Casio PX-5S as a Virtual Piano Controller
Joe Muscara replied to Totentanzz's topic in Privia Pro PX-5S
Ivory II mainly their American Grand, VI Labs' Ravenscroft though their others are good as well, PIanoteq, and probably a few others I'm forgetting at this hour. P.S. VST is the name of the Cubase plug-in format. Logic, MainStage, and GarageBand use AU, Pro Tools uses AAX I think, and there might be one or two others. "Plug-in" is thus more generic. -
RECORD YOUR PLAYING - SIMPLE STEP BY STEP INSTRUCTIONS
Joe Muscara replied to Skyscrapersax's topic in Privia Pro PX-5S
Someone did do an index of the videos Mike made, but I can't recall who nor where they were. -
I would see how it goes from now on. If it continues to work, leave it alone. If it acts up again, start investigating more about fixing it long term. I would think having to disconnect the pedal all the time would be annoying.

Yep. You can have one slider turn something up and another thing down at the same time. It's very useful for effects, or to crossfade between two layers.

Fortunately, McKinney is over 260 miles from here. Unfortunately, that kind of behavior by a cop is too common in the U.S. and could have happened anywhere. I don't think all cops are bad, far from it. I think most of them mean well at the very least. But I think the problem is systemic and we have to find ways to make cops handle situations better, as I think they're generally trained this way. Enough of that!! I'm more glad that you got it sorted. I was just thinking I needed to look at this for you.

How do I connect my Casio Privia PX-150 to an amp/D.I. box?
Joe Muscara replied to morphiah's topic in Privia x50 x60 Series
That looks like a TRS adapter or what many would call a stereo adapter. Make sure the headphones are plugged in all the way. I've had some of those be surprisingly tight on that side. Do you have something else you can try the headphones and adapter on, like a stereo? -
Why was this urgent? Was something on fire?

Thanks, guys. We were at the Rockets game when the storms hit Monday night. I thought it would be the usual - storms blow through, maybe have to wait a little at the arena until it was clear enough to walk back to the car. Instead, we were there until 230 AM and didn't get home until after 430 due to flooded roads and another strong cell that came through while we were deciding which way to go. So we parked at a high spot and waited for a bit. That might not have been so bad except we were getting reports on Facebook of houses down the block from ours with water getting in them so we had some worries. Fortunately everything was fine when we got home. Even screwier is that even though you're hearing reports about flooding in Texas, the storms near Austin are three hours drive away and happened a few days before Houston got hit. I guess it might have been the same weather patterns, but only slightly. While we were predicted to get storms Monday night, nothing like that was expected.

Using the knobs and sliders on the PX-5S in your DAW is nice. I had some tiny occasion to want the PX-350 with built-in speakers, to play for a small room full of people. Instead I had to lug an amp (PA speaker, actually). But when I play with a band or the room is larger, I need that amp anyway. You probably can find some speakers that you can use with the PX-5S for when you're away from your monitors but don't need all the volume of an amp or PA speaker.

You posted that just as I was getting home due to the flooding here. Sorry, I'll still be a while. We're fine, but I'm wiped out.

You should contact Casio and see what can be done, and/or the seller to see if they handle this sort of thing. I know it's trouble but it would be better to have the whole ship righted.

Can you send MIDI info to the other keyboard with other Stage Settings?
-
I just listened to the WAV file. Ouch. That needs to be fixed. I'd be concerned that whatever is causing that will eventually affect all of the sounds. Where are you located, where did you buy it, and when did you buy it?
-
Are you sure something hasn't come loose and is resonating at those frequencies? Try using headphones and see if it's the sound or something physical that is loose or vibrating.

Actually, Summer NAMM moved to Austin for a couple of years around 2007 or so. While it was really convenient for me, the East Coasters didn't like it as Nashville was close enough for many to drive and Austin isn't. As far as trade shows, Mike/Casio does a lot of them. However, they're not all open to the public as they are often industry trade shows and they don't want everyone and his brother crowding up the place. Even NAMM is an industry trade show, though Summer NAMM has had the public day on the last day in recent years. I'm not seeing that on this year's Summer NAMM site, but I might be missing it.

The one aspect of Logic that I have not played with. If I get a chance, I will give it a whirl sometime and let you know.
-
I'm confused - you have MIDI out *off*? Maybe you're describing something else, but wouldn't that need to be on?
-
You can allow that on an app-by-app basis so it's not off all the time. Option-click on the app and choose Open.

Do you hear it with the volume turned down?
