  1.  MZ does not have weighted keys this is the major factor why I did not buy any XW, MZ.

I had PSR for many years (20) did not like its action  (however sounds are great as well as arrangement features ).

When I started learning piano it served well for a month or two.

Then I felt that I am missing something important.

The first chose was CDP.  It was totally fine. My family disliked it very much due to its nosiness.

CDP was replaced within a year for PX360.  I had a hope that a higher model will provide better/quieter keys-bed.

    Nope, it did not happen.

The sound quality is better but the keys-bed was exactly the same.

I had to start looking for some other brands.

Roland , Kurzweil,  Korg, Yamaha, Kawai.

The truth is I have never had a good look at Kawai and Kurzweil they are pretty rare in the demo rooms.

The Roland FA (used one) had a perfect keyboard. Still, the most fun for me in terms of a feel.

I always kept in mind a sound engineering subject. This served as the reason for switching to Montage (now I have two subject to learn ;)

    - MZ did not get in the list not because of the brand, but due to its class (I still like the concept of it as well as of XW and P5S).

In all honesty, if I had a lot of money, a budget of 5000 euros, I would have bought the Genos,
for example. But I'm happy with this very good keyboard MZ X.

    You should try.

You are playing piano for 4 years. If you would save $200 every month you would have by now $9000.

See what you actually would buy(it is very tricky) ;)

How do you like the manual for MZ? Is it useful?

I think that even commercial reproduction of the built-in instrument styles will be OK, provided that you don't infringe the "right to publicity" of the original vendor.

Take for example a lineup of synthesizers from a certain... y... vendor 😉. They openly advertise them as having sounds of the vintage "Rd" "Wr" "Clv" instruments. This has been tested in courts to not infringe on the rights of Rhodes, Wurlitzer & Hohner Clavinet, whoever owns those brands nowadays. Other synthesizer from the same family sports:

    1. H, American tonewheel organ

    2. V, British transistor organ

    3. F, Italian transistor organ

    4. A, Japanese transistor organ

You can google (or bing) the actual names yourself. The sampled grand piano segment is full of references to "American grand" (Steinway made in Astoria,NY) , "German grand" (Steinway made in Hamburg), "Italian grand" (Fazioli), etc. Only Ravenscroft breaks out of this mold by explicitly licensing its name.

Little bit of creativity (musical & technological) plus some time spent with a thesaurus will cover you quite well.

and 'y' sells their synths with royalty-free license by default. (at least the latest models)

Which means to me you have to buy it first (I can be wrong).

So I'm looking at the teaser video again and another one that was posted on Facebook.  I'm seeing a keyboard that's definitely slimmer than the current Privia's.  I'm hearing much more of the sustain in the piano samples.  The control panel looks very modern.

Edit: Apparently the video link didn't work.  Not sure why.

When I hear about longer sustain I think about CDP. This model does have too short sustain (~6 seconds).

Several years back, not only Mike Martin but Craig Anderton were just about gob smacked  ( translation "Whoa DUDE!" ) when I posted this little thing done ENTIRELY on a CASIO:

I don't quite understand what it proves. This can be done without any external instrument at all.  A computer internal sound card has high-quality sound for all instrument in an orchestra.
It could be done on PSR which cost $200-300.
I know for sure everyone makes it own chose. If you bought something that's the call. You can say it is the best since you made a responsive decision. But it is still subjective for everyone else.

Another approach is to go through specs and compare every feature one by one. It works for some characteristics, but It is not possible to compare different engines- SuperNatural vs AWM2 or FX-M or A.i.r. and vs acoustic 6'2'' or 9' Grand.

The bottom line for me, all brands make high-quality instruments.
There is a bias which puts one brand over another, for instance, I would not consider buying Alesis or Suzuki DP. But I know for a fact that Suzuki makes nice digital pianos with all GM instrument on board.

So much has happened to me since you mentioned Reverbnation back in September, and it turns out that I tried to register, and they sent me an email to confirm the registration.  For some reason, the email comes out in a weird format and I could never complete the registration.  I tried again today, even with a different browser, and the same thing happens.

I have my "channel" in YouTube, and perhaps Reverb works the same way.  Is there any benefit?  I have my own web page using YouTube to manage the videos, so I'm not sure it's worth it, specially with all the registration problems...

Probably not (I do not see any extra benefits)

I have subscribed for your channel on YouTube.

I had forgotten about the discussion we had before, went back to Reverbnation and listened to "Saturday"... Beautiful.

I have to see what Reverbnation has to offer.  Do you like it and is it worth it?

There is a limit of 8 MB size per file for free membership.

I had to reduce the bitrate for the piece to 270 to make it fit (3m 50secs)

You get some statistics about listeners, but not much.

If you decide to register there let me know I will be your fan :)

  8.  I do.

There is a score on the screen and I have beats in headphones as well.

Playing from memory is a normal routine. My warmup is about 30 minutes from memory.

I do not see any advantage of playing from memory over following notation .

All my scores in the electronic form. I am lazy to search for it every time. So have to memorize it :pianny:

    Merry Christmas!
