds he created for Casio and I can understand and appreciate his logic of design. Some of these sounds may lower volume. After asking Dave about this, he told me that he makes sure that these sounds won't clip, etc. when turned up. Makes sense to me. Well worth the 25 bucks.I hope to see more sounds from him in the future.
  12. Thanks Choppin! I'll take a look at this.
  13. I'd like to get my stage settings to be more even in volume. I know that some are much louder than others. I tried searching for a thread but I didn't find the one I was looking for. I think someone may have addressed this before. Can anyone post a link to it, if you remember which one it is? I really would rather not have to create FB account though, if the answer is there. BTW is there a link to the FB page that doesn't require you to become a FB member? Thanks!
  14. Great work AS77! I look forward to playing these.
  15. Thanks Jim! I appreciate your response and help. My speakers are a bit bassy,so that is probably throwing me off a little.
  16. After downloading the New Roadz, I'm finding that in the higher registers I don't get the punch that he gets on this recording. The lower half sounds great but the sound isn't as evenly distributed. I wonder if he changed the settings from the original. I've played with the EQ and found it gets better. Anybody using this sound? Do you have any suggestions for improving balance in overall range? https://soundcloud.com/casiomusicgear/privia-new-roadz-ep
  17. I just found it. On SoundCloud it has it featured as "New Roadz".
  18. Anyone know what Rhodes setting is used for this song that Jim Alfredson is playing? Aside from his awesome playing and great tune, I really like the full tone and great clarity in the upper register. Privia Rhodes.mp3
  19. Thanks you for your help! It's working now. I didn't have the Midi out set to key. The orange end of the cable is used for the Nord "in" and Casio "out". I'm not sure if that matters. I do need to learn more about Midi, read up on it more.
  20. Thanks for your help. I have turned off the hi res and set it back to master, but still no sound is being produced. For audio outputs, I am using cables for right and left channel outputs from both the Nord and the Casio that run into my mixer. The keyboards work when I'm not hooking them up midi. There is sound from the Nord. I am listening through headphones. I have tried all combinations with hooking up the Midi cable. Each end of the Midi cable has an orange plug and a grey one. That may be orange = + and grey + = -.
  21. I need help with a Midi issue. I would like to play the keys of my Casio and trigger sounds that are on my Nord. I feel I've taken all the right steps but I'm still not hearing any sound when playing the keys of the Px-5s. I've posted on the Nord site but I haven't solved the problem. I'm thinking it is a setting in the Casio that is preventing this from happening. These are the setting that I'm using I have a midi cable "in" with the Nord, that connects into the Casio midi "out". I have both keyboards set to channel 1 and the Casio set to Local off. The Casio is set as "Slave". Hight Res "On". Device Id=1, Basic channel 1. I have done a 7. CC send and a 9. Dump All, on the Nord. Thanks for your help.
  22. yes. I didn't think it was capable of the variety of it. The sounds can also create some what of a rhythm.
  23. I've had fun with doing this intro to a song I'm putting together. I was using the Px dancer preset and used the sliders for cutoff, resonance and attach. Just wanted to share it with you guys. Steve 09 Flood intro 52.mp3
