  1. I entered a competition by Metapop in conjunction with Cats on Synthesizers in Space, that required a "Cat themed" composition with a cat sound(s) used predominantly through the song. You can hear my song at the link below! Most of the sounds and main voice cat samples are from my Casio XW-G1. The song was originally composed on the G1 using its step sequencer and arpeggiator features, and then transferred into my DAW where I then arranged and edited the song. https://metapop.com/clark-denham/tracks/casio-b-meowsic-cat-aclysm-mix/97980 EQUIPMENT: B. Meowsic Cat Keyboard (modified with a line out) Casio XW-G1 synth/ sampler/ step sequencer DAW: Acoustica Mixcraft Pro 8 Audacity was used to trim, edit, normalise and stretch samples. Paulstretch effect used within Audacity for stretching samples. Main melody “Meow” voice: To keep a cat theme going, I chose to use a B. Meowsic toy cat keyboard for the main melody “meow” sound. This was sampled into the XW-G1, and played live by hand, I mean paw, to give a more human, er, I mean feline feel! Ethereal “Space Kitten” pad sound: Same B. Meowsic “Meow” sample as used for the main voice. This was imported into Audacity, stretched with Paulstretch, then transferred into the XW-G1 and played by paw. Bass line: Generated by the Casio XW-G1 arpeggiator, with the pattern data then exported via MIDI and recorded in the DAW. DAW then played the MIDI bass line back into the XW-G1, and the XW patch (P051 – “Synth Bass 1”) audio was recorded. Drums: Casio XW-G1, factory kit (P406 “Synth Set 1”). Original beat programmed on the XW’s step sequencer, then transferred, built upon and edited within the DAW. This was then fed back into the XW via MIDI and the XW’s “Synth Set 1” drum audio was recorded. Samples: Manually placed within the DAW to give an interplay between cats and dogs.
  2. How do you select Stage Settings from MIDI (Another keyboard or iPad Remote Control)?Bank 112, followed by a program change 0-99 will select the Stage SettingsWhen can I download the Mac/PC editor?Tentatively on or around April 19thI've tried all the velocity curves the piano is either too loud or too soft for my needsThe pianos are set by default for a very wide dynamic range (as are all Privia models). You can reduce the dynamic range yourself. Press the EDIT button, select TONE. Go to the AMP page. Find velocity and reduce it from a value of +64 to around 40. You'll have to scroll back up to the stop of the AMP page and reduce the overall volume to compensate. We will be posting variations on the piano for download later in April. What is the warranty on the PX-5SIn the US it is 1 year plus an additional 2 years when you register your purchase online. http://www.onlineregister.com/casio/registration/?category=Keyboards Can the MIDI Solutions Pedal Controller be used on the PX-5S for expression or sustainMany people have expressed interest in using this device with the PX-5S to use either as an expression pedal or to use with a continuous damper pedal such as the Roland DP-10. The MIDI Solutions product only transmits on 1 MIDI channel. This means that regardless of how you're using (expression or sustain) it can only control 1 zone of the PX-5S at a time. While we are investigating ways to provide better integration with devices such as this, this does NOT mean that anything is planned or guaranteed. If there is ever an official announcement of a firmware update you'll here it from me, here on this forum I've downloaded sounds from this forum and put them on the USB drive, but I can not load them. The files need to be placed in the MUSICDAT folder on the USB drive for the PX-5S to see them.
  3. This guy is one of the biggest Casio keyboard collectors out there, he made a whole series about the MZ-2000 including talking about the construction! This was really awesome, i happen to know Kris from way back, around the time his first YouTube video's got online (KN-2000 review, stuff like that) And the way he treast arrangers is really cool! He knows how to get them to the limit! He also made a Michael Jackson style on the Casio WK-7600 and some wave-sequenceing kinda stuff! I don't have the timestamps, but this guy knows how to create styles!!! So just watch the complete video This guy really knows how to get keyboards sound like the brands intended them to sound, you know what i mean? The way those styles sound are like there's a live band playing, who needs a $5000 Genos when an $400 Casio can sound almost as good in the right hands?! (The only thing i dislike about his playing is the constant glissando's and scales he tends to do, but other than that he's really in a league of his own, not even joking, he's a beast!) He recently stopped doing all the Casio stuff and now is a Williams sponsored (or so he says he is) Musician and seems to pick up onKorg more, but i was hoping that he'd get in touch with the PX-5s for some reason! How many people on the forum know him/talk to him/are subscribed to his channel?
  4. Can anyone recommend a great synth to go in the backgroundto download from here. I play lots of new age contemporary christian and looking for some good sounds. Any help is appreciated Casio PX 560m
  5. Hello everybody, Here is a nice demonstration video of the CT-X700. IMHO it shows that the CT-X700/800 are much more than just beginner keyboards. I am quite proud because this video was made at my request. Here it is: Regards.
