Galileo organ (on ipad) controller View File This is my Stage setting for PX-5S, designed to control the Galileo organ app. I have mapped it in the following way, so that the PX will control the following things in Galileo: Slider 1: Upper drawbar 16' Slider 2: Upper drawbar 51/3' Slider 3: Upper drawbar 8' Slider 4: Upper drawbar 4' Slider 5: Upper drawbar 22/3' Slider 6: Upper drawbar 2' Knob 1: Upper drawbar 13/5' Knob 2: Upper drawbar 11/3' Knob 3: Upper drawbar 1' Knob 4: Vibrato on/off Pitch bend wheel: Pitch bend Mod wheel: master volume. I have set this for a range from 50 - 100 (I anticipate using it at about 50 but it is early days yet. Be sure to adjust it if necessary to how you want it.) Pedal 1: Rotary fast/slow Pedal; 2: Rotary brake This is my first venture into the realm of midi, and also my first attempt to properly map organ controls. Please let me know if I need to make any changes - especially if I have left out something important. I hope to end up with the definitive Galileo controller at some point......... PX-560 Organ Leslie/Rotary effect assign to Modulation wheel???

Maybe I'm missing something, but I can not find how to assign the Rotary effect for Organ playing to the Modulation wheel. Going from Off to On, etc. For that matter, I can't find any of the "Editable DSP Parameters" on pages 34-35 of the manual like the "Drive Rotary," etc.... I'm getting concerned... anybody know how to do this? Either the Modulation wheel, or maybe a footswitch... but I'd prefer the Mod wheel so I can use an expression pedal with the organ. Thanks in advance for your help. -
Hi all, I have just ordered an iPad to use with Casio px5 to solve 2 big (for me) problems with casio: the monophonic mode with synth and the weak organ sound engine. for organ I think I'll use App Galileo, or maybe the hammond in Garageband, I'll have to try. For synth I want to know what app do you use for reliable, solid use in LIVE gigs (not amateur use at home). It's fundamental that the synth have mono/legato option, poly mode, and that I can change preset throught midi program change from casio and that it can work on only one midi channel. I already bought animoog with black friday sales, thinking that changing preset throught program change was a common feature in all app synth, but I was wrong..it doesn't do it (for me, unbelieveble) I want to know some app synth with this features and that doesn't get no issues with nothing. I'm looking to sunrizer and magellan (I prefer the second for sound), but I want to know if someone of you use them in live use and if there is any problems. or any other app suggestions? I want to link the mini jack out of iPAd to mini jack in of casio, is there any problem? I read that the output of iPad is a bit low, can I balance its audio with casio audio with line in Gain, or there is too much difference and have to further boost the ipad signal? Product suggestion for Casio developers (a retro keyboard)

Good nights. I would like to make a suggestion for Casio product developers, and it's to create a basic keyboard aimed to the kind of people who just wants to play and doesn't need a multi track recorder or rythms at all. That keyboard should be centered on the quality of sounds without needing to have 200 sounds, I mean that with two dozens or so you could do really well (if they're well choosen), and not having features as the rythms or multi track recorder would probably make it cheaper to build. If it were designed retro style, maybe even with real wood (or at least a looking like wood finish) with powerful integrated speakers (20>X>10 W RMS) and with a 5 octaves manual with two sets of drawbars, one like the Hammond B3 from the current CTK7200 series and the other a newly developed one based on (or sampled from) the legendary Vox Continental. Put this together and include some of the sounds of the CTK series like the piano, harpsichord, a couple more organs (a Farfisa, one sounding like Deep Purple's Wring that neck organ, one for church, one for gospel...), strings, brass and a synth and you'll have a winner (you could even reverse the black and white keys colour as in the original Continental, to have a damm sexy winner): Have you, Casio marketers, noticed that actually there's no under 1000 € keyboard offering Vox Continental sounds? That's the keyboard used by The Doors, The Animals, Iron Butterfly, The Monkees and several other classic bands from the sixties and seventies. Korg (the owners of Vox) have their PA50SD which costs around 700 € in Spain and has one Vox Continental sound (called Vox Legend) and that's just ONE sound. For true Continental sounds with the 4 original Vox drawbars you gotta go to Nord and spend a minimum of 1600 €! With the Hammond drawbars you can cover Booker T & the MGs, Jimmy Smith, Procol Harum's Whiter shade of pale, or Gainsbourg's Je t'aime among many other classics (by the way I wonder why there's no preset for that so sought after sounds on the CTK7200 when it could be so easy to have those preconfigured), but you're missing a lot. If Casio could do the same they did for the Hammond like drawbar organ on the CTK7200 for the Vox Continental they will kick Yamaha, Roland and several others out of the under 1000 € market and make history on business industry, Casio will monopolize that classic sixties sounds and be the only one option to choose when looking after it. Just an idea. -
hi, good people! look ,I' m love with vintage keys sound, alright? i guess thats not a problem, can i go on?... ok how good are xwp1 vox continental and rhodes/ep ? can a good soul show them on youtube? please? I own a ctk7000 (good hamonds and ok ep ) perhaps i would buy a xw p1 if them vox and rhodes are good.... Thanks and keep the vibes hight!!!

