Can the two pedal connectors available with PX-5S perform the function of the outer two pedals of a real piano? His teacher revealed today that they would rarely use the middle pedal in the real piano neither during the lessons nor during the exams, so theoretically PX-5S configurable two pedal connectors should suffice. But not sure as I have just read the PX-5S manual and do know the functions the outer two pedals of a real piano perform. 

We would like to choose either PX-5S or PX-350 for my 9 yrs old son who is ABRSM: Grade 1 piano player in UK. I understand that PX-350 has a 3 pedal unit connector at the bottom whereas PX-5S does not. If we choose to buy PX-5S, can somebody please elaborate on how not having a 3 pedal connector will impact his piano education(if at all)? Thanks in anticipation.
