I'll try it and report back. I heard the static through the PA at a gig, and confirmed it was the organ at home through my own PA. It's probably a short in the switch.

I use my XW-P1 Organs two ways: With the board's leslie sim, and without the leslie sim - the effect turned off so I can use my Ventilator. The Drawbar Organ button has started producing static in the output jacks (monoL and R) noticeable in the PA. I use the board live. It's not the Vent or cables. I do not record with it. It's out of warranty, 3-4 years old. Used a lot on gigs and rehearsals. Has anyone else had this happen? Is there a cure?

Thanks for the reply, Scott. I'm buying one of these based on your recommendation. Processing the piano samples is the difference. For live use which, PX-5S, PX-560, PX-160, PX-360, CP-700, has the best sound?

Korg pedals work

I'd use either the PX5s or the PX560 live. I'm not needing the controller features of the PX5s, nor big hex features. The PX5s has no band in a box stuff, rhythm tracks, etc? How would the PX560 work live? I need pianos, and rhodes and wurli eps, I'm about to get a PX160, but would consider the 560.

So is the PX560 like the PX5S without all the fancy controls?

I played my PX150 through a small Soundcraft mixer to powered speakers. The piano patches sound fine though one instrument cable. The E-piano patches sound ok only when I have both output jacks with cables to the mixer. Is that normal? Am I missing something? David Loving

The PX150 arrived this morning. Excellent packing jobs by Casio and Sweetwater. It has 60 classical pieces recorded in memory and Casio included the sheet music for all 60. I'm nibbling at several pieces and this will be incentive to continue and capture the darn pieces for performance (loosely defined). Quite thoughtful of Casio - made me an even bigger fan. The sound and action are improved. Sounds impressive through my PA. The PX_50s sounds are greatly improved. One can modify the grand piano sound. It's got my favorite e pianos. Jazz organ is dry - no dsp - it'll work with the Vent if I don't use Native Instruments Tonewheel B3. In all it's exactly what I wanted - only the sounds I use and no frills. I had never before bought a dp lower on the food chain to NOT get the stuff I did not want. This will assign the extraneous sounds to the MacBook Pro and keep the piano more piano-like. Arrived just in time for a string of gigs - I'm off to read the manual. Donated the PX330 to our church choir.

I just ordered a PX 150 from Sweetwater. Looking forward to its arrival. I can use it in 4 or 5 gigs coming up soon. I bought the 150 because I wanted the updated sound and keybed without all the piano/jukebox stuff. I have a PX330 and have had to make a cover for the "band in a box" switches so that I don't inadvertently hit a button and start a strange drum solo in the middle of a tune. I'll use Native Instruments B3 and transistor organs, so the lack of usable organs (no leslie sim) on the PX 150 is on big deal. Besides I really like the NI B3. I am delighted to finally have a pretty simple instrument that plays and sounds even better than the PX330.

I decided to stop worrying about it. Maybe the bass should be loud. Thanks for the discussion, however.

How would the $119.00 plus shipping MIDI Solutions Pedal Controller work to control the left hand volume on a split? I have a topic started on the PX330 threads. Our bass player is out for a few weeks and I played left-hand- bass. The bass was too loud and I could not turn it down. That started my investigation.

KorgNano (1st generation) won't connect to a PX330.

Thanks so much, Scott. If it's a MIDI thing, kindly let me know how to do it. I already use a KorgNano, 1st generation to control instruments in Kontakt5 from a Macbook Pro. What kind of MIDI controller would I need. The Korg Nano is all usb and won't send messages to a PX (no in bound slot) , that I know about. Further - is this an issue with the PX350, PX150 or PX5s? I'm getting down to deciding what to purchase.

I used keyboard split for the first time tonight. Our bass player is nursing a broken leg. Left hand bass. I thought the bass was too loud and the right side of the split too soft. I RTFM and found nothing there. Is there a way to set the volumes on a PX330?

Anyone who has a PX330 and got a PX350, is there enough difference/improvement to justify moving up?

I tried it with the Venalator, but I was not overwhelmed with the result. The organ in the XW-P1 through a Vent is terrific. If you like to create sounds and just explore the instrument, the XW-P1 is for you. I'm going to get a simple PX150.

I decided to accept my PX330 as it is. I really like it. I hooked up a Neo Ventilator to it, and it's usable, just barely. It's easier to just use the one patch that has fast leslie programed into it. I'm going to just take the Macbook Pro and the KorgNano along and use the Native Instruments Tonewheel B3. Were I to buy another Privia, I'd get a PX350. I like the speakers. The $50.00 KorgNano does all the usb stuff I'd get the PX5 for. I enjoyed our discussion!

Thanks for the answer. I edited my question while you sent your information. I think the effect - slow - fast - or brake, probably is part of the patch, which as I was told, cannot be edited out on a PX330. There may not be a way to switch. The MIDI Manual is http://support.casio.com/en/manual/008/PX330_midi_EN.pdf and the reference is at page 44. It has the midi charts, too.Maybe one of the organ patches is on brake and I can use a Neo Ventilator on it. I could not figure out how to have the KorgNano plug into the board, so I gave up on that. It has a small plug into the Korg to a regular flat USB plug to insert into a computer's usb input slot.

How do you save it in a "registration memory?"

In reading the PX330 MIDI Implementation book, I notice DSP for Organs:" slow, fast, brake" . http://support.casio.com/en/manual/008/PX330_midi_EN.pdf , see page 44 - how do I program in DSPs of "slow, fast and brake" for organ patches and what switch can control the leslie DSP on the PX330 panel? It seems like if Casio goes to the trouble to mention 'fast, brake, and slow" in the MIDI manual, there ought to be a way to use it. I would like a leslie simulation for each organ patch. That's the one thing this board needs to make the organ patches usable. I like the organ sounds, I just need a Leslie switch. It may be that each organ patch has slow, fast, OR break programed in as an unchangeable effect. One would think a sim could be in operation -like on an XW-P1- where you could switch between slow and fast. Can this be done or is it impossible? I can't use a neo ventilator because the slow or fast speeds in the stock tones can't be taken out for a clean tone. If one of the tones is on "break" maybe the vent would work on that tone. I had cross posted this over on the keyboard forum. Anybody know?

So it will replace the Korg, and I can use the "learn midi" in NI to correspond to controls in the PX5s, one of which will act just like the knob on my KorgNano to send "program change" commands to the NI multi?

I like using Native Instruments' Kontakt 5. I use either a digital piano or a controller to play NI keyboard sounds as a standalone in live performance. Native Instruments lets one assemble a "multi", a group of sounds: Tonewheel B3, a piano, Wurli, Rhodes, Clav, etc. I use a Korg Nano to send commands for drawbars, percussion, Leslie, etc for NI's B3. Most of the Korg's duties involve the B3 program. and a knob sends volume commands for all the instruments in the multi. I can program a knob on the KorgNano through the NI scripts to change from instrument to instrument in the NI Multi; a program change. I'll have usb cables from the keyboard (PX330, or Alesis Q88) to the laptop, from the KorgNano controller to the laptop, from the laptop to a Presonus audio interface. I use a Belkin device to plug in 3 usb into two slots on the MacBook Pro laptop. The Alesis Q88 will send program changes to the NI Multi - changing instruments as needed. The PX330 will not send program changes, so I use the Korg, velcroed to the PX330. I'd like to buy a PX5s mainly for the improved sounds and action. I'd also like to be able to send program changes like the Korg Nano does. Will the PX5s do this?