Stage Setting tha uses all 4 Zones: Zone 1 - Crunch EP2 (Hex Layer) - downloaded from the Casio Music Forum Zone 2 - Too Close (Hex Layer) - downloaded from the Casio Music Forum Zone 3 - Brass Section - preset from the String/Brass section Zone 4 - Click Organ - preset from the Organ section Controller assignements: Pedal 1 - Sustain (sustains all zones except the Zone 3 Brass sound) Pedal 2 - Zone On/Off (with this pedal you turn the Brass sound on/off) Mod.Wheel - Delay intensity (from 0-127) Slider 1 - Distortion level for the Electric Piano Slider 2 - Amp.simulation Slider 3 - Dist.Low / Dist.High Slider 4 - Chorus Slider 5 - Volume for Zone 2 (Pad sound) Slider 6 - Volume for Zone 4 (Organ Sound) Here is the link of the video on which i'm using this stage setting with the backing track wave file played drectlly from the PX5S thumb drive.The Wave file is the original backing track from my album with live Drums/Bass/Guitar/Trumpet minus the keyboards which I'm playing live on the PX5S! I'm playing a solo synth lead part on the Casio XW-P1 but i don't remember what was the sound name that i used on the video,maybe Mike will know. I re-edited one of the organ sounds uploaded by a fellow member and easily came up with this killer organ that is reminiscent of something you might use forDeep Purple/MachineHead. Mess around with the DSP rotary effect by putting the BRAKE on and adding Vibrato/Chorus C1 for further effect... -

This is a 'real church' organ stagesetting. The goal was to create a detailed church organ sound, with not only the full power of the organ, but also the subtleties from blending different stops or retracting them. To get this to work you need to download the stagesetting 'CHURCHORG' I have added the separate hex layers also, eventhough they aren't necessary in order to function. The layers act as different organ stops. You can see the organ stops as different sounds which can be added to each other. Add layers (stops) by pulling down the sliders! The stops in this stagesetting: S1 -- 16' principal S2 -- 8' Flute S3 -- 4' principal -- the above first 3 stops are making a base layer S4 -- 3' mixture S5 -- 3' nazard S6 -- 8' trumpet -- these 3 above give a different blend to the mix K4 -- 8' voix céleste (slightly detuned sound, to create a wavering human voice effect). -- I consider the above stop a solo register, not to be used with all the rest together, which is why it's on knob4. However you can blend the voix céleste nice with the flute or the principals. K1 -- controls the amount of reverb. If you play in a church you wouldn't need reverb (but then again you'd have a real church organ, no?) The attached MP3 is a sample of the tune that inspired me to do this song. I didn't feel comfortable putting it in the "Song Ready" list, since the tune is fairly obscure. I was listening to Tony Monaco - Celebration when this track came on. Due to its lower tempo and cool sound, I wanted to try to duplicate it. This is my take on it, the organ sound is all from this stage setting on the PX-5S (explained below) and the backing track is from my android smartphone running IRealb. This setting simulates a two-manual organ, with the split point being at middle-C. Here are the settings for each manual: Lower - Registration 666000000 (sort of), rotary on (permanently) Upper - Registration 008666000 (sort of), percussion 3rd harmonic, rotary can be turned on and off The tweaky bits: Mod wheel - overall volume S1 - Overdrive S2 - Percussion decay speed S3 - Percussion volume S4 - Lower manual volume S5 - Upper manual volume S6 - Reverb K1 - Rotary Slow rate (not used, since I didn't include a way to switch between slow and fast) K2 - Rotary Fast rate K3 - Chorus/vibrato K4 - Wet/Dry mix Pedal 1 - Percussion on/off Pedal 2 - Upper manual rotary on/off (This seems to take two taps the first time you use it in this stage setting, thereafter it functions normally. I haven't figured that one out yet.) It should operate correctly without uploading the associated arpeggio needed to make the percussion envelope work properly. That still kinda weirds me out, but it seems to work. -

