  1. Casio support were really helpful. And reading back through the earlier replies, I now see Brad was right, and I was not following the manual accurately enough. posting back anyway in case anyone else finds this reminder useful. it is vital to record the song first, before even selecting any folder. So first make a recording (in midi mode of course) THEN select the folder. If you select the folder first THEN record, it will always revert back to folder 71, in which .mid files cannot be saved. as long as you record AND THEN select folder and continue the process as per manual, it works just fine. Slightly embarrassed posting this to basically acknowledge the manual is correct, but just in case anybody makes the same erroneous step that I did, this might just help.
  2. I’ll contact Support and post back anything that comes from it. i have another midi controller to connect to the DAW. I actually video myself playing, showing the keyboard unit itself, so wanted to avoid a USB cable running off in to my PC. I know it stinks of vanity but I make videos and this keyboard is particularly attractive! Which is why writing .mid to mini-USB would have been perfect for a more minimalist look. Thanks for the suggestion however… I’ll post back if I get hold of Support.
  3. Indeed. The USB read from my PC looks fine. I see MUSICDAT. in that folder I have a bunch of "TAKE##.WAV" files which are my audio recordings. I also have folders 61 to 70 (all empty) and folder "RECORDER". Inside the "RECORDER" folder I see my "recsong.mrf" file. Further I can put the USB back in to my keyboard and play song #71, and it plays back the .MRF file fine. I really appreciate your help BTW. To me if really feels like a software bug. I cannot understand why it will write the .MRF exactly as expected and instructed, but will not write a .MID.
  4. Ah sorry I swapped the key presses in my last post. I have since edited. but the problem stands. Your screenshot of the manual helps 👍🏽. The problem specifically is step 4. Pressing Ab1 “causes the sound mode to flash…” , and then C1 results in a saved .mrf file on the USB. That works fine. But pressing G1 does not “cause the sound mode to flash”. It just gives a single beep response.
  5. This is what I cannot get to work. I record a "sample", and it saves to the keyboard's internal memory. I'm confident there, because if I press <play> on the keyboard, my sample plays back. But the steps to save this sample as .mid to USB (as per the manual) are not working for me. 1. As per the user guide (PXS1100_usersguide_EN.pdf) p.28, I have prepared my keyboard to use as a MIDI recorder by Function + F6. 2. I make my recording. It is saved to internal memory. If I press play, it plays back. 3. Then as per p.37. my USB is inserted. I hold down Function + Ab1, then C1 . This successfully saves RECSONG.MRF file to the "RECORDER" folder in "MUSICDAT". BUT, if I use Function + G1, then C1, nothing is saved. This same step in the manual suggests that Function+G1 will save .MID (SMF), and Function+Ab1 will save .MRF However for me, only the MRF save works. The .MID save does not work. Any suggestions on what I am doing wrong? It just seems really odd to me that I'm following the steps on p.37 and the .MRF save works, but the .MID doesn't. It feels like a bug?
  6. Something is holding me back from realising my hopes with this fine keyboard. I'm here... 1. I can record .WAV audio to a plugged in USB stick. And it saves fine in D:\MUSICDAT as a "Take##.WAV" file. Perfect. But I am getting nowhere with saving my recording as a plain simple .mid file. I need to do this so I can a) import to a midi editor b) adjust some velocity imbalances. The intention is then to play back the edited .mid on the keyboard. I've followed the manual as best as I can, but I get to a step which says, press Function G1 to save .MID, or Ab1 to save .MRF. When I press function G1 then C1, nothing is saving. there is no LED activity on the keyboard neither. If I press Function Ab1 then I get LED activity, and an .MRF is saved to song #71. I can switch off the keyboard, switch back on, plug in the USB and successfully playback the .MRF file by loading in Song #71. But why can I not save a plain .MID file? Please breakdown the steps, because I have followed the manual as diligently as I can, and I am not succeeding. Can someone walk me through a simple example process of how to record .MID directly to the USB please?
