  1. PX5S 'B3' tonewheel organ (9 drawbars, foldback, OD, CV etc)

    ========================================================================================
    # PX5S 'B3' tonewheel organ
    ========================================================================================

B3 is an extended 'Hammond' stage set using two PX5s hex-layers for 9 drawbars and rudimentary 'foldback'.
Further zones are used to simulate 'Organ Percussion' (with a doubtful result ;))

Foldback is 'folding' higher tones down 1-2 octaves which adds to the pronounced 'crying' of B3 organs.
As PX5S is limited to maximum 2 hex-layers, foldback cannot entirely be reproduced - the stage set uses a
'mixture' of the foldback/nonfoldback characteristics of C3, B3 and spinets like M3/L100

B3 exists in two flavours differing in 'overdrive'
    - B3 Jazz: Overdrive is tuned for a 'warm tube OD': drawbars can be pulled all out without running into fuzz distortion
    - B3 Rock: Overdrive is tuned for a 'rough OD': it quickly runs into 'rock distortion'

The PX controls and pedals are used for: drawbars, Overdrive, Vibrato/Chorus (VC), Leslie fast/slow, Percussion short/long, 'Tonewheel off'

For details about using Percussion, CV,  'PX Controls', customisation options etc see the accompanying text file

  2. Accordion - Musette

I tried to recreate the classic sound of the "musette" accordion with a little detuning between the various reeds and enhancing the bass sound (lacking original sampling) with the help of a baritone sax, which being a reed instrument has a very similar.
On slider 5 there is a chorus and on 6 there is a reverber.
    Have a good fun

  3. Organs more volume and user friendly controls

    Hi everyone,

Time for me to contribute some stuff (hopefully still active users out there?).

The original organs were not working for me in a live setting because the volume was too low compared to other sounds and controls could be better.
Attached a set of organs I updated from the PX-5S originals, with more volume and improved controls.

    What I did:
    - Volume is WAY HIGHER now
    - I replaced sustain padel to 'hold', which is just more intuitive for me and useful even for organs
    - Modulation wheel now controls slow/fast rotary
    - K1 controls volume for expression
    - K2 turns on/off the rotary
    - K3 vibrato/chorus
    - K4 fast rotary speed
This setting gives me much more dynamic control during playing.

And I changed the direction for the volume sliders of the 5Draw Organ, more natural to increase volume going upwards.

    Enjoy

  4. Drawbars 8-1.ZPF

Here's my first upload effort -- a rock organ's lower manual.

I have a nice synth which nicely models single-manual clonewheel, which I play in a stack above my new PX-5S. The PX can't match that for organ, but I figured I would take a stab at at least providing a backup (lower) manual functionality.

The initial (scrapped for now) trick was going to be to put the first three drawbars on the first slider, since so many registrations build from 888 00 0000.  Then I was going to mix a couple of higher footages -- 1-3/5' and 1-1/3' -- on the 5th slider.  Getting the 16', 5-1/3', and 8' pitches to be operated by one slider is proving to be a challenge, due to limitations in the PX-5S synth architecture.  I'll work on that one again another day...

It occurred to me though that Hammond spinets don't even use 16' and 5-1/3' bars on the lower manual, and that I have an extra octave of keys at the bottom anyway, so part way through the exercise I ditched the two lower drawbars.  So for now I offer a fader-to-drawbar mapping of
        8'
        4'
        2-2/3'
        2'
        1-3/5' plus 1-13' mixture
1' (because lots of organists like that whistle to be separate from the others)

Initially, the mixture played too many major chords when I played LH bass, so I used the wonderful per-hexlayer key mapping to get the 1-3/5' sound to disappear about 1 octave below middle C, and to get the quint stops and 1' to play a little more quietly.  This allows some nice bright RH comping and non-dissonant LH bass.

This "lower manual" uses neither percussion nor C/V, but it does use Overdrive rotary.    The Mod wheel is mapped to overdrive level.  Pedal 2 is toggles fast/slow rotating speaker.  There is an editable, but non-modifiable, key click.

  5. Bay's Organ

Built my own custom Organ Hex Layer Tone using all 6 Hex Layers. Basically combined several Organ Tones (plus a Voice) and edited the pitch and filter sections heavily. This is my own sound, not trying to be another sound, just a decent cool organ for pads mostly. This is a tone, so can create Stage setting with other 3 zones to add strings, piano or anything else.

  6. GREEN ONIONS

This stage setting is a try to reproduce that Booker T sound used in the famous Green Onions track. I have tuned a bit an old 6 drawbar stage setting uploaded on this forum few times ago. I changed the amp section, some parameters for the overdrive and volume layer. Hope you enjoy it!

Stage setting is based on 4 zone:
    - Z1 and Z2 : HexLayer organ tone
    - Z3 : another organ tone to improve depth sound
    - Z4: click organ tone

    Controls:
    - Slider 1-6 : drawbar setting
    - Knob 1 : overdrive gain/level
    - Knob 2 : reverb
    - Knob 3 : Low EQ
    - Knob 4 : High EQ
    - Modulation Wheel : increase gain for another kind of overdrive, target is Z2
    - Pedal 1/Damper : switch rotor velocity

  9. OrgAnne, Jason & Terry

This is my favourite organ sound which I use a fair amount.
It is based upon Jaspeter's excellent 9 draw organ, which I have tweaked to my taste.
It has then been further tweaked by Terry. I am very pleased with the results. I hope that it may be of use to someone.

