  1. I ended up getting the P1 for the drawbar organ... throw in a rotary pedal and it sounds nice for not much $$.  I use the P1 on top of the 5S when playing out and practicing.  You get solo synth and hex analog sounds different than the 5S, and I can nearly match any song out there on one board or the other.

  2. I live in Maine and AFAIK there's only a guy in Portland that I've talked with that repairs keys and other electric instruments.  I don't have his contact info, and he's not an authorized repair person for any company, but if you ask maybe at Guitar Center they may have his info... not sure if they use his services.  Prob best to pack it up and drive down to Dover NH, the nearest service center... I didn't know they were an authorized repair center until i just looked it up.

  3. i think i asked about this on the XW-P1 forum long ago, and looked into trying to program it, but there are so many variations in tone, attack, release and bending that I gave it up.  I had more luck with the harmonica tone, but wow, the pedal steel generates some user massaging beyond what is capable with a synth.  that said, there are some very creative people on this site.

  4. OK, I just posted this for the PX-5S, but for the XW, I want to use an iRig Blueboard to change performance presets.  It uses two prog or ctrl values of 0-127 for its 4 buttons.  I'm not obviously great at figuring out midi (say i'm a midiot  :P ) but how do you figure out which value to use?  Does the x,21 refer to prog and x,31 refer to ctrl values?

  5. not too sharp on midi, but is anyone using the iRig Blueboard thru their iPad to change SS or anything?

The app uses prog and ctl changes, ext 1 and ext 2.  The midi imp chart is of course confusing... to change banks does using the bank select CC (00H, 20H) or 0, 32 for the exts... is that how it works?  The codes in the iRig prog only to to 127.   Anyone have codes that may work for doing things on the PX or XW???

  6. give em hell, Mike... i've got all kinds of keyboards and electronics with MAYBE ONE update and hardly any support from the company directly.  Mike's inputs and value/price point are why I bought the PX and XW in the first place.  Like I tell people all the time... you want all these features??? then start up your own company, engineer the products and manufacture your own!  all for a reasonable price.  (insert whiney smiley face here)

  7. it's tricky...  name it     TAKE00   .

don't hold down the media button or it will want to load only certain files... press it once quickly for TAKE00, twice for TAKE01 etc.  the manual says something like 'press the appropriate number of times' which didn't help me until i figured this out.

  8. did u buy a computer and expect to start building your own iPad apps by punching a few keys with it?  sorry, but we've had this before in the forum where peeps buy a programmable synth and think they just hit a couple of buttons to do whatever they dream of, and b&c on this forum... that ain'd gonna happen.

BUT, this is one of the best forums i've participated in that helps people get 'that patch they want', and i belong to Roland, Korg, and Yamaha groups ever since forums started on the internet ... but it is a lot of effort to learn this stuff, and you know, some peeps brain cells are just not equipped to learn this stuff.  i've prob read the book 20 times and still can't do a lot of the things I'd like to do, and i've worked as a database programmer and coder.  Mike Martin, Scott and many others do their best to get information out to help people learn this stuff.
