  1. The sliders and almost all buttons on the WK's do NOT work as Midi controllers. The XW-P1 would be a much better choice for a controller for 61 keys or the PX-5s for weighted 88 keys.
  2. Hopefully it is accurate . Feel free to correct!

  5. This is a tutorial covering how to load tones that were downloaded from the Casioforum site. I couldn't find instructions anywhere on how to do this. It took me forever but I figured it out. The user manual only shows how to get the USB stick to work on the board, Make sure you put the files in a MUSICDAT folder before loading it on the USB stick. You can make the MUSICDAT folder on your Computer or by formatting the stick on the keyboard. You can find the files after inserting the stick in the keyboard and holding the media key down, then hitting Load/Enter, Stage Settings/Enter and the +- buttons. Then hit the > button and then +- again, get numbers like 0-3, 2-4,etc (which are the stage settings,so select where you want the new ones to go), press enter/"replace"/yes, and get "complete!" This overwrites existing Stage settings in that spot so make sure you really want to replace them. There is a list of all the installed stage settings on this forum somewhere and on the Facebook page. To find your newly installed stage settings, press the Bank button first, then press the bank number and then the number within that bank (e.g. 0-5, 2-7, etc.)
  6. The Vintage setting is an adjustable parameter available to all Drawbar organ voices when you hit the EDIT button. You can choose between Vintage and Sin (Sine wave). The vintage setting emulates the crosstalk found on most Hammond tonewheel organs and sounds more authentic. Another parameter available in that menu is Mod or "Modulation," but selecting and changing it produces absolutely no change in sound even with the mod button down IIRC. Thus my question- what the heck is it there for?
  7. I think those pianos that don't say stereo are mono which is actually a good thing for a a Mono FOH set-up. I tried setting up my Yamaha EMX 312 PA 4 speaker system in its mono or Monitor/ (Front) Main switch mode and turned down the Monitors so all I could hear was the Mono Fronts (FOH) which were pointed at me. Then I compared the WK-7500's Grand and Bright Pianos to the Stereo Grand and Stereo Bright Pianos. The Grand and Bright sounded fine through the "FOH" speakers but the stereo piano voices had some obvious phasing going on when summed to mono. When I disconnected just the left channel while using the stereo pianos the phasing disappeared but so did the fullness of the sound. BTW You can really improve the piano sounds on the WK-7500 by hooking up an equalizer (it has no internal EQ for some strange reason) and setting just the left channel to about 8 to 11 steps higher from 800 to 100hz respectively. This gives it much better bottom end. They are also a bit brighter than my Yamaha keyboards which you can also EQ down if you prefer. I like the top end as is ,however, as it cuts through a band mix well. Also if you go to the tone editor and increase the release time to anywhere from 26-31 you can correct the too-abrupt decay that these pianos voices have.
  8. Are any of the AP Piano voices on the WK-7500 mono? There are some listed as "stereo" piano while others (e.g. Grand, Rock) don't say Stereo so are they mono? Thanks Bob
  9. Holy Cow. The repaired WK-7500 arrived at my door this morning. It only took a week including shipping to get it done! Midi output now working fine. Cantabile recognized the Casio driver immediately.
  10. Casio service dept. diagnosed the WK-7500's no midi problem as needing "Main body, circuit board" replacement. They are taking care of it for me. Thanks Mike Martin for your assistance with this!
  11. Actually I have no idea where I got this pedal from and what brand it is. It is just a small square pedal and says "made in Italy" on the bottom. The top label is missing. I have discovered with the 3700 that the pedal is working intermittently....sometimes does not work at all. I have used it for years with my WK-3800 and WK-7500 with no problem. It's probably just ready for the trash can! I aslo tried Cantabile/VB3 with the 3700's midi in/out ports with my netbook & midi in/out-usb cable and it works no problem. Like the other WK's I have used (3800/7500) only the pedal (when it works), mod wheel and keys on the 3700 can control anything.
  12. The sustain pedal also works in reverse with my guitar player's 3700. I opened the pedal up. All solders good, everything intact. No big deal as pedals are cheap enough, but how in the world can a pedal reverse its own polarity?
  13. There is no polarity switch on this pedal and it is not a Yamaha pedal. It always worked fine with the WK until that board's recent midi problems. Rebooting the keyboard with it plugged in did nothing. Actually I have no idea where I got this pedal from and what brand it is. It is just a small square pedal and says "made in Italy" on the bottom. The top label is missing. It or the WK output seems to have reversed polarity. All my other boards are Yamahas so I can't really check it with another Casio. (Actually though, our guitar player has a 3700 so I guess I'll have him try it) When VB3 was working with the WK, I did try to assign the pedal to the VB3 OD switch so I could kick in some distortion while playing with 2 hands but that did not work. I may have reversed the polarity on the pedal on VB3 as well when I did that but I then reset the pedal in VB3 back to the Leslie switch with normal polarity. Everything re. midi on the WK was working fine at that point. With Mike's help, the WK will be going out to Casio customer service next week anyway.
