leeskeys
Any thoughts about why the data editor would not be recognizing the PX-5? the keyboard is connected to the computer via USB and the computer recognizes it. When I turned the data editor on, it says "not connected". I I do have the PX-5 connected to another keyboard via a midi cable, but I can't see why this would affect the data editor recognizing the Px-5. leeskeys
I'm also not sure why my posting was posted twice. How do I delete one of them?
Joe Muscara
I fixed the double post for you (deleted it). have you tried disconnecting the other keyboard anyway? No, it shouldn't affect it, but you know how these things can be. It's always good to simplify and isolate any issue.
Brad Saucier
Could be the usb cable? Another midi application open other than the data editor?
leeskeys
haven't had a chance to check it out further. I'll post when I have an update
leeskeys
Cable is fine. Computer recognizes device (casio USB-Midi), says "device is working properly". When I open Digital Editor, I get the "Disconnected" in the title bar of the Data Editor Window. If I click the "refresh" icon, I get a Windows pop-up: "communication error". I've tried this on two different computers. Same results. I have the Px-5 connected to another keyboard via midi. I've disconnected the midi cable. Tried it both ways- still get the "disconnected message". I'm stumped. Any ideas?
Joe Muscara
I'm glad you've checked that all out, but now I'm stumped too.
Solution Choppin Posted May 21, 2014 Solution Share Posted May 21, 2014 leeskeys, Make sure the USB out under Sys Settings > Midi is set to keyboard and also make sure it is on. Make sure you are not in an Edit mode or parameter change mode on the keyboard before starting the Data editor. If none of this makes any difference, what computer and what operating system are you using? What USB port are you using 2.0, 3.0? While connected in the exact same way, can you communicate to any other midi programs on the computer? Do you have a midi program running that is using the casio port (a vst program or something) at the same time you are trying to run the editor? If you can connect and use other midi programs with the Px-5s while connected to the exact same port, then try uninstalling and reinstalling the editor. Brallan
I had the exact same problem.... quickly solved by plugging the USB cable into a different computer USB input. Try it... USB can be flakey.
leeskeys
Choppin, thanks! I must have changed some of the midi settings under System Edit when I was wildly pressing buttons trying to get my PC3 and Px5 sync'd up. Working fine now.
pkd23
I had the same problem, tried various settings, and nothing seemed to work, until....I stumbled onto the PX-5S Editor Manual (!) and the answer, which fixed the problem. The Manual specifies what the correct settings are for given setups (e.g., MIDI vs. USB). In my case, I'm running USB between computer and instrument; for that setup, the Preferences section of the Manual clearly states that you should select the 'Auto-Search' option. When I did that, the connection was established, and it started to work! BTW, after a quick pass thru the Manual.... looks pretty good.
