  1. I've been working on some styles for Casio CTK keyboards and it's fun to do, already completed 5, but whenever i've renamed them on the computer and import them back in to the Casio they still say "No Data" So, i export them to my computer, rename them there, and then when i put them in to the Casio it says "No Data" Very weird stuff.. Someone who can help me?
  2. There used to be a time that the SA series had the same sound engine as the earlier CTK models i believe (Or was it the CA engine?) And they kept that engine from the late 80s (With the SA-1) Up until the SA-75 (Which is now roughly 11 years old?) Starting with the SA-4x and the newer 7x models they have improved their soundchip massively, and i would even go as far as saying that these toy keyboars from 2015-16-17 sound better than the mid 90s home Casio's did like the CTK-601/611/531 etc etc And for that money? I believe they're about $50-75 right? What Brad says, plug them in to your audio interface, open your DAW, start layering, and you can create pretty awesome sounding stuff
  3. Today i created a style for the CTK-7200 (And up, and lower models) Called 80s Radio Pop. It's my first serious attempt at creating a style on a Casio since i had the CTK-731 9 years ago. What do you think about it? Of course i'm not a professional programmer for Casio, but i did this all with the built in pattern sequencer, no converting from Mid to Style or other non-sens.
  4. I've downloaded all the Dance styles available from that package, about 30... And well, i'm not impressed, a few sound really good! But most of them are just plain bad.. And i'm going to be honest and say that i don't think that the people at Casio know how to program a Dance style... Disco styles are awesome, but Dance/Trance/Rap? Not so much.. Just listen for yourself, as i've demonstrated all the Dance/EDM type styles:
  5. That's certainly true, the Electric Piano's and even some of the normal piano's and especially the Drawbarorgans can give the more expensive Yamaha's a run for their money! And the brass sounds aren't more realistic than the Yamaha's i think, but they do have more bite, nice wordchoice there! And yes Gnomo that is me My YouTube account was first called BradgeMusicTube, so that's why i created this username, but i've decided to change the name to KeyboardMaestro, but now i'm stuck with this old name as a username for this forum lol
  6. Thanks for posting my video, lol. Basically the same stuff i said in the video i also said here..
  7. Ah Brad, i had no idea... in The Netherlands it's different, keyboards are cheaper here (But Cars more expensive lol) Mirka, i would say that it depends, the CT-X700 is compared to the E453/463 the better choice if you don't care about the 2 assignable knobs, and if you could care less about the sweet voices and better styles. The CT-X5000 compared to the S-670 is a completely different beast, the S-670 has the same soundset as the old Tyros 1, and that machine still sounds great to this day (16 years after it's initial release) But still, if you're a home user and you don't ask for much from your instrument then you should go for the X5000, if you occasionnally use it with a band and you're really making lots of arrangements on it and stuff like that you should go for the S-670 in my opinion. I always used Yamaha's for gigs and rehearsals, i gigged once with a Medeli and with a CTK-731 keyboard and it went awful, even with the E-403 that i had back then it went much better.. Don't know about the X-5000 but the S-670 (And Yamaha's in general for that matter) Just sound more dynamic through a PA than the Casio's i've played with..
  8. In my case the CT-X hype is over.. Watched some demo's of it, and while especially the CT-X700 is bang for buck it's just that the 800/3000/5000 are great machine but are lacking.. This is a Casio forum, i love Casio with all my heart but. - 64 notes of polyphony on an instrument that costs $500? PSR S-670 costs the same and has double that amount of polyphony. - Solo voices, voices with vibrato built in. Pretty neat, but Technics have been doing that since 1992 and Yamaha since 1996 (Calling it sweet voices) And the S-670 has that aswell + Megavoices) - Authentic Effects built into a sound, you mean like Technics did in the early 90s with the KN2000/KN3000? Cool. - 4 Variations, again, PSR S-670 costs the same, has the same variations. Sure the CT-X700 is unbeatable for the price in terms of sounds, because where the $200 Casio sounds like an $500 machine, the $200 Yamaha (Which is the E3xx series) Still sounds like a mid 90s PSR.. However, The CT-X700 sounds the same (give or take a few DSPs) Than the CT-X5000 which costs $500.. So the CT-X5000 sounds like a $200 Keyboard? The drums are incredible, great stuff that they're doing with guitars, and cool that they're finally implementing something that sound like Sweet! Voices, but apart from that... Are they really that innovative? I mean, $500 for the CT-X5000 can also buy you a Tyros 1, or a PSR 9000 and a CT-X700.. Let's discuss, what makes them stand out?
  9. I wouldn't call the MZ-2000 a collectors item.. The MZ-2000 is worth less in Holland than a KN-2000 by Technics. You can pick a MZ-2000 up for $150-200 here.. I know Casio has some nice stuff up their sleeves, and it would be bad if they didn't do anything with that, but you know.. It's not their game, the TOTL arranger bussiness..
  10. I don't think Casio will ever be doing this in the near future. Remember, it took them 15 years to implement some sort of Mega Voice technology in to their instruments with the MZ-X. 76 keys + touchscreen? No problem. Pro Styles? You mean that are on par with Yamaha's ? Not gonna happen.. Vocal Harmonizor? I doubt they want to do that, and even IF they will do that, i think that it will sound even worse than the VH on the older Tyros.. If they want they could make a Genos competitor for 1/3rd of the price, but that's not where their heart lies, and i don't think they know what to do to get rid of their "Trademark sound" They have surprised us with the MZ-2000, the CT-X and MZ-X range keyboardwise, but apart from that.. I doubt there will be a MZ-X1000 with Genos rivaling features... EVER...
