  1. Hi, apps depend on iOS version and not on models. For sure it works on iOS 7 to 8.3. First generation iPads have iOS 5. I think midi designer pro runs on ios5 so it will work on these old iPads. All iPads require a camera connection kit to bridge the USB port to the old 30 pin port or the newer lighting port.
  2. Unfortunately ,loop points cannot be adjusted via midi.Only within the editor. (Casio support did replied to a mail I had send , great support)...It's time for some hacking.
  3. Glad I helped but As BradMZ, said you could use the chain sequencer. I hadn't tried it before and though it's used to chain patterns only, but it seems you can chain also the parts of the patterns. BUT , you have to save the sequence every time you make changes ,BEFORE playing the chain. It sucks a bit.
  4. Hmmm, I don't understand . In my G1 I just recorded a bass phrase ( only the key shift was on C) on E and plays back normally on E as it was recorded.
  5. Meaning you have to select lowest key C once ,when key-shift button is on (like XW-Addict said).
  6. Hi Martin, I think it's normal and you have to note shift the bass part ,like you did. But I am not 100% sure. Maybe someone else would confirm this.
  7. If you want to try http://puppylinuxstuff.meownplanet.net/aarf/Studio-PuppyStudio/ and ardour 4 http://puppylinuxstuff.meownplanet.net/10wt3ch/Ardour/
  8. Million thanks Brett M. I was afraid my XW was malfunctioning. Multifunction keys may work. Thanks for the tip! I'll try with the control part also but I don't think I can record pitch on the fly To be honest I don't like how the mixer works. Hope next generation XW series have better workflow .
  9. I thought there would be more tablet users, lol! I have something in mind that may run on all platforms ,the graphic environment is tricky.
  10. Hi, I went a bit crazy and tried to pitch shift the drums on a sequence. But didn't work so went on mixer and gave full 24steps ,jamm a little and when I returned to the performance or sequencer mode no more pitch shift. Went back to the mixer page again and verified that all drum parts had full pitch bend range. Then something weird happens. Pitchbend works only when I move from part to part using the part +/- buttons. It's like re-assigning the pitchbend range.(although I clearly see the range is already set to max) Is it possible to make the drum parts listen to the pitchwheel permanently on a performance?
  11. I asked some time ago on casio support ,if it was possible to change the loop points via sysex commands . Got email and told me ,they would ask the XW engineers ,but never got an answer . Maybe it's time to ask again ! @XW-Addict do you have an example using side band filtering? It sounds already good!
  12. Ok, On Performance Mode assign a Knob (eg Knob4) to the following NRPN MSB 37 LSB 01 LSB Now use a Control Part of the Sequencer and link whatever part of the pattern you want by choosing the K4 knob. When the part ends ,it will change to the part you assigned (0-7 corresponds to part 1-8). Not recommended since the G1 spits tones of NPRN on external gear and may cause timing issues if you sync. Also if you linked eg Part1 and Part 2 for 32step sequence you have to use your ninja skills to change manually to other pattern (on the exact moment the previous pattern ends.) But , Happy part chaining... PS. Thanks Michael ! PS2. Maybe it opens doors to sequence tones , phrases ,arps etc...
  13. Thanks, I have a strong feeling that midi in for the sequencer is set to "off" by default...so I should check that first!
  14. Hi Michael Anders, I will try later but you can try recording on an empty sequence a NRPN/pattern change on the end of the pattern 1 that points to a pattern 2 change. I don't know if it is possible since the Control Part of the sequencer can record only midi CC data and not NRPN. I mean doing this on the G1 sequencer and not using external gear. Update: Maybe it is possible to assign on knob4 a NRPN midi and then write on the Control Part a change for the knob4. Will definitely try it. Update2: Did anyone try the midi file?I have enabled the NRPN on midi settings, I see on midiox the messages when switching patterns but the midi file do not change the pattern. Did I miss something?
  15. I edited the Poll ,added Windows/Mac/Linux option and count your vote (could not edit ) as a Linux app!
  16. Hi Gary ,Midi remapper vst plugins already exists like pizmidi plugins (Edit: link not working,my bad) https://code.google.com/p/pizmidi/downloads/list Cockos Reaper DAW has also some midi vst, Another option is the free ( but needs donation) http://www.bome.com/products/miditranslator/overview/classic The concept is simple : Transform midi CC to another. If you need help ,please ask
  17. Hi, Based on http://www.casiomusicforums.com/index.php?/topic/5030-how-to-use-xw-g1-sliders-knobs-as-software-controllers-in-daw-virtual-instruments/ I wonder if you would like using the sliders of the G1 to control other synth apps or other hardware synth.
  18. @Jokeyman123 You can charge whatever you want for most open source programs and even re-sell them. But you are obliged to point to a downloadable source. For example look at the http://www.getstudio1337.com/ This distro is for sale. The guy has any right to do it ,BUT he is wrong on not making it public to the community. (it's puppy-based distro) The good part is that if I buy the distro ,I can resell it for 1$ or give it away free to public.
  19. A bass player can control both rhythm and melody in a band....underground power....! There are some cool apps for realtime conversion out there ,no need to go thru hardware...
  20. Maybe spend some time making a custom "empty" preset and keep it as a reference for building patches. I will try it on weekend and upload it.
  21. Puppy is great minimal footprint disto. Only thing it kept me off ,was the file management. But I was shocked when experimenting on a pentium 3 (with 512 maxed RAM),ancient machine which could act as a solid midi sequencer and 8 track robust recorder! Maybe some day (if it still works) I will replace the Hdd with a compact flash card...
  22. Another Linux user here. I usually dual boot with windows 8.1 . Unfortunately there are applications not running on linux systems and have to use windows. But since win7 and later (especially on win8.x) there is huge improvement on the kernel for audio applications and the performance boost is noticeable. When people ask me which os to use I suggest the one appropriate with their needs (I am not a micros*ft hater anymore). For music making in linux, I strongly suggest 2 distros ,especially for people that have not much experience on tweaking a linux machine: -AVLinux -KXStudio Most things work out of the box .
  23. Take some DOOS (and a clap) PS. It's not easy to seperate the vocals from a song and the particular needs advanced techniques. Dooo.zip
  24. THERE IS A WORKAROUND SO THE SLIDERS CAN SEND MIDI CC (and use the G1 sliders for controlling a virtual synth in your PC) First turn local off. Then make sure that all parts send midi to the output . (PERFORMANCE->EDIT->MIDI->Midi_Out). Assign the Rotary Knobs (not the sliders) a MidiCC ,to control whatever you like and SAVE the patch. Now goto MIXER and select volume (or pan ,tune etc). Magic vodoo ,the sliders transmit MidiCC (with visual feedback on the Screen!). Use a midi CC mapper (I personally use Bome's MidiTranslator) and assign / re-map the CC messages to whatever you like. Happy jamming
