  1. I've loved this song since it was made... I have a patch for it on the XW, but the only prob is i need someone to teach me how to play the two-handed bass-chord syncopation... and get my band to want to play it.
  2. what??? "Mike has assured me that they would find someone in Maine to do their authorized repairs." Has he ever been to Maine? I can try to track down that keyboard repair guy and give him the info if it would help.
  3. Galileo organ has great sounds... altho I use them thru the XW-P1 with the built in organ sound....prob one of my fav apps. I use Songbook for managing my songs to play (lyrics & chords) on the iPad, altho you prob have to adapt the guitar chords for piano.
  4. #1 sounds smoother with the keystrokes, #2 seemed to have more attack and less resonance at the end of the notes... I would guess that #2 is the Casio just from the key action... but the sound could maybe be adjusted to the smoother #1. ????
  5. I ended up getting the P1 for the drawbar organ... throw in a rotary pedal and it sounds nice for not much $$. I use the P1 on top of the 5S when playing out and practicing. You get solo synth and hex analog sounds different than the 5S, and I can nearly match any song out there on one board or the other.
  6. Depends on your use... gigging small or large audience? personal use? price preference? Many pro players use the QSC K12s, Yamaha DSR, EV ETX line with a sub, small group systems include the Bose L1 system.
  7. I think a podcast is the way to go... I may listen to it but I'd think it would be rather limited compared to the many FB group posts and You Tube vids. Maybe I'm wrong.
  8. I live in Maine and AFAIK there's only a guy in Portland that I've talked with that repairs keys and other electric instruments. I don't have his contact info, and he's not an authorized repair person for any company, but if you ask maybe at Guitar Center they may have his info... not sure if they use his services. Prob best to pack it up and drive down to Dover NH, the nearest service center... I didn't know they were an authorized repair center until i just looked it up.
  9. yeah, i have the XW and PX and have tried to load zpf files and got the wrong data error... then i figured out it was for the other synth,,, confusing.
  10. i think i asked about this on the XW-P1 forum long ago, and looked into trying to program it, but there are so many variations in tone, attack, release and bending that I gave it up. I had more luck with the harmonica tone, but wow, the pedal steel generates some user massaging beyond what is capable with a synth. that said, there are some very creative people on this site.
  11. thought I'd just throw this link in here in case someone searches this thread: http://www.ustream.tv/casiomusicgear these are also on You Tube.
  12. i was using the polysynth but you're right, it doesn't sound perfect. Maybe I'll mix in a brassy sound on a zone. Pls post if u added a sound that makes it good.
  13. OK, I just posted this for the PX-5S, but for the XW, I want to use an iRig Blueboard to change performance presets. It uses two prog or ctrl values of 0-127 for its 4 buttons. I'm not obviously great at figuring out midi (say i'm a midiot ) but how do you figure out which value to use? Does the x,21 refer to prog and x,31 refer to ctrl values?
  14. not too sharp on midi, but is anyone using the iRig Blueboard thru their iPad to change SS or anything? The app uses prog and ctl changes, ext 1 and ext 2. The midi imp chart is of course confusing... to change banks does using the bank select CC (00H, 20H) or 0, 32 for the exts... is that how it works? The codes in the iRig prog only to to 127. Anyone have codes that may work for doing things on the PX or XW???
  15. give em hell, Mike... i've got all kinds of keyboards and electronics with MAYBE ONE update and hardly any support from the company directly. Mike's inputs and value/price point are why I bought the PX and XW in the first place. Like I tell people all the time... you want all these features??? then start up your own company, engineer the products and manufacture your own! all for a reasonable price. (insert whiney smiley face here)
  16. it's tricky... name it TAKE00 . don't hold down the media button or it will want to load only certain files... press it once quickly for TAKE00, twice for TAKE01 etc. the manual says something like 'press the appropriate number of times' which didn't help me until i figured this out.
  17. i use the RT-20 for the same reasons stated above by skiranged... but check out this video of Jim Alfredson demo'ing the new Neo Vent II awesome with the Hammond XK-1C. http://youtu.be/pxF_MkTWQYE
  18. i've found the upload interface to be rather clunky... i think i first tried it in the Downloads forum which didnt' work... and went thru the same issues that you did when i tried my first upload.
  19. i added a distortion dsp to one of my organ tones... just used one instead of the rotary since im using a rotary box ... you can use or edit DSP 03 Dist, 23 CmpDst, 33 DstRef, 34 DstTrm... you can edit the DSP to your liking and save it... turned out nice.
  20. Version 1

I noticed a performance list file that seemed popular on this site, so I thought I'd put up my list for keeping track of my XW-P1 User Performance List and PX-5S Stage Settings List. It's different from other lists I've seen, as I've changed the structure quite a bit from the original set. If you have 2 synths like me, it may come in handy if you edit this with your settings... especially if you have the XW and PX. Its an Excel file.
  21. this is for the XW-P1 right? i get a load error. is there an order to load them?
  22. did u buy a computer and expect to start building your own iPad apps by punching a few keys with it? sorry, but we've had this before in the forum where peeps buy a programmable synth and think they just hit a couple of buttons to do whatever they dream of, and b&c on this forum... that ain'd gonna happen. BUT, this is one of the best forums i've participated in that helps people get 'that patch they want', and i belong to Roland, Korg, and Yamaha groups ever since forums started on the internet ... but it is a lot of effort to learn this stuff, and you know, some peeps brain cells are just not equipped to learn this stuff. i've prob read the book 20 times and still can't do a lot of the things I'd like to do, and i've worked as a database programmer and coder. Mike Martin, Scott and many others do their best to get information out to help people learn this stuff.
  23. yep, i went to Zone Param page 8 and turned the arp enable to OFF. that worked for a performance i did recently where i had a bass on the left keyboard zone that was ARP'd (zone 1) and the normal guitar on the right key zone (zone 2).
  24. i use the Boss RT-20... prob not as good as the others but i got a deal on a used one, and a step up from the on-board rotary.
