Casio WK3200 makes static and strange noise on key press

This issue is solved and I just wanted to make a permanent record of it. Literally one minute my WK3200 was working fine while practicing a song. About an hour later no matter what key I touched, either loud static was produced or strange noise as though the modulator wheel was being used.

 

I removed the silver access panels on the underside of the keyboard. Then removed all screws from the 2 long, narrow circuit boards which are directly under the keys. I removed them from the seating tabs, flipped them over and wiped them down with electronic spray cleaner. A sizable amount of black soot was removed. I reassembled in reverse order and the keyboard worked like new. Enjoy