  6. Hello, This is my first post. I know nothing about music, but want to learn to play keyboards for pastimes. I did some research on the web, and this has led me to narrow down my choice to Casio keyboards. My preference in decreasing order(according to the products available in my country): 1) CTK-7300IN (sliders on left side) 2) WK-240K7 (76 keys) 3) CT-X870IN/ CT-X8000IN (new AiX sound engine) Questions: 1) Since where I live, music and keyboards are a very rare hobby, I am not getting a used one, and the equivalent of 280 USD is the most I can spend, are the choices of keyboards correct? (7300 cost my quivalent of 280 USD, that's 3/5 of a month's salary) 2) I want one good keyboard, so that after I learn my way around music, I can still use the keyboard for making better music, are the afore-mentioned choices good? 3) Someone on a forum claimed that CTK-7300 come close to workstation capabilities, so does that mean I can actually synthesize music with its Drawbar Sliders? 4) In my learning journey, will 61 keys hinder me, so that I can consider the WK240 76 key version? 5) What kind of DSP do these Casios have? And do I need a hardware synth module so that I can create advanced effects? (Like: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GV2FIWhH-Z8) 6) Does AHL vs AIX matter for me? People already claim Yamahas have more depth of sound than Casios, and I don't want a Yamaha. (My choice: 7) Can I make guitar pedals FX work with my Casio? Do I need guitar pedals for FX like reverb or delay? 😎 Do I need a monitor speaker? Will a plain CD Player's speaker work? Are the Keyboard's onboard speakers good enough or poor? 9) Since these have USB MIDI, can I connect them directly to a speaker? 10) Do I need a DAW? What are some low cost/ free DAWs? Is a soft-synth far better than any hardware synth, since they use computer CPUs?

  8. I've done an re-issue totally for the PX5S this time a song about the adventures in a far away galaxy where there is a world with surrounded by planets that world is as big as the moon Titan. But what is Ghorak-V really. Everything is done in song mode except the pad which I've used arpeggio on so its a full phrase / arpeggio song :D. I've got to learn more about song mode and programming special voices to use on it cause like XW-G1 once you get the hang of it, It turns into a sonic creative addiction XD. Used two drum tracks on this the mix isn't up to par the song isn't complete or done well but i've learned song mode for a change.
  9. I was looking to buy a 2nd XW-G1 and no one has them available. Has the XW-G1 been discontinued or is there a delay in production or what's going on? A new product announcement at NAMM?
  10. I recently acquired a CZ101 one but this one seems to make a clicking noise when it receives MIDI data on other channels. For example, CZ set to channel 1, notes being played on channel 16 make a clicking noise corresponding to their durations, so its not random noise. If I turn them off in the MIDI program, those other channel clicks disappear, but the receiving channel still plays the clicks from its midi on messages. Playing the same patches via the keyboard there is no such raspy clicking noises. I was hoping somebody may have encountered this problem before and new how to fix it. thanks
  11. Hey! I have just started making hip hop beats, rap beats and house music. I am in the really early stages of learning how to produce my own tracks, so ANY advice would be great and is encouraged. As long as its an honest opinion and constructive criticism I am open to hear it! TAKE A PEAK @ MY SOUNDCLOUD: https://soundcloud.com/jimmercx2 Bassy Hip Hop.mp3
  12. Hello Casio Forums, I have been playing my XW-G1 live with a cover band for the last three years. I play half our sets on the synth and half on guitar. Does anyone use a personal mixer to tweak sound live? What set up do you use live to get a great stereo BEST QUALITY Sound? I have noticed live that I am constantly battling different performances on volume, depending on tones, i.e. brass, bass, piano, analog sounds. Is there a way I can "set it and forget it?" My brass sounds all sound full of treble with little mid range or bass. I bought my board used off ebay. Sometimes I think there may be an issue with oscillators or something internally that is giving me a different quality than what I hear on Youtube from you professionals. I am very picky about sound and want to sound the best possible. Willing to spend some money to do so and would like to keep using my XW-G1 live. Thanks for advice! Geoff the PowerTrader
  13. My apologies for such a rudimentary question, but I am looking to pick up a used Casio keyboard that is a) touch sensitive for piano, and b) has a wide variety of organ tones. I'm trying to stay under $200 for a used keyboard, but I could go higher. My question is which Casio keyboard(s) is best for my purposes? I've seen many WK-200s out there, and it seems like a good one for me, but I'm not sure how it compares to other models given my criteria. I don't want an instrument for beginners, but also don't want to spend a ton at this time. Thanks.
