CT-X700/X800 Rhythm Expansion Pack 1.0.0

   (13 reviews)

About This File

An expansion pack of 40+ Rhythms made specifically for the CT-X700 and CT-X800. I took all the CT-X3000/X5000 exclusive Rhythms and personally converted them to use the CT-X700 and X800's voice assignments to ensure maximum compatibility. These Rhythms will still work with other models, but the differences in voice assignments may result in some strange instrumentation on non CT-X keyboards. If your keyboard has access to an onboard Rhythm Editor, you can change the voices assigned to each track as needed.

Any CT-X3000/X5000 exclusive tones found in these Rhythms were changed to closest thing I could find on the X700, and all General MIDI tones in the original Rhythms were swapped out for their higher-quality equivalents whenever possible. As a result, some of these X700 Rhythms might even sound better than they do on the X3000/X5000, but they only have two variations to work with instead of the X3000's 4 Variations. When deciding on which variations to keep during the conversion process, I tried to make Variation 1 ("Normal" on the X700) whichever pattern sounded closest to the Intro pattern and Variation 2 ("VAR" on the X700) whichever pattern sounded as close as possible to the Ending pattern.

If you're an X700 User, you will need to use Data Manager for CT-X and a USB-B to USB-A data cable to transfer the files. If you're an X800 User, you have the option of using a USB flash drive for the transfer. Just make sure that the .AC7 Rhythm files are placed inside the MUSICDAT folder on the root of your flash drive so that the X800 can recognize them properly. Enjoy! :keys:

All I can say is thank you!!!  The Expansion Pack has lots of good rhythms.  The ones that really saved me though are the 6/8 rhythms I found in the Rhythm Archives.  These were exactly what I was looking for.  The built-in 6/8 rhythms in the CT-X700 are set up way too slow - even if I run them at full "throttle" of 255 bpm.  The 6/8 rhythms in the Archive all run faster.  Prior to the CT-X700, I had a Casio CTK-2550 and the 6/8 Rock Ballad rhythm ran faster on that keyboard too.  I'm not quite sure why Casio set up the CT-X700 that way but they need to change it (in my opinion anyway).

Thanks again Chandler!!

Grazie Chandler. Ho messo 10 bei ritmi (solo 12-13 sono stati riconosciuti dalla mia tastiera CTX 800) ma non importa! Li amo! Ben fatto!

Chandler:

I downloaded them onto my MZX500 and they work fine, at least the few I've tried so far.  I'm seeing several of the voices revert to the default GM sounds, but I have been able to edit the rhythms ok.  On the 500 I can change voice, volume, pan, reverb, chorus, and delay for each voice and assign them to different variations if I want.  Lots of power in this 500.  Interesting.

Thanks for the work.

Thanks Chandler...I can tell you almost every one of these play on the PX560 also, with correct instruments based upon what I am hearing. a few say "system overload" or something similar-I'm guessing there is more info in a few rhythms here that have more info than the PX560 can read. Only found 2 like that though and it might be because I have my user rhythms bank filled already. Sounds good. Do ckf rhythms play in the MZ-x series? If I upload more ckfs-can the MZ play these with accuracy? I would only be able to test on the PX560 or PX350.

Response from the author:

As far as I'm aware, any machine that can import .AC7 Rhythms will automatically convert .CKF Rhythms into .AC7 if you try to import them. As you know, there is no way to reverse the process and convert the .AC7 into .CKF, but .CKF Rhythms are compatible with the MZ-X series. Because .CKFs only use 2 Variations instead of the MZ-X's 4, Var1 and Fill1 will be copied to Var3 and Fill3 and Var2 and Fill2 will be copied to Var4 and Fill4 when you import them to the MZ-X.

I am glad to hear that they seem to be somewhat compatible with the PX-560's voice assignments. I can only guarantee absolute compatibility with the CT-X series, but for the most part, Casio has organized its tone memories such that similar voices will fall under the same Program Change number across all models. Where the discrepancies tend to arise are with the Bank Select values that further refine voice assignments: for example, 60's EPiano is assigned a Program Change value of 4 on both the X700 and 560, but on the X700, it is stored in Bank 6 as opposed to bank 18 on the 560. PC 4 in Bank 6 on the 560 will instead call up AiR EPiano5, which is close but not exactly what was intended.

Fortunately the 560 has an onboard Rhythm Editor that will allow you to easily modify the voice assignments if need be. The X700 lacks this feature, so it was important to make sure the voice assignments were properly transferred over before releasing this pack. Thank you for the kind review!