  11. I was going to type "Just press *Left Hold*" But then i forgot that this is CasioMusicForums and not PSRTutorial lol. Ehm... Sustainpedal? I don't know how to do it otherwise actually....
  12. Not to mention the sounds that are superiour in many ways (I'm still in love with the Cool!/Sweet!/Live! Voices from the Yamaha's since the late 90s)
  13. Of course now the MZ-X300 is around the same price if you ship it from Germany, however if you don't want a fancy touchscreen i would say go for the CTK-7200, i'm playing it since about a week and i like it very much:
  14. Where is your Orchestral PIece then? I can't see a link..
  15. So the... 30000 is $150 cheaper but apart from a few things that no-one is ever going to notice unless it's pointed out (The DSP types) And a few things that not many people will use (The line-outs/microphone) The 3000 is also the same machine only cheaper and with some less options? (2x 6 watts vs 2x 15 well...)
  16. I don't think so actually, i had the PA700 and i didn't really notice any similairities, the colour scheme is completely different, and i think it's just something they think of as cool
  17. Well i know how that works, and i'm not talking about the song sequencer but about the pattern sequencer. I just find it odd that when you have 1-2-3-4 that between the 4 of the last beat and the 1 of the next it retriggers the notes that i held down again, i want THOSE to be held down. It's annoying, because you can't create realistic pads/strings or even brass accompiament parts for styles because they keep cutting off everytime the style has reached it's end (So to speak)
  18. I've acquired a Casio CTK-7200 yesterday which i really love, Casio was my first love and it will be my last (No matter how much i will love the Yamaha Genos and Tyros range whatever) BUT! One thing that i find annoying is that i can't seem to get a string sound or pad sounds to be a loop, after every measure it retriggers, so at the end of every measure it just stops for a bar, and that's pretty annoying, because i'm working on a style now that has 2 nice pads in them but i don't want them to retrigger, i want them to be seamless.. Anyone knows how that works? Thanks!!!
  19. I believe it's element edit. And you can make them as long as 16 measures!
  20. 3 years old, but, the reason the CTK 7x/WK7X does not have this is because of a different soundchip. The ZPI chip was designed around use of fantastid DSPs and still is one of the best sounding casio chips in my opinion, however the AHL chip is designed more around soundquality than effects. Too bad actually that they've stopped doing the ZPI after the CTK-900.. But the MXI and AIX chips are great new ones!
  21. So, the Yamaha Tyros is sold, and it's now time for something else to play on until i have enough money for the Yamaha Genos. Now, in Holland they sell the MZ-X500 for roughly 700 euro's BUT! In Germany i can get the MZ-X300 for about 400 euro's LESS. So that is a lot of money.. So i'm wondering, what exactly are the differences between the MZ-X300 and 500? 200 less tones (Because of the missing Hex Layer feature?) 128MB sample ram instead of 256MB ? 4 non-velocity sensetive pads instead of 16 velocity sensetive pads Less rythms (But you can probably load the X-500 rythms in there anyways..) Different colour. Anything else i'm missing here? I mean, 300 bucks for one of the best casio's out there (The other one being the X500) Is a steal.
  22. Not many synthesizers have a typical character to their sound, Yamaha's sounds too polished, Korg is too live, Roland is a very punchy but forgettable sound, but Casio's have a certain character, they never sound too live or too polished, but they do cut through a mix and have a certain, something that really adds up for that Casio sound.. You know what i mean? The Casio piano sounds from the 90s were terrible, the CTK-731 had a pretty bad plastic piano sound compared to the Yamaha's from that time period (PSR-7000/8000/9000 even had the LIVE! Grand Piano) BUT! I still enjoyed that piano sound more than i did the newer sounds with longer samples and stuff.. Drumwise, it's the same deal. Sure, my Tyros has fantastic sounding drums, but they don't stand up in a mix, they lack a certain punch, whils't even the WK-1800 drums i had (Especially the Power kit) Had incredible punch, the sound in terms of realism was meh (Although i love the toms!) But in terms of dynamics the Tyros drums didn't stand a chance. And even the toy keyboards sound really puncy and thick and dare i say? Fresh, compared to the Yamaha toy keyboards from the same time period.. The Casio SA range had a (i think) Very impressive piano sound, and a beautiful (Yes, i really love that sound) Church organ, and compared to the Yamaha's it was like night and day. What is it exactly that typical Casio character? Is it in the way they sample their sounds? (And please, can someone explain, HOW does the sampling of sounds for a keyboard work?) Because what i also hear a lot when i compare for example the Sweet! Tenor Sax from my Tyros to the BreathyTSax in the WK-3000 is that, the Yamaha sound is much nicer to the ear, better looppoints, and it's a more overall polished sound, but the Casio sound is more "In your face" And sounds really much more realistic despite the lack of the player's vibrato, how does that work? I think that this makes an interesting topic..
  23. Kris Nicholson does a comparison between the 7500 and 7600, talks about the better speakersystem, but also how the keys are less noisy and how the piano sound is better.
  24. Polyphony on both is the same. It has a much better sound-engine, probably a more intuitive OS with ditto pattern sequencer. Four variations per style. CT-X doesn't have drawbars, so i'm not sure about the leslie sim. I'm intriged by the CT-X5000! But i think that it's a bit of a miss from Casio to not ATLEAST put the MZ-X / PX touchscreen on there..
