  1. How are you doing this sound? Do you have a real Hammond that you're basing it on?
  2. Attached to this post is a list of the Stage Settings. Don't thank me, thank Scott, whom I believe created it and shared it. Also, PIanoManChuck did a video where he went through all the stage settings, I think. Finally, there's a file in the Downloads section that has all the 1.10 Stage Settings. You can pull them out individually and reload each if you wish. PX-5S.Stage-Settings.Int.txt
  3. Yeah, I know. I don't see that I can send him an email, either.
  4. I hope I haven't lost him. I sent him some PMs but he hasn't read them.
  5. The generic Privia softcase works great. The PX-5S is the exact same size as the other models.
  6. Rockman59 - Just so you know, there is a PX3 topic area you can post these topics in. While I think the topics are getting the views you need, there might be more PX3 owners monitoring that topic area. In fact, I'm going to move these threads into that topic area if I can.
  7. Thanks for the report, jimmyjames. I'll see what the other mods want to do.
  8. What I see might be what you see. "This file has been reported as broken because: wrong data Reported by uzssabvg on Jul 11 2013 12:25 AM" I sent him a PM to ask what the problem is but have not received a response. He reported another as broken as well. Can you do me a favor? Download your uploaded file and install it on your PX-5S. Make sure that it makes the round trip 100% and is exactly what you expect. Make sure you don't confuse it with nor overwrite your original copy. Keep that one safe somewhere. It's possible he's having a problem on his end.
  9. "Don’t buy a new stage piano until you try the PX-5S" - Keyboard Magazine
  10. Ustream has its own chat. That would probably be your best bet. I'm guessing Mike might look around elsewhere for questions beforehand, but he may not have the chance or miss it.
  11. Wow - what are they telling you about the status?
  12. Keyboard mechanism is identical. Piano sounds are different. Whether or not the core samples are the same (and I think they're different, but I'm not 100% on that), the PX-5S is programmable. This allows sound design geniuses like Mike Martin to come up with many variations on the pianos (acoustic and electric) that you should be able to find or tweak one that suits your needs. Just check out the Downloads section here for some examples of the variations. At some point, there will probably be demos posted of comparisons.
  13. At home, I just have it running through my old studio monitors, meant for recording. The amp is an Alesis RA-100 and the speakers are the original Alesis Studio Ones. At gigs, I use a single QSC K10.
  14. Oops, sorry jazzdoc52. I did mean to mention in my previous post that the tutorial PDF was available online.
  15. jazzdoc52 - the simple answer is that you should be able to set the sliders (or knobs if you wish) to control individual volume layers. Just make sure that when you save the Stage Setting, the pads and strings layers volumes are at zero. Then, when you move their sliders, they will adjust that layer's volume. You should probably move those sliders to zero before you start playing so that when you adjust them, the volume doesn't jump to the current position. See pages E-8 and E-34-35 of the tutorial manual for more info. If you need more help on how to edit the slider targets, post back and someone will help (I don't recall the steps offhand).
  16. I've already suggested to Mike the following. I think the default location to load a Stage Setting should be the currently selected Stage Setting. The way I work is, I look around for a Stage Setting I'll never use or want to replace. Once I find it, then I go to load the new one. If the default location was the one where I was, then it would be really quick to replace it. Instead, now I have the additional steps of moving the cursor to the location and however many button pushes to change that. That's if I remembered the location. Sometimes, I have to exit completely out of the process to be sure and start all over again. Write it down, you say? That assumes that the piece of paper with the location written on it will be understandable for me, and I won't confuse it with all the other ones I've written down!
  17. Last night it was a bit slow for me (10 or 11 PM CT). This AM just now, the first time I tried the site I got a "server not responding" error from my browser. I tried again and it was fine. Most of the time it's fine, but sometimes I get slowness or errors. Of course, the problem could be on my end or somewhere in between, but I'm not having the trouble with other sites.
  18. I'm away from my PX-5S, but IIRC, you should be able to go to the zone that has the tone that you want to edit, and edit it from there. Have you tried this?
  19. While the docs say this, I've never actually had to do it. I am on a Mac as well.
  20. I've noticed in the days of the RD-700GX, that the Roland boards that had aftertouch (Fantom, I think) didn't have other piano-like features the RD series had. You could have aftertouch or piano-like, but not both. If that's the case, I'll take piano-like. Maybe Casio could figure out something that would not compromise on the piano-like action, but I don't know enough about it. Or, they could have a separate model with aftertouch. Personally, I've never used it. I think I had one board once that had it, and I only used it when I was goofing around with it.
  21. I understand. I hope you get it to work well for you, however that may be.
  22. Have you tried the third item in the first entry in the FAQ about reducing dynamic range? http://www.casiomusicforums.com/index.php?/topic/4202-px-5s-faq/
  23. Did you know you can go backwards from 0-0? For example, when you are loading a Stage Setting from a USB drive, if you want to load it in location 9-something, you can just press the - button to get there from 0-0 (the default). This also works in steps of ten, where you can hold down NUM KEY and press - to backwards.
  24. Software such as MainStage can actually track your hands and move the split point based on that. I have MainStage 1, and it works pretty well. I don't know if the current version of MainStage 2 works better. I would not be surprised if other software does this, but I haven't used anything else.
  25. Some of the EPs have a key-up sound. Try adjusting slider 3 and see if that changes it. What is K4 adjusting? Usually it's Hi EQ, but not always. If you only get the popping when it's adjusting EQ, I'd wait until firmware 1.10 ships as they changed some of the adjustments. If K4 pops no matter what you are adjusting, that's weird.