As you know our keyboards are USB Midi Compliant, that means you can connect them to Midi devices in some case directly tuo USB, otherwise using, for example, the Kenton Midi USB Host http://www.kentonuk.com/products/items/utilities/usb-host.shtml Those Midi app let you to controle via USB OTG, Opus#1 1843 french two manuals church organ based on high-quality recordings http://www.refined-apps.com/opus-1/ be careful the app works only 4 1/2 octaves as the real organ and Pitea a 1989 german three manual church organ always based on high-quality recordings http://www.refined-apps.com/pitea/ again be careful the app works only 5 octaves. I'have those two apps, and I'm very satisfied, I used them even with my old Midi keyboard connected with a Roland USB/Midi compliant and even non Midi compliant, I suggest the first one. In any case read carefully the Refined Apps suggestions. You can also use two keyboards controlling upper an lower manual with a Midi merger like the Kenton one http://www.kentonuk.com/products/items/utilities/m-merge4.shtml. Of course an organ upload section can't be complete without A Whiter Shade of Pale. The MP3 starts at the lead-in to the chorus where the glissando kicks in with the C3 chorus setting. Yes, I know that the background is kind of cheesy in the MP3, but I usually play with a group, so I wasn't too concerned with sequencing a better backup. Here are the files this stage setting expects: - The drum set (JasonSet1) in user area 20. This is optional, and originally I put the lower keyboard manual here instead. - The phrase OrganPercuss in user area 910. This, too, is optional. It just lends to the Hammond sound by hitting the 2nd harmonic percussion only at the beginning of a legato phrase. Make sure to turn LOOP: On and write it back into slot 910. The load defaults to LOOP: Off, for some reason. - The WhiterShade.ZPH for the drum track phrase in user area 911. Other notes: - The sliders 1-3 control relative volumes of the drum set, organ, and bass, respectively. - Slider 6 controls reverb. - Footswitch 1 turns the C3 rotary speaker option on (for the chorus). - Footswitch 2 turns the drum phrase on. - Knobs 1-4 control the equalizer. It's a shame that you can't string DSPs together, because I really like the sound of the organ through the MStack amp simulator. It might be possible to replace the C3 rotary chorus with the native PX-5S chorus and still get a good sound while routing through the Distort/Amp simulator. That's left as an exercise to the user. I should also mention that I got the information for the organ registrations and other settings from http://www.procolharum.com/awsop_reg-cerdes.htm -

Fiddling with the presets and watching the video in the notes of the 9 Drawbar Organ sound, I put together this keyboard split resembling the Squabble style registrations that Tony Monaco uses toward the end of the video. The left side of the keyboard (up to Bb5) represents the lower manual with registration 848000000 tuned up two octaves. The right side of the keyboard represents the upper manual with registration 800008888 and tuned down one octave. This allows a quite a bit of pitch overlap without going too high or too low. The mod wheel controls the leslie speed, K2 controls the percussion volume, K3 controls the Vibrato/Chorus, and K4 controls the reverb. As in the 9 Drawbar Organ stage setting, Pedal1 toggles the 2nd-percussion-slow/3rd-percussion-fast, and Pedal2 turns percussion on and off. I wish I could upload a sample of a tune played in this style, but I'm just learning and couldn't do it justice. Maybe a more experienced player could make a sample tune for it, should it end up being useful for someone. Have fun! Jason -

I'm just getting into the Hammond B-3 sound and I was really impressed with the 9 Layer Organ that Jimmyjames posted back in July. I started looking into the way the drawbars worked and found some pretty good pages on the net that have some of the more popular registrations. Unfortunately, you need 9 drawbars to do that and the way they were tied together in the 9 Layer Organ didn't allow you to adjust all of them independently. So, I wanted to build something that would allow me to experiment. This really won't be a performance Stage Setting as much as a "play around with" Stage Setting that you can then solidify into different presets as you find them. I really think that the key to pulling off a B-3 sound will be in presets because there aren't 30-some-odd drawbars on the PX-5S, for good reason! Here are some of the key notes you'll need to be aware of for this stage setting: Drawbars: There are nine "drawbars". On the Hammond, they are organized this way: 16' 5 1/3' 8' 4' 2 2/3' 2' 1 3/5' 1 1/3' and 1'. They are on the PX-5S as follows, respectively: ModWheel, S1, S2, S3, S4, S5, S6, K1, K2. Rotary effect: I like being able to experiment with these effects, so I moved them to K3. K4: This controls the volume of the percussion. More on that below. Pedal 1: This switches between 2nd percussion/slow decay and 3rd percussion/fast decay. I didn't think the 3rd harmonic sounded very nice when it suspended for too long, but you can adjust that as you like by editing the Stage Setting parameters. Pedal 2: This turns the percussion on and off. Percussion: I don't have a Hammond B-3 to sit next to, but I do have the internet! I found a good YouTube video in which some of the different sounds and registrations were isolated: . With the laptop plugged into the audio in port of the PX-5S (good thinking, Casio!) I played this video through the same speaker as the keyboard. True to some of the other articles I read, the percussion sounded quite marimba-like, so that's on the percussion channel (zone 3).The way the original organs were built, percussion only happened for the first note struck in a legato passage, i.e. as long as any keys were held down, no more percussion sounded. To duplicate this effect, I created a phrase that plays one single note, and then dummy-fill (with expression controller values) to extend the phrase for awhile. Percussion will repeat if you hold down a note long enough, but at a tempo of 20, it hadn't repeated after 2 minutes of sounding a note. I think that'll do. If you want to bypass this effect and have percussion strike every note, regardless of other keys held down, simply turn off the arpeggio button. You will also need the OrganPercuss phrase file in slot 910 for this feature to work. -

UPDATED: Knob4 is now a brightness / filter control, so you can restore some life back into this good 'ol organ. A variation on the other one...this one is has some age to it.
