Footpedal Automated Wah?

Okay, so the XW has an auto-wah effect and you can turn off the LFO in favor of manual control of the bandpass filter's "reference" frequency (which for a bandpass is a center frequency but you could generically also call it a cut-off) using slider #8 (DSP Parameter A). You could assign a knob in a performance to control that effect parameter using a CC# (17, I believe) and then record a phrase that sweeps the cutoff back and forth in whatever manner you like. Then by making that phrase active it will repeat and retrigger every time you hit a key as you play on the keyboard (assuming last note triggering). That could function as a paraphonic form of filter sweep as discussed in another thread. Or you could program the phrase to be played back when you press a momentary on/off footpedal.

But can the XW somehow simulate a wah pedal using the footpedal in the way that the PX-5S can? I don't have a PX-5S so I am guessing that pressing the footpedal triggers an envelope that simply rises over some adjustable length of time to a maximum. I am further guessing that releasing the pedal triggers the envelope to fall to its minimum in a similar amount of time. Together this would simulate rocking your foot back and forth on a real wah pedal. Please let me know if I am mistaken about how that works on the PX-5S.

Does anyone have any ideas how this might be accomplished on the XW? Maybe it's just not possible since you can't trigger anything when you release the XW's footpedal. You can only turn things on when you step on it and turn the same things off when you release it.

With a MIDI foot pedal you could, but guess that's not what you were asking....
