Ok, so I spent hours producing this short video - I hope you like it . All music is played on the CT-370. I sampled the drum sounds in order to have a steady drum beat, but apart from that, all is played and recorded manually. Jay 🎹

The 7200 is a bit of a culture shock after the 1300 I've been using, but I'm slowly working my way through the manual and trying to learn the functions as I go. I have a reference to a large number of drums but I haven't found any information on how to access them. Any help appreciated but try to keep it simple so that I can understand it. Thanks

Hi All, I'm struggling working out the best way to setup triggering the px-5s drums from an external drum sequencer within a stage setting and was looking for some advice please. I've recently bought a drumbrute for live performance with the PX-5S. The drum brute has a global midi channel setting which I've set to 1. It seems to be limited to either send note data or not and this is done via the app rather than on the unit, so not convenient for switching on and off. Therefore, when I'm using the drum brute's sounds, it will trigger whatever tone is in zone 1 on the PX-5S. Of course, if I have a synth in zone 1 (when I'm not using the px drums) it will trigger that, which I won't want. I can configure the output note values from the drum brute, and I tried setting them to values >88 and setting the px KEY RANGE HIGH in zone 1 (for sounds I don't want the drum brute to trigger) to C8. The idea being that I would create drum kits on the PX with note values >88 and put them in zone 1 when I needed them. However, it looks like KEY RANGE HIGH only affects the actual keyboard and not the incoming midi (I guess the clue is probably in the name , therefore the synth sound will still trigger the higher notes from the incoming midi. Is there an easy way around this? I could dedicate zone 1 for all of my stage settings to drums, and only have a kit present in a stage setting when I need them. Is that the way I need to go, or can I stop sounds in zone 1 from being triggered by incoming midi for certain stage settings? Hope that makes sense. Thanks

Just purchased a new CTK 4400 and it is anything but intuitive. Cannot get any of the rhythms to play at all. Just want it to provide drum accompaniment at times and cannot figure out how to get it to do anything that simple.

Thought I'd share my basic drum beats for using in your step sequencer. These cover MOST rock/pop/country songs. Load them in your User files for the SSEQ. To use in a song, either load them in your Performance under Sequencers...Step Seq, or you can just select the Step Sequencer after you have your performance loaded and scroll to the User files... be sure to set your tempo just before using because that info is not saved. Oh... K=Kick, S=Snare C=Cymbal, R=Rim. -

A fairly quick query here to anyone who records the drums from an XW (P1 and G1) onto a multi-track recorder/ DAW. I'm am slowly working on and getting ready to record some of my compositions. As I am playing every part (or programming every part), multi-tracking is a godsend. I've done some rough demos by recording the XW step sequencer drums (looping the 16 steps) directly to my DAW (using the stereo 1/4" out leads), and then manually playing additional melodies/ parts as part of the multi-track process. However, one thing I would like to do, as I did when I recorded with bands in the past, is to record the drums to individual tracks (i.e. bass drum - track 1, snare - track 2, high hat - track 3 etc.) Plus, I'm not sure whether to program my DAW (Cubase) to trigger the drums via MIDI, or program the XW's internal step sequencers and have them clocked by the DAW. Having each drum sound on an individual track will give greater control when mixing, though as the XW only has a stereo audio out it isn't possible to have individual outs per drum as per some of the more powerful drum machines. Plus my DAW only as 2 x inputs anyway! Therefore I am assuming I should record the drums one at a time when recording a programmed pattern? A couple of the demos that I've done, the XW drums sound surprisingly good when just recorded onto a stereo track. However, I'm concerned that if I start building the tracks up more I will need more flexibility with panning individual drums sounds, changing individual volume levels and adding compression/ effects etc. later on. Then again, bands like the John Foxx era Ultravox used the Roland TR77 on their track "Hiroshima Mon Amour" to great effect, and that only had a single line out for the whole drum machine. How do other XW users program and record their XW drum tracks? Do you use the step sequencers on the XW's, or do you use your DAW to trigger the drum sounds of the XW's? And do you just record all the drums in one go as a stereo track, or do you record each drum to its own track on the recorder/ DAW? Any advice would be gratefully received.

Hey guys I have a question. Does the Casio Privia pro px5s have any way to create and play drum loops? I am asking this because our band does not have a drummer and i would like to get a keyboard that could play drum loops for some of the songs we do. Any help on the matter would be greatly appreciated.

File Name: Synthetic Drums (PX-5S) File Submitter: Mike Martin File Submitted: 19 Aug 2013 File Category: PX-5S Tones In the blog entry last week I explained how drum sounds in the PX-5S could be edited to the extreme. Pitch envelopes and resonant filters are available for each drum instrument across the keyboard. Here is a new drum kit that takes advantage of these techniques. Watch your speaker levels, there are some DEEP drums here. The story here: http://priviapro.wordpress.com/2013/08/15/px-5s-drum-editing/ Click here to download this file