  14. Well, we know that Casio has shown us a new range of products. The CT-X line of keyboards consisting of the CT-X700/800/3000/5000 The cheapest will cost around 179 dollars if i'm correct, and that will feature 48 notes of polyphony, a 12 watt speaker system, +- 200 styles and +- 600 sounds. The most expensive one will cost about 400 dollars, which is pretty darn cheap if you ask me. 64 notes of polyphony. 30 watt speaker system. +- 240 styles and +- 800 sounds, and 4! Variations per style. The best part?! They've introduced a new sound engine called the AiX, and if you listen to the CT-X700 you'll get blown away! It has better soundquality than the PSR-E series (That start at 150 dollars i believe) And better polyphony. My imagination is that (we haven't heard it yet unfortunately) The CT-X5000 will sound even BETTER! And yes, the guitars will now have velocity switched noises like slides and things like harmonics, that's impressive. There are 3 things that i don't like about this (Or maybe my expectations were to high because of the MZ-X range) - No touchscreen (The UI on the MZ-X looks fantastic) - No matter how hard Casio tries they just can't hold a candle to the Sweet! Voices on the Yamaha's (And that's 22 year old technology) - Still that weird box-styled keybed, how hard can it be to go back to proper style keybeds that don't rattle or clang? I'm hoping that this topic will go to a proper spot (If this isn't the correct one) And that we can have nice discussions about the machines, and i'm sure we will! Because let's be honest, Casio have really REALLY outdone themselves this time in a budget range of keyboards!
  15. Orchestral Piece done entirely on the CASIO WK-1350. When Mike Martin listened to this, he could hardly believe that the WK-1350 was capable of such a thing! How many of YOU , in "Casio-Land" also like to do "orchestral" on YOUR Casio Keyboard of choice? Let us HEAR you!

  19. Hello, How are you? I share with you some samples created with the CASIO XW-G1 after a long period of inactivity in this forum. The use of the XW-G1 is different from everything known and that makes it special. The XW-G1 really is a beast disguised as a foolish sheep. It offers an infinity of wonderful things. It is a jewel in the world of synthesizers and electronic music. Greetings and have a good day. Thank you. 80 A ring tone lo-fi Future PUM BUM yeeeeaa The banjo of the beast The cheerful machine The Walker The wandering whistle Tranquility
  20. I own a digital keyboard of CASIO. It is having 17 sets of percussion instruments. Now the problem is when I create a midi drum pattern, it is played by the first set, i.e. , Standard Set 1(It has all sounds of GM). But if I have to play it according to another set ( Ethnic set or Indian set) , is it possible? I believe there is some roll of bank set , is there?
  21. Hi I just wondering if a device is available that connects to midi out that can display the transpose settings for my CDP130 when I change them on the keyboard. I know that this feature is usually on higher priced models. I have considered connecting my Korg midi controller to midi in to control it as this has an led display that shows the transpose setting. Any advice would be welcome. Thanks Stuart
  22. So, the Yamaha Tyros is sold, and it's now time for something else to play on until i have enough money for the Yamaha Genos. Now, in Holland they sell the MZ-X500 for roughly 700 euro's BUT! In Germany i can get the MZ-X300 for about 400 euro's LESS. So that is a lot of money.. So i'm wondering, what exactly are the differences between the MZ-X300 and 500? 200 less tones (Because of the missing Hex Layer feature?) 128MB sample ram instead of 256MB ? 4 non-velocity sensetive pads instead of 16 velocity sensetive pads Less rythms (But you can probably load the X-500 rythms in there anyways..) Different colour. Anything else i'm missing here? I mean, 300 bucks for one of the best casio's out there (The other one being the X500) Is a steal.
  23. Not many synthesizers have a typical character to their sound, Yamaha's sounds too polished, Korg is too live, Roland is a very punchy but forgettable sound, but Casio's have a certain character, they never sound too live or too polished, but they do cut through a mix and have a certain, something that really adds up for that Casio sound.. You know what i mean? The Casio piano sounds from the 90s were terrible, the CTK-731 had a pretty bad plastic piano sound compared to the Yamaha's from that time period (PSR-7000/8000/9000 even had the LIVE! Grand Piano) BUT! I still enjoyed that piano sound more than i did the newer sounds with longer samples and stuff.. Drumwise, it's the same deal. Sure, my Tyros has fantastic sounding drums, but they don't stand up in a mix, they lack a certain punch, whils't even the WK-1800 drums i had (Especially the Power kit) Had incredible punch, the sound in terms of realism was meh (Although i love the toms!) But in terms of dynamics the Tyros drums didn't stand a chance. And even the toy keyboards sound really puncy and thick and dare i say? Fresh, compared to the Yamaha toy keyboards from the same time period.. The Casio SA range had a (i think) Very impressive piano sound, and a beautiful (Yes, i really love that sound) Church organ, and compared to the Yamaha's it was like night and day. What is it exactly that typical Casio character? Is it in the way they sample their sounds? (And please, can someone explain, HOW does the sampling of sounds for a keyboard work?) Because what i also hear a lot when i compare for example the Sweet! Tenor Sax from my Tyros to the BreathyTSax in the WK-3000 is that, the Yamaha sound is much nicer to the ear, better looppoints, and it's a more overall polished sound, but the Casio sound is more "In your face" And sounds really much more realistic despite the lack of the player's vibrato, how does that work? I think that this makes an interesting topic..
