I bought the Privia PX-5S a few months ago, and I'm really loving it. Sorry for the double post, I meant to post in this forum but also posted this in the general casio forum. Anyway: Lately, I have become interested in concentrating on the Hammond organ sound - I've been inspired by Jimmy Smith's "Root Down" album. I think I can get some decent organ sounds using the various downloads I have found on the site. But having never played an actual Hammond before (or any organ, for that matter), I'm not sure if the PX-5S's keybed is right for this style of music - I'm talking about uptempo, funky organ, not funeral home organ. I'm thinking about getting a Hammond XK1C because it has waterfall keys and may be better suited for that type of playing - not to replace the PX-5S, but as a second, dedicated module. But I'm wondering if I'm just wasting my money. Is it that difficult to play those types of fast runs on the PX-5S, or is the Casio really going to limit me? Keep in mind that I'm a relative beginner on piano and organ.

Ah - just figured it out a few minutes after I posted! Instead of using "Layer 1 volume," I should have been assigning the sliders to "CC 11 Expression."

I am trying to create a simple sound bank that uses two zones, where I can use Slider 1 to control the volume of zone 1, and Slider 2 to control the volume of zone 2. I know this can be done, and I've read instructions that seem to show how to do this, but I am just stuck. Here's what I'm doing. Say I have a piano assigned to Zone 1, and a horn assigned to Zone 2. I have edited the sound bank so that in Zone 1, slider 2 is turned off and slider 1 is targeted to "Layer 1 volume". For Zone 2, slider 1 is turned off, and slider 2 is targeted to "Layer 2 volume." When I play the notes, manipulating the sliders don't make any impact on the sound. The LCD indicates that the volumes should be changing, but they're not. I feel like there is some simple step I am just plain missing. Can anybody help?

Thanks. Are you referring to an "auto-wah" type setting? I'm more interested in a "manual-wah," as if I were playing a guitar through a wah pedal.

Hi everyone. Just purchased a PX-5S, although I haven't picked it up yet (hopefully in the next day or two). I'm interested in getting a controllable wah sound, but I have read that there is no expression pedal input. I assume this means that I can't simply plug in a pedal into the keyboard and have it act as a wah pedal. I play guitar, and I have an analog Dunlop Cry Baby Wah pedal. Would it sound decent if I just plug the output of the PX-5S into the wah, and then the output of the wah pedal into my speakers? If not, then are there any other options to achieve what I'm looking for? I have read some posts suggesting that the Behringer FCB1010 can accomplish this, but other posts suggest that is not correct. Thanks!
