pattern sequencer-making a longer pattern

I've got a 7200 on the way, and I've read the online manual, but I couldnt tell how you use the new patterns created from scratch to create a Song. I'm sure I'll figure it out once I get the board, but it would be nice to know how before the board arrives. Thanks.
