  1. Thanks Scott....wonderful reply!
  2. Joe...do you run stereo or mono into that di box?
  3. Thanks Joe....this is the kind of input I'm looking for!
  4. I play in a band that has issues with sound setup...and I am looking for professional advice as how to properly configure everything. We have two mic'd singers out front, two electric guitars and a bass guitar (all 3 with mics to sing back up), myself on keyboard (with mic for my sax and harmonica), & a drummer (with bass drum running through a sub woofer). All the guitars and keyboard have their own amplifiers, and all the amps and mics run into our 16 channel mixer, then out into two mains, way up front. Only the singers use monitors. Shouldn't everybody use monitors? Our main problem is that as a performance goes on through the night, everyone keeps turning up their instruments/amplifiers, battling each other to hear/be heard, since there is no sound person running the mixer board after we do our initial sound check, and because (i believe) the instrumentalists don't have monitors. The result is one big, loud, unbalanced mess at the end of the night. I hear my px5s through MY Motion Sound amp beside me, but obviously it's not what the crowd hears, so who knows when/if I'm balanced with everyone or not. So, let me ask questions numerically... 1) shouldn't everyone have/share monitors? 2) should I run signal: A)from my keyboard directly to the mixer, then back to me, mixed with everybody's sound through my own monitor/amp? Or from my keyboard into my amp first, then out to the mixer & back to me, via a separate monitor? C) or from my keyboard into my amp, then out to the mixer and then just out to the mains? I guess I'm asking if I should just hear myself through a monitor or all of the band sound through the monitor, as one cumulative mixed and balanced sound? (I really wish I had built in speakers on the px5s like the privia 350 instead of a never used battery compartment...then I could hear myself before I sent the signal away!) 3) how would a space station v3 fit into the setup scheme here? 4) how do stereo powered speakers for the keyboard fit into the scheme? I am confused here as you can see...but I've never been in a band before, and I am finding it a bit "unenjoyable" to not be able to hear well at our performances, compared to at our practices where we just use amps, no mixer and no monitors... I trust the insight from all of the wonderfully talented folks here at this forum...so I eagerly await your answers.
  5. I would love to see a video(if someone would be kind enough to make) of creating a wav file in garage band on an iPad and then saving it to usb, and then using it in px5s to play along with...not savvy in this area and I feel like I would majority screw something up....even a simple demonstration video would be helpful
  6. Such a beautiful stage setting here...Thankyou, Jeremy!
  7. All mistakes corrected, and the strings are now activated by pedal 2...ENJOY!!! Btw, zone two "electric piano 2" is there to provide the "clinky" sound to the left hand side (below middle C) of the board....I personally have reduced it from volume "64" to "42" on my keyboard to lessen the effect.

This is an electric piano sound somebody (with the initials "GRF") asked for on the Casio FB page to use in church. Hope it's close enough!!! Please adjust the eq to your own taste... I added "stereo strings" into the 4th zone, controlled by PEDAL 2 - if the Lord so moves you to use it!!! : ) Although is is much richer on the keyboard, here's a sample: https://soundcloud.com/mcnab1dl/grf-epwav-1 THIS SECOND VERSION is a BETTER version thanks to Terry L.'s kind help!!!!!!!!!! The strings are triggered by PEDAL 2 now, instead of by slider 1...and all the strange assignments have been cleared up!
  9. What about the center point space station v3???
  10. "Shaneinated" is a great stage setting to upload at the Casio music forum for this sound....
  11. Just posted this stage setting to the forum....tricky to get strings in there correctly...debated splitting keyboard in half (strings/rhodes) then just decided to throw strings on pedal 2 for when needed...perhaps someone would prefer the strings on a slider?...if so, be my guest and reconfigure. Hope you like it....

Today, someone on the forum asked for a stage setting for the Bee Gees' song "How Deep is Your Love" ... so I just played with an existing ss, and this is what i came up with... The strings are activated/deactivated by pedal 2. They will play along with whatever you play on the Rhodes piano sound. Please feel free to set up differently/reconfigure (pedals to sliders, etc.) if this setting doesn't suit your needs. Hope you like it. 13. Lee...maybe you can whip something up on the px5s with all of your experience programming the last few months....and then upload the stage settings to the forum....?
  14. I searched and searched but couldn't find that thread...if you can find it, maybe make a comment on it and bring it to the top of the thread line......????

This is my "go to" performance rock piano sound I use with my band (Old Time RnR, Takin Care of Bizness...you get the picture) I guess this is my "secret gem"...It has some punch and growl down low, but not too much Each slider controls the volume of each piano... I just use what I have them set for. sliders 5 & 6 control delay and reverb... knobs1-4 are for eq "on the fly" I hope you can use this! 16. Well, I know some folks on the forum have asked me to create more stage settings for Chicago tunes...I wonder if you could recreate their horn sounds on the px-5s...I have tried and failed miserably... Maybe some thing like the "tower of power" sound... something that pops, ya knows?

I saw a post on the Casio FB forum the other day where some guy was asking for the stage setting for the Spencer Davis Group's "Gimme Some Lovin" ... Well, here it is! The left half of the keyboard is piano; the right hand is the organ. PLEASE adjust the distortion levels yourself (under the Tone > DSP Edit function), as this stage setting probably sounds different on your keyboard than it does in my cheapo headphones! - I'm pretty sure you'll want MORE DISTORTION... At least this ss will get you "in the ballpark" (as they say...) I TRIED to get the rotary effect to sound decent on the MOD wheel, but it needs a little work still. Please sample this ss at: https://soundcloud.com/mcnab1dl/gimme-sum-lvwav

This is my (feeble) attempt at simulation of Tony Monaco's Hammond A100 organ sound at the start of his Youtube video " Tony Monaco Hammond B3 Settings and Sounds". I could NOT get the percussion sound right...but if any of YOU can, please contact me and let me know how you did it. The left half of the keyboard is the bottom left hand part, and the right half is the top right hand part. Pedal 2 is assigned for expression (volume actually) to allow for more expressive playing, and the organ ss in general is somewhat velocity sensitive for the same reason. Check out a very brief sample at: https://soundcloud.com/mcnab1dl/tm-a100-tbwav DISCLAIMER: I am NOT an organ player, hence the lame sample!!! LOL
