  1. Been through manual serval times. The goal is to record step seq info into Sonar. Sucessful with starting and stopping via transport control on G1, but thats about it! Tried recording performance and step sequencer ungo to the pc ..no go! 1. )USB Connection to and fr pc( even that is hit or miss) 2.) maudio interface and 5 pin midi in and out via Yamaha ES Rack. Ive not updated the firmware as of yet, maybe thats the problem/solution? Pc identifies the USB connection. Maybe im asking too much, but its the 21st..! Where am I dropping the ball? Thanks
  2. Thanks so much for creating the ins file. look forward to trying it out.
  3. I Probably need to post on another location since I'm referring to interfacing My G1 with the Akai MPC 2000XL....any suggestions? thanks
  4. Hello All, permission to board- I ve not "jumped ship"- Working to understand my XW G1 all the more. Ive picked up a used AKAI MPC 2000XL and married the two. MPC Master G1 as slave device. Im loving it! Anyone else have similar situation. please touch base with me . thanks
  5. Thanks. I receive these words more than youll ever know. This man , that you made reference to, is perhaps the Man , I love and serve and worship, this Man s Name is Wonderful, Counselour, Mighty God...Jesus Christ! Ive been playing elec bass guitar, in and out of bands night clubs as well weddings you name it, for quite a number of years, my regret is , i foolishly squandered that time. Well He is faithful to allow this time ..to make this right. Last night we had our first "song writers Guild" are we are stoked at all the original musical motifs we have written on our own, the 5 of us will begin this jounery together and we will musically " kick *** " on our spiritual enemy! Using the talents God has given us. I will take you up on the offer of the music theory help. I truly believe , There is a truth, a reality at work, that states, basically, when you give it will be multiplied back to you. Perhaps this is that opportunity for us all. Im interested how the "pm" option works. You all are my gift, thanks. Lets stay in touch. angel g out for now.
  6. Hello all, The sale of my XW-G1, never came to pass. My XW, back at atG Studios, where it is being put to use. I am going to eat this elephant....one bite at a time....ie: read the manual and press in. Number one on my list is re-recording 14 or more of my original songs, and incorporate the "XW" any and every where I can. Learning music theory is at the top of my list as well. Looking forward to learn from all you...LETS DO THIS! Thanks sooo much for all your encouragement and insight.
  7. I wish to thank all of you for your help, advice and insight. I'm the old school home studio engineer/bass player, that has found it quite difficult to carve out the time and dedication to learning to operate this instrument. It has proven to be more of a challenge, and I really don't have the desire to monkey around with the XW-G1 any longer. There fore I'm selling it off, and using the money to pick up an electronic drum kit. Ive got a number of songs that I need to finish. My intention was to purchase a keyboard "work station" to work up ideas for my original stuff. This machine is waaaay cooool and sounds are terrific. A Linear thinker I am not, and unfortunately even trying to follow the manual, I'm unable to do the the most basic routine. I am sure it will do what I need, and watching the videos on you tube were inspirational. But it was not happening for me in reality. Take care and all the best to you in your musical endeavors. bass_produce....signing out for now?
  8. Thanks very much, I'll try that and get back with you!
  9. Write..write ...write.. why is it that my G1 doesn't maintain / keep, my user step sequence tempo , after I press write and it displays complete???? HELP
  10. Hello Once again... Need some more help, please. Back in the studio. In the process of creating a back-up track. Can't seem to save my user step sequence, properly. ie..the tempo is different than the way I "wrote" it. There's a asterisk next to the user number. trying to figure out why it's not saving correctly. What am I doing wrong. Ive ..Checked the user manual.. must go deeper into it i guess. thanks
  11. Hello all, Ive yet to venture into "sampler" land with my G1......I'm still monkeying around with all the on board sounds. For me the "blessings" and the ."challenges" are toooooooo many way cool hardware configurations. I mean I had that running through my Yamaha motif rack, thru the Williams digi piano underneath it....i mean man!! The choices are all over the place. This unit stands out on its own just fine. I still did not upgrade the firmware....no prob because, the studio has to go the direction of my work, flow. Ive picked the Yamaha MGP 16 x mixer headphone amp , etc. The G1 does get played regularly and I'm glad I bought it. Btw I picked this VS-20 hardware 2 channel controllr as wel. Yep Ive got my hands full......bit I am sooooooo digging it! What you think of the pics I sent? Later
  12. Here are some pics of my setup...Quite happy with it!!
  13. Hey everyone , Been working in my home studio on a project , (acoustic guit/vocals), for a client. Making great relationships and really putting my gear through its' paces. Except of course, my G1. Will post some pics soon..( sorry but I foget who asked for them.) ..I ve yet to update / upgrade the firmware on the G1. has anyone with a G1 experienced any problems with this. . ? any way I'll be back soon with some pics. thanks
  14. Thanks again for sending that link/ info...I'll wait to upgrade the firmware, and concentrate on what I can and cannot do with this WX G1 instrument. I ve spent time this lunch break w/Music Studio ipad app... and try to get my brain around it. As far as desktop computers go...I never enjoyed (was productive ) , with the pc audio mulitrack recording, although MIDI recording has been cooperative. I'll send some pics of my setup , when the sun comes back out, ipad shoots better with natural sunlight...looking forward to whats coming up next. i am still stoked about what this machine can do in my hybrid setup. btw my iPAD is up to the current version thanks....