  14. I can't get a consistent reading with my multimeter's ohm setting which I put on lowest and placed the positive red pin on the tip and the neg on the sleeve of the 1/4" pin. Same thing when I test my Yamaha pedal. I have had a hard time getting very low readings on anything with this multimeter. Now the pedal I have been using for the Casio is working in reverse. Sustain is on constantly until I depress the pedal. It seems to have somehow reversed its polarity.
  15. I don't own a Privia but that apparently may not be true as the WK-7500 which was first produced at over 2 years ago is Class Compliant. Check this out: I heard of problems with the Ipad 1 with keyboard controllers but not the new ones. I borrowed this from a recent post by Scott Hamlin to me to see if the issue is in your laptop: Go to your device manager Double click on Universal Serial Bus Controller to expand Find USB Root Hub (there may be more than one) Right click and select properties Click the power management tab (you may have to go to "change settings") Unselect "Allow the computer to turn of this device to save power" Click OK Repeat with any other USB Root Hubs listed Hope it helps Bob
  16. Not sure if it is related but my Sustain pedal on the WK, which also was working fine before, is now not working right either. I checked the General settings and it is on "SUS."
  17. Thanks for your help all. This will be going out for repair. BTW only Privia and Celviano digital pianos are covered for 3 years, the rest of the products are one year.
  18. Unplugging the Nano control from my computer usb port produces a noise and the mouse pointer changes. Unplugging the Casio does nothing. I already tried all 3 ports with no dice. I already tried swapping cables and swapping computers with the WK, neither my Ipad, Asus or full sized Toshiba lab top will work with it but they will work with VB3/Cantabile and my Yamaha. Both cables work fine with my Yammy as well. I tried Intializing 3 times and also reset the defaults on the WK to original. My multimeter indicates a 3-4 V out put on the WK's USB port. The problem has to be with the keyboard. Pretty sure I did register this with Casio so I guess I'll have to find an authorized Casio repair center in Central MA. BTW all cables were disconnected when it was transported as it would not have fit the case connected....but definitely good advice!
  19. Thanks Brad and Ted, Yes, I'm running Windows 7 on both computers. I'll check the mouse pointer today. Also I'm going to check the USB jack with a multi meter as I think it is supposed have a 5 v dc signal to carry the midi code when the keyboard is on.
  20. Ted, I checked inside the USB jack with a flash light and everything is intact. Nothing broken or lose. When i grasp the middle prong with small needle nose pliers (not touching contacts of course) it does not move. The whole assembly does move a tiny bit back and forth and up and down but I think it was always that way. Although the USB connector on my Yamaha seems more stable.
  21. Thanks Detailed reply on KC. Still won't work. I believe the issue is with the WK-7500
  22. I have been using my WK-7500 as a controller for VB3 (with the aid of a Korg Nanocontroller) with an Asus netbook for the last month in my studio and it has been working perfectly. I decided to move the set up to our band's practice space last night and it would not fit in the transport case with the usb cable connected on the back of the WK so I only disconnected that from my midi set up. When I got to band practice, I replugged the USB cable in the back, turned on the WK, went to Function/Midi/ Enter/ Local Control Off as I had been doing, turned on the netbook/Cantabile Lite/VB3, and the Nano Controller would control VB3 but the WK's keys and pedal would not work. When I went to Cantabile's midi setup panel it said the Casio Midi input was "disconnected." I tried another USB cable that I tested with another keyboard and found working properly but same problem. I tried my Ipad with Igrand and it would not recognize that either. Same thing with my fullsized laptop They all used to work with the WK and Midi aps. my other keyboards work fine with Cantabile Lite/VB3 and Igrand. For some reason the WK-7500 won't ouput USB midi. When I got it back home Cantabile did not even list it anymore in its Midi setup menu. I don't think I bent the midi input jack as all seems solid and secure. It does not wiggle anymore than my other boards' usb inputs. Is there something I need to reset to get the midi output back or would I have to return the WK to its original settings by re initializing it? (which would lose my custom user drawbar settings-not sure if the sd card can save those-gotta look that up) Thanks Bob
  23. Wow did not realize the sounds in GB on Ipad were that good! Going to try this with my Ipad and 7500.
  24. had to remove....no way of deleting a post here?
