Stage setting for Evil Woman. Play distorted clavinet with left hand (lower register). Upper register is transposed rock piano and strings. Start with sliders 1,2,3 on zero. When break with phased string sound comes in, move slider 1,2,3 to maximum and play that bit, then move the sliders 1,2,3 back to zero for remaining verse and chorus. Stage setting for Pick up the Pieces. Good for band with one guitar player (playing rhythm bit) and no horn section. Lower register the plucked guitar sound, higher register is the horns. Might also be a nice setting to augment real horns. Demo: https://soundcloud.com/hackjammers/pick-up-pieces-1 -

A stage setting for Steve Miller's Swingtown. Keyboard split with organ piano in lower register and synthesizer in upper. Use initially with slider 1 and 2 at lowest setting. With slider 1 and 2 at lowest setting the synthesizer is the nice "round" Moog sound, then move slider 1 and 2 to maximum and the "round" Moog sound is replaced with the buzzy vibrato synthesizer sound. -

This is my first effort at a Stage Setting for Uptown Funk. The top end of the keyboard is brass (mix of Brass Section and Trumpet). The lower part is for the "cheezy" synth after the "Don't belive me just watch". Slider 6 is assigned to portamento speed. Before the sweep (the bit with Uptown Funk gonna bring it to you) hit a low "D", then move the slider to portamento speed about 90-100. Then hit a "D" a few octaves above and enjoy the "sweep"... Someone more clever might have three distinct parts but I got the most I could out of having one split point. Hope this helps someone covering the song! -
Playing Stage Settings from an Alesis Vortex
boblarochelle replied to boblarochelle's topic in Privia Pro PX-5S
Great advice. Send Msb 112 Send Lsb 36 Send program change of your stage setting Example 0 would be concert grand Or 77 for polysynth This is in the linked reference but I figured I would distill it for people who see this post. Worked like a charm. -
I have an Alesis Vortex and am wondering if there is an easy way to play a stage setting from the Vortex. I will assume that the MIDI works similar to my PX3, and I was able to get to sounds via program change, etc. On my PX3, I was never able to figure out how to access my saved registrations. The stage settings on the PX-5s are very powerful and it would be awesome if I could play them from the Vortex. Has anyone done this. I did a search for Vortex before posting this, but didn't see anything. So if this question has been asked and answered my apologies in advance.

This question has like been answered already but I could not find it on the forum. I understand that adjustments to a tone in stage setting are stored with the stage setting. How do you edit an existing tone but save your edits as a new user tone with a name you specify? For example, I adjust an electric piano tone, save it as a user tone (HeavyMetalPiano or some such) without affecting the stage setting? I downloaded the tutorial and on page E10 it has editing an existing tone, but I want to create new tones for use in multiple stage settings and leave the factory stuff alone. If I can do this I can draw upon the user tones for a lot of songs without having to take up stage settings for cases where I don't use zone, splits, layers, etc. Sorry if this is a stupid question