  15. Thanks everyone... I need to be clear on this.... latest / greatest OS, we are talking about OS on the G1 and not.. the iPAd right? I'm at work now and will check the OS on the iPAD....from here.
  16. Connected my iPAD running Music Studio app ..WXG1 via camera connection. iPAD is the master and Casio responds to start and stop, although I'm unable to record midi notes to "Music studio" any suggestions? BTW when i'm able to record to the app the timing/synced gets out of wack.. Please advise. thanks
  17. Quick chk-in : Believe I'm getting the hang of the step sequencer. I've created to patterns and want play them in succession. Begun "chaining" together my patterns....still need to touch upon recording with the sampler, as well as messing with the looper and connecting to the PC. Carry on. Thanks
  18. The Boss DR-880...was a part of my set-up just to make sure I can get it up and running. I do not plan on spending time on the drum machine (not yet anyway) the drum machine is not my focus. The focus is the ability to program the beats , the beatsThat I've already created (via MPC BOss etc..) to program those beats on my G1. ( yes I do have a nuber of songs that I want to re-record. You know what this is called right??? A Labor of Love..yea Man...that what this is! It's a bitter sweet relationship between man and machine. Hey!!! someone should write a song about this ! ...:-). Anyway Ive got enough on my plate now. I"m glad if I gave you some ideas, although that was never my intention...how cool is that, I ask you guys for help and I give someone an idea. ....I love it..!
  19. I recommend using the G1 solely it has drumkits for any style of taste I use midi in performance mode to trigger a midi device or start a sequence from the G1. The Boss machine was just for me to make sure I can get it to work. I wont get sidetracked on it, just checked off my to do list. The real concern is to create my own drum programs, the step sequencer, is an entirely different animal, different from my old Akai MPC 2000 XL. Is it possible to create drum patterns via the keys themselves, I mean is it possible to play them into the sequencer? If I'm barking up the wrong tree , I'll give up on that notion. So main thing is for me to learn how to make this sequencer play whats inside my head. I own the Korg Electribe it works along the same lines. 16 steps broken up into 4 sections ..measures..., .it is a machine!
  20. Quick check - in. Ive been working with the G1 unit, checking out the sounds , etc. ...successfully synced to the Boss dr 880 drum machine after a little trial and error. In trying to create my own "step sequences" I seem to lose my drums* as I select the next drum "part" using the - and + push button. I'm having better success in editing the preset step sequences then creating my own. followed the you tube tutorial by Mike Martin and still having difficulty (user error) I'm sure. The sounds themselves are suitable for my taste....although I am not a keyboard player ,(self taught) so just noodling around is a blast. note* drm1 = kick drum -- drm 2 snare -- drm3 is hat and so forth. perhaps I should somehow de-activate the sliders, and stay with the default drm voices as I learn ..?? anyway i'll keep on it and see what happens.
  21. Hey all Spaeking of "out of the box" .... Guess who just unpacked his G1. Thats right, bass_produce. It was very well packaged for shipping, came complete instructions in spanish and englich...he he he . Temps are freezin here in virginia so its waiting for me to fire it up. WX-Addict just mentioned video taping this puppy in action in a studio environment and I would love to implement this, although ..I have to spend considerable time w nomenclature and hardware config.....yeah I'm psyched. We've been preparing to be clobbererd with this snow storm, perhaps if electric power holds up I'll get to spend time with this machine. Be back later.
  22. Thanks so much for the great feedback. like i said in first (ever) post on this site....I ordered the P1 and things changed and I'm getting the G1. I m still psyched (late 60's term) about adding it to my studio. Looking forward to the clock signal drive my drum machines. I've always good results with these units. I'm a 58 years (young ) electric bassist, Vinyl records by the hundreds and grooving on everything from abba to the beatles...george duke (God rest his soul) raggae , funk jazz and blues. I listen to it all as well as produce my own music. Everyone here is really making feel at home and I most certainly look forward to touching base with you when m,y G1 comes in....Thanks for all your help and info..!
  23. Great Thanks.. Are there more pianos on the P1 as opposed to the G1? Or each one has just one piano sound?
  24. I ve owned casio before and really dug 'em..namely the WK-1630 and WK 7500. I'm currently In the process of buying / ordering the XW-P1 unfortunately... I was informed that the distribution site /contact was unable to ship but made a good deal on the XW-G1, so the XW-G1 on its way to me instead of the P1. here's my concern. I ve been watching/listening to dozens of videos for the P1 and loving the piano sounds. Anyone know what the piano sounds like on the G1, does it have piano at all? Please help....thanks
