- T -
Casio CTK/WK Tone files are nothing more than a set of wave shaping parameters. They are completely separate from the actual wave samples that generate the sounds. The wave samples are stored in read only memory, and are not portable between devices. CTK/WK models are divided into "lines". The CTK-691/WK-3000/WK-3500 are from one model line. More recently, is the CTK-900/WK-3200/WK-3700, followed by the WK-3300/WK-3800/WK-8000/PX-410/PX-575, which is the most recent model line prior to the current CTK/WK-6XXX/7XXX model line. User files (Tones, Rhythms, etc) from one particular model in a line will normally work with other models, that also accept User files, in the same line, but there are enough differences in parameters, wave samples, sound engines, DSP engines, Rhythm engines, etc. to prevent User files from models in one line to work in models of a different line. In your case, you are asking about the WK-3800 and WK-3500, which are from different lines, so what you are asking about is very doubtful. Of course, you can always try. All of these older files have a ".ckf" file extension, but the keyboard will normally not even recognize files from other model lines as being loadable. As an example of this, try visiting the old Casio-Europe (archive) site, where expansion files for the three older model lines, I mention above, are still offered for download. You will see four separate sets of downloads, one for each of the above model lines, plus the old CTK-671, which is in a line all to itself. If porting across model lines were possible, Casio would not have bothered to create four separate sets of files and four separate sets of downloads: http://music.casio.com/e/ To my knowledge, there have never been any type of conversion programs for these files.
