  1. Person who sold it too me got it from US. Not paying to repair mediocre keyboard.
  2. Well I wasn't going to contact the VSTi's support since my other Casio sounds good. I'm sure it is the PX5s doing funky things, even using PX5s onboard sounds has a strange feel to it. "Light" velocity makes playing soft too difficult and "normal" is the opposite. It is most noticable to me when playing fast phrases that are suppose to be quiet or loud. Can no one else feel these strange velocity curves? Also, i've tried out velocity sensors in my DAW and as I suspected, some notes need extra strength to achieve the same velocity reading as others. It might be a personal taste issue. In which case I've wasted everyone's time lol XD
  3. Bought it off someone so no warranty. Its okay for many VSTi's still, just a little hard for piano. Thanks all!
  4. Yeah I think that's about it. Some of the black notes aren't triggering correctly. Nothing I can do about it.
  5. This made no difference at all. 2 different keyboards, same VSTi patch, same USB cable but they sound different.. Is it suppose to be that way? PX5s sounds washed out but I don't know why. The black keys are extra muffled and I feel like maybe the keybed itself isn't triggering velocity layers correctly but I can't be sure.
  6. NY PX5s when used as a controller makes my VSTi's sound muffled and not so good. My Casio PX735 however makes them sound very rich and detailed (better..). I have local control on bother disabled. I notice on the PX5s when I change stage setting settings it can affect the VSTi. So I'm thinking the PX5s is processing my VSTi's or something. Either way it sucks and I'd like to stop it. Also the touch response on the PX5s is impossible. Normal is too quiet and light is too loud, like what the heck do I do about this crazy keyboard?
  7. Well, i've given up on the quest for quietness. I think what is going on is where the metal arm has the rubber end that sits inside the hook of the plastic key tops (see Jokeyman123's mod thread) there is extra space and so when the key springs back up the metal arm wobbles around a little bit making a rattling noise. This noise only happens on some keys and has nothing to do with the amount of padding under the metal arms. The noise comes from directly below the key tops where you place your fingers. I didn't think to check if the rubber ends of the loud keys were compressed in comparison to the keys that aren't so loud, and i didn't notice any broken plastic on the keys. OH WELL lolol
  8. I thought as much, since every other Casio i have played does this. I wouldn't be bothered if those few special notes that have a loud clanking noise along with the inherent clunk weren't doing what they do. In the audio clip i posted, you can clearly tell the second set of notes and trill i play have a very distinguished clank to them opposed to the first set of notes which have a normal thud sound. This is what i'm trying to get rid of, but i cannot find the source of the noise
  9. For a while it rested on a regular X-frame keyboard stand. These days it rests on a Casio CS-67 stand. It makes no difference, the noise is definitely coming from inside the keyboard and it definitely occurs when the key bounces back up (the hammer mechanism bounces on the bottom felt strip).
  10. Anyway, i got around to taking the PX5s apart and adding more felt in all the same places as Jokeyman did. The keys sound a little bit more muffled but all those same strange clunking noises are there. I've checked around the mechanisms of the keys that are the main problem and there is no visible difference from the normal keys. As i mentioned too, even if i take the key tops of and hit the mechanism with my finger i can still here the problem even though much less loud. I do believe most of the problem is related to the frame, as Jokeyman had mentioned i believe. Once i screw the bottom casing onto the PX5s everything gets a lot louder. I suppose in short of padding the entire inside where the frame and the case might make contact, then i don't think there is any quick fix. I'm annoyed at this point lol
  11. I will give extra padding a try. Heck, even if it doesn't get rid of the noise from those particularly clunky keys i can still enjoy having a quieter keyboard in general. I'm worried though, as i mentioned i attempted to pad those specific keys to no avail. I'll update this thread when i get around to aquiring the parts required for the mod, and of course the motivation to unscrew everything and get my hands greasy again lol
  12. So i have the PX5S in pieces right now, and i still cannot seem to find the source of the noise. It comes from just beneath the key where you place your fingers. I First suspected it was the the area in which the plastic key tops hook onto the hammer mechanism, but even with the key taken off, if i press on the hammer itself the noise is still present. I cannot see any obvious point of contact though? I've tried padding many areas in and around the hammer mechanism, and i even took the mechanism out completely but i still cannot figure it out :s I still feel like it has something to do with the affected keys having looser key tops, but i'm not smart enough to figure it out XD
  13. Do you know of any cheap dual pedal units? Can sustain pedals also be used as soft pedals? I thought i was supposed to be looking for a pedal specifically for the the soft function XD
