  1. Wow, lots of questions. That's a good thing. I may have the answer to number 6). AiX sound engine should matter. It matters to me and was one the main reasons for getting a Casio. People perceive sound differently. Yamaha may have some catching up to do.
  2. I just found a CTK-611 at a local thrift store. Looked interesting, so I bought it. After a quick clean up, plugged it in and was somewhat impressed by the funky rhythms and quality sounds. The synth samples are really good. Drum pads even! There's 16 reviews over on the Sonicstate site. People like 'em. I need to run this board though some monitors. It could be gig worthy. I just realized they're the same keyboards (601/611).
  3. I just found one these at a thrift store today (with power supply!). Good timing as I don't want my kids playing on the CT-X. Did a low pressure de-dusting with the air compressor and cleaned it up a bit. Must say, this is a neat little keyboard with some really nice synth sounds. I may prefer the backlight on the screen over the CT-X5000. Go figure! Please excuse the barrel distortion from the camera lens, and the low light performance. It's an old camera too.
  4. Ok, I can see the first file name (Arp This) on the display now! Now I just need to figure out how to play these downloaded tones.
  5. Thanks Brad. Yes, all unzipped TON files except for one ORGAN1.RBK file at 4kb. which should be OK. I did however find 1 file with a different extension (and date) that may have been from the flash drive itself. I have removed that particular file and will report back tonight with my findings. Also, I got rid of the folders with in the MUSICDAT folder so each individual sound file is viewable without opening yet another folder.
  6. I don't have any user files to save yet. I did use the flash drive to update the firmware so in that application, the flash drive worked. I tried accessing the new sound folders from Mike Martin and after the binding process, the display read "err no file fnd". I tried two different flash drives, both of them in the FAT32 format. One is 16GB, the other 1GB. I even used the keyboard to format the 1GB and yes, the MUSICDAT file was installed when complete. Am I doing something wrong?
  7. . . . in order to utilize the sounds on the downloadable CT-X 5000 files, can each sound be stored within it's folder or should they be available individually on the drive? I hope this make sense as I'm new to this digital wonderland (saxophone player). Looking forward to working with these "X-Files".
  8. Oh yeah, I guess I missed the "any button" thing. I stand corrected! Thanks Brad.
  9. I have updated the firmware also. All went well after a somewhat frustrating moment just after Step 6. When "SEL FILE" is displayed, you need to do something to get to step 7. This is NOT mentioned in Casio's Word document, so I selected "5" on the keypad and only then did I see "CTX50105". The remaining process was as per the document.
  10. I have not tried that yet. I suppose I will though to make sure the port is working. Thanks.
  11. Greetings, proud owner of CT-X5000 here. Can someone more tech savvy help me with playing songs from my music library through the keyboard? I'm using this software https://www.freac.org/index.php/en/homepage-mainmenu-1 to convert my WMA files to WAV files and storing them on the MUSICDAT folder on my flash drive. So far the Casio is not recognizing the files on my flash drive.