Pedal 2 controls the rotary brake
    Pedal 1 - rotary speed
    Knob 1 - vibrato/chorus
    Knob 2 - reverb/delay
Knob 3 - rotary fast rate
    Knob 4 - percussion volume
    Mod wheel - drawbar 1
    Sliders 1-6 - drawbars 2-7

  10. Multi Organ

Sliders 1-4 control volume for 4 overlaid Hammond type organ tones.
    Zone 1 - Rock Organ 2
    Zone 2 - Percussion Organ 1
    Zone 3 - Dark Organ 1
    Zone 4 - GM Organ 2
    (each zone full keyboard)
Rotary is OFF for all tones, since I use an offboard rotary sim (H&K Rotosphere). Rotary can be added via Edit-->Tone for each zone.

  11. Anne's Pipe Organ

This is my version of a full pipe church organ. It uses two zones, but the second is only to make the lowest note of the keyboard play an A5 (for use - should you wish - in Bach's Tocatta in Dm... ;-) ) Please me know if you wish me to upload another version with just one zone...
I have gigged this sound a lot and it sounds amazing through a PA. Here is a demo (with my apologies to Bach....)

  13. jonlord hammond FINAL VERSION

    hi all,
I am a new PX 5 owner and this is my preset for distorted hammond.
I try to emulate a famous Jon Lord setup: a hammond through a leslie (similar to "6 draw organ" stage settings), in parallel with a hammond thought a distorted guitar amp.
the volume of the "clean" hammond can't be changed, but with the mod wheel you can regulate (or mix) the volume of the "distorted" hammond from 0 to max.
Edit. I update the file: the clean organ is a little more overdrived and with more reverb because it seemed too weak. And with more percussion.
I adjust the eq of the distorted part to get more power sound, and make the highs less harsh.
here a new demo with the final stage setting with an intro of a famous Deep Purple song:
    https://soundcloud.com/roberto-forestan/take08wav
    IMPORTANT:
MOD WHEEL = DISTORTED ORGAN VOLUME
KNOB 1 = PHASER EFFECT (very good for distorted parts)

  15. KEmoKE9 Organ

Keith Emerson Karn Evil 9 organ emulation. Just to see what can be achieved in 5 mins. certainly descent organ to use at a gig.
Soundcloud is available to hear Karn Evil 9 teaser with this organ Stage Setting.
This sound was played using the Casio PX-5S Stage Piano, Touch Response set to 0. While it is playable, the piano setting of the keys, etc do create a challenge. however, for anyone not wishing to acrry another instrument to a gig, this organ tone is certainly valid.

  16. 6 Draw OrgJJ

I think the 6 Draw organ that was added in the updated factory set was a good step forward in getting a pretty authentic raw clone wheel sound out of the PX-5S. Nonetheless, I have been struggling with the shrillness of the setting especially in the upper ranges. Using my red-colored clonewheel as a model, I have rebalanced the sound through a combination of key follow, relative drawbar maximum value and EQ adjustments to arrive at a sound that IMO is more balanced and definitely closer to that of my clonewheel. This file has the DSP Leslie off (DSP on [through]) as I use a Hammond Leslie outboard pedal as opposed to the internal sim. Other than that, everything else has the same function as the factory setting.

  17. Detailed church organ

This is a 'real church' organ stagesetting.
The goal was to create a detailed church organ sound, with not only the full power of the organ, but also the subtleties from blending different stops or retracting them.
To get this to work you need to download the stagesetting 'CHURCHORG'
I have added the separate hex layers also, eventhough they aren't necessary in order to function.
The layers act as different organ stops.
You can see the organ stops as different sounds which can be added to each other. Add layers (stops) by pulling down the sliders!
    The stops in this stagesetting:
    S1 -- 16' principal
    S2 -- 8' Flute
    S3 -- 4' principal
-- the above first 3 stops are making a base layer
    S4 -- 3' mixture
    S5 -- 3' nazard
    S6 -- 8' trumpet
-- these 3 above give a different blend to the mix
K4 -- 8' voix céleste (slightly detuned sound, to create a wavering human voice effect).
-- I consider the above stop a solo register, not to be used with all the rest together, which is why it's on knob4. However you can blend the voix céleste nice with the flute or the principals.
K1 -- controls the amount of reverb. If you play in a church you wouldn't need reverb (but then again you'd have a real church organ, no?)
    Example:
    https://soundcloud.com/pieter-jan-lanssens/realistic-church-organ
Stops used here: in the beginning a tutti (everything except voix celeste), then only voix celeste, then flutes. Was a quick record, without any rehearsal, it shows at the end :-).

  18. TM's Hammond A100 (Top R/Bottom L)

This is my (feeble) attempt at simulation of Tony Monaco's Hammond A100 organ sound at the start of his Youtube video " Tony Monaco Hammond B3 Settings and Sounds". I could NOT get the percussion sound right...but if any of YOU can, please contact me and let me know how you did it.
The left half of the keyboard is the bottom left hand part, and the right half is the top right hand part. Pedal 2 is assigned for expression (volume actually) to allow for more expressive playing, and the organ ss in general is somewhat velocity sensitive for the same reason.
Check out a very brief sample at:
    https://soundcloud.com/mcnab1dl/tm-a100-tbwav
DISCLAIMER: I am NOT an organ player, hence the lame sample!!! LOL
