  1. In the new ALL file, it looks like 6 Draw Organ is 4-6. Try that. Also, there are similar Draw (short for drawbar) organs in the Downloads section. You should be able to add the Leslie effect to other organs and even other sounds like any other effect. I don't recall the details offhand, but once you find where it is on 6 Draw Organ, you should be able to do that for other Stage Settings. Or, get you a Burn!
  2. 1. You should be able to plug the audio outs of the PX-5S into the two inputs on the front. 2. I've never seen anyone except Avid ship an interface that works only with their software. I found this on the Downloads page for the iTwo Studio "The AudioBox iSeries interfaces are class compliant core audio devices. No driver installation is necessary for OSX 10.4 or above. Simply plug in your AudioBox iSeries interface to a free USB port on your Mac, then select it in your preferred DAW and record."
  3. I don't think the Transpose function is "deep in the menus," though I would agree that it's not as quick as some keyboards that have a dedicated Transpose button. If you know ahead of time that certain songs will require transpose, you can program pre-transposed Stage Settings. You can also set up a Stage Setting to be transposable on the fly using a slider or knob. From the FAQ I think there are numerous threads here about using MIDI Solutions Pedal Controller to control expression. http://www.midisolutions.com/prodped.htm Sorry, no other pedal solution is going to come from Casio in the form of a firmware update or anything. Expression requires a TRS jack, and the two pedal inputs are TS. Some people have talked about wiring a pedal to one of the sliders, but no one seems to have actually done that. The sliders or knobs work great for controlling what you might want an expression pedal to do, but I understand if you feel a pedal is necessary because your hands are occupied.
  4. Growling? I'm not sure what you mean by that.
  5. You can do that all with the PX-5S AFAIK. The PX-5S has MIDI In and Out, as well as MIDI over USB. If you wanted, you can set up the PX-5S to not make any sound and each of its four zones can be used to send over a different MIDI channel, or those same four zones can control internal sounds, or both. The sliders and knobs can each be set to a MIDI CC # depending on what you want to do. To do #3, you would just program different Stage Settings and change the Stage Setting with each song. For instance, this is from the PX-5S FAQ. To have a zone control an external sound only:
  6. I believe this is the Factory Stage Settings file you are looking for. I don't think they've changed since 1.10. http://www.casiomusicforums.com/index.php?/files/file/1-px-5s-v110-stage-settings/
  7. Good question for the FAQ! Press the Sys Setting button on the left, to the right of the volume knob. Scroll down to Information and Press the Enter key. The firmware version should be displayed on the screen.
  8. One of the reasons I moved this thread besides my obsession with organization is that the instructions for loading Stage Settings are in this topic area, either here or in the downloads topic. For individual Stage Settings see here -> http://www.casiomusicforums.com/index.php?/topic/4778-tutorial-how-to-install-px-5s-downloaded-files/ For an ALL file see here here -> http://www.casiomusicforums.com/index.php?/topic/6324-px-5s-updated-all-file/
  9. Before a free DAW, I'd try an app like MIDI OX (I think that's the one for PCs) or MIDI Monitor on the Mac to see what the computer is receiving from the keyboard. That might tell you if the computer is not receiving those 15th notes or if it's getting clogged up with too much data.
  10. Post a SoundCloud or YouTube recording of what you're hearing and we'll let you know for sure if this is normal or unusual.
  11. Congrats! It doesn't take much to make it do this sometimes. Hopefully it won't recur.
  12. Usually there's some dirt under the rubber contact strip that makes it transmit full velocity. If you're not under or worried about warranty and you're willing to do this yourself, I think there have been posts elsewhere about people taking their model apart. It's likely the assembly of the 720 is similar. There are probably a lot of screws to keep track of, and ribbon connectors to be careful with. If you don't want to do this yourself, find a keyboard service center near you.
  13. I'm like 90% sure that you can't update via the data editor. As far as Mounting Media, that tells me that when you're loading in new sounds, you're not doing that part correctly. The little icon next to the media button indicates you need to hold that button for a sec to activate that function. You should not see Mounting Media when you hold the button and get into the ability to load and save Stage Settings and Tones.
  14. Then I'm scratching my head if you've followed the steps posted previously. I'm sure we can get you sorted, we're just not asking you the right questions.
  15. The MUSICDAT folder should be on your USB drive and the ZAL file in that folder. See my post near the beginning of this thread for more details.
  16. It replaces the factory stage settings, along with any you may have edited. If you ever want to get back to the factory stage settings, that ALL file is available as well. But you won't. These are much better. As far as any you have edited, you can save those to your USB drive first and reload them on to your PX-5S afterwards.
  17. Brad's point is one I forgot about - zones. Make sure only one zone is sending. Another possibility is a MIDI loop. But check the zones thing first and let us know.
  18. I would format the USB drive in the PX-5S again, and see if it works. Put the update.bin file next to (not in) the MUSICDAT folder.
  19. In order to send MIDI to the 350, you'll have to use another DAW besides GarageBand. That's one of GB's intentional limitations. Lack of MIDI output and controlling external devices makes the application MUCH simpler! I think it doesn't even export MIDI files, though it may be able to with a third-party add-on. [some people tend to jump on the "Apple does that to make you buy Logic. What a rip-off!!!" bandwagon, but I truly believe that Apple did that in GB because controlling MIDI devices is very tricky and would have made GB a lot less obvious for beginning users. They've also made Logic a ridiculous value over the years.]
  20. There are two things that come to mind. One is that the PX-5S might be sending on multiple MIDI channels and you need to have your software listen to just one. The other is that the PX-5S has high resolution velocity CC #88 turned on by default and you might try turning this off.
  21. Updating the firmware should be very simple. Put the update.bin file on the USB drive. Don't put it in any folders on the USB drive, leave it at the top (root) level. Insert the USB drive in the PX-5S and turn it on. The PX-5S should see the update.bin file and start the update automatically. It may be easier to format the USB drive on the PX-5S, especially if you use a Mac. The PX-5S uses MS-DOS (FAT32) format, though a Mac can format that as well as read and write to it.
  22. I'm not familiar with that model in particular, but I'd bet you need a USB printer cable. That would have the flat male USB plug on one end to connect to the adapter (USB A), and the more square USB male plug on the other end to connect to the 450 (USB , somewhere on the back of it. If the USB port you're trying to connect to on the 450 is also flat, you're trying to connect to the wrong one. http://support.apple.com/kb/TA25613?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US http://www.datapro.net/techinfo/usb_info.html (See " WHAT ARE THE DIFFERENT TYPES OF CONNECTORS ?" at the bottom of the page)
