  1. You are going nuts. But it is different. The forum software often has security updates and I guess the latest came with some visual changes as well.
  2. If your PC system is class compliant then you may not need to download drivers, but you may need to be running a program that responds to MIDI. You might want to try an app like MIDIOX (I think that's how it's spelled - I'm a Mac guy) to see if the computer is recognizing MIDI at all and go from there.
  3. You're in the wrong place. If you have a CDP 130 there are other places on the forum to discuss it, and if you're generally looking for MIDI software, you need to ask in a topic area here that's more general.
  4. Hmmm. I would have thought it would be available at shopcasio.com but I'm not seeing that particular item at the moment.
  5. This is just a WAG but have you tried updating the firmware again? Maybe from the beginning downloading the file to make sure it's not corrupt.
  6. I have version 1.0.1 running on my MacBook Pro, and have had it on a few versions. I don't know how far back that went (I suppose I could look at the date of the application and figure out what version of macOS was latest back then). I also have a MacBook that runs 10.6.8 (the latest macOS that machine can run), but if I test it on that, I don't know if that would help you. Theoretically, it should run on any Intel-based Mac running whatever version on macOS the compatibility page says and later. The only thing that I can think of that might be an issue is 32 vs 64 bit processors, and since you say you have a Core Duo and not Core 2 Duo, maybe that's it.
  7. You can buy a good DI box from a company like Radial or Switchcraft (beware of cheap brands, those can be hit or miss) and then run to an XLR that runs to the mixer. Long cable runs of unbalanced cable can suck for your sound and I'm guessing that's what you're experiencing. Another option if you use multiple keyboards or sound sources is the Key Largo from Radial. I know - you just bought a mixer! But depending on your situation, it might be useful so I wanted to cover everything.
  8. Oh duh, I guess that was Portuguese, not Spanish. I can see that now. I'm 0 for 2 in this thread...
  9. erm, I used to know all that kind of crap...
  10. No se que hablas Espanol, Scott. Yo tampoco.
  11. Maybe. Does this happen with all stage settings? If you connect the PX-5S to a computer and look at the MIDI output with something like MIDI-OX (PC) or MIDI Monitor (Mac), does it show values that appear to be wrong, like always 0 or 127? If so, then it probably needs cleaning. Try Brad's technique of spraying compressed air down there if you can. He's posted about it in the past. If it works, that's much easier than taking the keyboard apart.
  12. I think I've seen the SP32 pedals attached to the CGP-700, but the sustain is unfortunately reversed. That means it sustains except when you press the pedal. I don't recall trying the other two. Overall, the SP32 and the SP33 are wired differently and I don't know of a way to make the SP32 work on newer models that use the SP33.
  13. I would also suggest you go to px-5s.com . There you will find links to just about every resource about the PX-5S including a great FAQ, videos, and more. I know you're not looking to do tons of programming with it, but there's also lots linked there that will help you get started understanding it.
  14. You can also load in an alternate stage setting listing that groups the banks by type, so bank one is pianos, bank two are tine EPs, three is reed EPs, etc. You can find this alternate stage setting setup in the downloads area here. Generally, most of us use the Stage Settings to get around, especially once we have set them up the way we need them.
  15. I would also suggest trying to insert and remove the headphone jack from the keyboard to see if that clears it. It could be that the switch in the headphone jack that turns off the internal speakers is sticking.

  17. Hmmm. That is interesting then. I'm not sure where the issue might be. I will have to ponder it. Meanwhile, you might want to dig around online and see if you can find your solution elsewhere. I'm not exactly sure where would be best to try, but you could try Apple's support discussions, the forums here http://www.macosaudio.com , the forums at MacRumors, and maybe even Keyboard Corner at forums.musicplayer.com.
  18. That will do, though you shouldn't have this issue. I'm not sure where in the chain the problem exists, but we now know it's not the Casio. Some setting in your Mac(s) could be better, but I cannot tell what from here. I still think you should do this. If that's also too quiet, then we can narrow it down and suggest some possibilities for you.
  19. MIDI Monitor should tell you how hard you are striking the keys. The values should range for 0-127. If you're not getting anywhere near 127 when you play hard, that could be an issue. Another thing you could try if you have access to one is to try another keyboard with your Mac. If you have the same problem, it's in the Mac somewhere. Next thing to try based on what you wrote is playing back something else through whatever DAW you're using. For instance, there are tons of loops that come with GarageBand. Drop one of those in GB and play it. If the volume of that is also low, then it has nothing to do with the keyboard. It's some setting in your computer. Here's one crazy possibility — are you sure it's playing back through the headphones and not the internal speaker? Take the headphones off and listen to where the sound is coming from.
  20. If you're really concerned, you could do what Casio did when they shipped it. I know on mine, there was some light tape along the front edge of the keys. You'd have to use a tape that didn't leave any residue.
  21. Nah, shouldn't be a problem.
  22. That Casio Privia bag is fine. It's probably the best fit out there. Many of us use it all the time. Like any gig bag, it depends on how you use it. If you're loading in with lots of other gear, any gig bag might not be enough.
  23. You should be able to save a WAV file to the USB flash drive, insert it, and select the file from the audio recorder. See pages EN-47 and EN-57 of the manual.
  24. What kind of pedal (make, manufacturer) is it?
  25. I'm not stopping you. If you feel you get what you need from software alone, go for it. If you still think the question needs to be answered, why don't you contact the person who wrote the post that you linked to?
