Good ideal AlenK, in all fairness to casio, when I heard the xw dist/od guitar's, I was like yuck, and I moved on to other sound's, kind of giving up on the dist/od guitar's on the xw-p1. Guess I was a little spoiled on my motif's instant gratification. It's funny though, the only thing I miss about my motif compared to the xw-p1, is those dist/od guitar's and the strum guitar tone. The xw-p1 has everything else covered. If someone can create a convincing dist/od guitar on the xw-p1, that would be most excellent. however, I have found if you use external dist/od with the xw-p1, and you turn off the insert on the xw-p1 dist/od guitar's, you can create pretty convincing dist/od guitar's.

Hi AlenK, I agree with you. I could write song's on the XW-P1 to infinity. The only thing lacking for me is the dist/od guitar's. Might get me a Yamaha mm6 for those guitar's, but mostly the XW-P1 has a whole universe of sound's, and functionality. A very satisfiying synth.

In the last two or three year's I have noticed since casio started using blue l.e.d.'s other manufacturer's have started using blue l.e.d's.

I agree XW-Addict, I was spoiled on the motif synth, but when I heard the XW-P1 sounding as good or in some case's better than vintage analog(solo) or (poly) hex, exept for filter sweep's, how could I not love this synth. I do not claim to be a synth expert, but I know a great sound when I hear it. With my XW-P1 I have every analog synth in the world. It is so easy for me to forget im jamming with a digital synth sometime's. Other than the dist/od guitar's this synth is kick a**.

Hi AlenK, it's kinda weird to me that the few negative review's I have read are from people who don't even really seem to know much about the xw,or if they do, there's one little thing it does not have, they have a fit and say they would never want the xw. In my opinion, these people want the perfect synth (there is no perfect synth) Again this is just my opinion, but those people have a narrow view on this subject.

Wow! Jokeyman123, I like casio, but that is a really crappy way to run a business. ship the xw and only then can you get an estimate. They should at least tell you the cost to repair the firmware, then if they found something additional wrong with it they could charge you for it if you wanted the xw fixed. At least that would be a heck of a lot better than the crappy way their doing it now. but then again maybe there's more than one way to fix a firmware,(I don't know if there is) and different way's may have different price's, maybe that's why they do it that way. Still there has to be a better way for casio to handle these type of thing's.

Hi Brad MZ PX, you are correct, the demo song is Night Bird's. This casio is a 1987 model. Best four dollar's I have ever spent on collectable gear. Enjoyed the video. thank's.

I had a good day, I found a 1980's casiotone ct-370 at the goodwill for four dollar's. It is in really good shape. a fun collectable.I will post some pic's in the near future.

Hi forum, I read the negative post on that site. How in the world can they say the xw's are a marketing failure? do they work at casio? no. Do they have info that only casio executive's would have? no. What it really is are just a few people talking through their butt's. This is just more controversy for the xw's . Great gear is often controversial.

If anyone at casio is listening, please give us just one more video tutorial on the xw series, and include a how to get wave file's on to sd card. Basically a tutorial with alot of attention given to the data editor.

Hi Jokeyman123, Im sorry to hear that about your XW-P1, I hope you get it back up and running. P.S thank's for letting us know about the anti virus that caused the xw to crap out. Might save other people's xw's.

Alenk is indispensable to this forum. His knowledge is vast, also happyrat1, and Scott Hamlin, are indespinsable. These guy's should get a paycheck from casio.

I wish it was a little sampler big enough for the shelf's on the XW's and px-5s, a sampler with little mini key's that would double as pad's. Slightly better than cd quality sound, midi, little sequencer, lighted key's(pad's) , battery or electric powered. like the korg volca's. It's Probably not a little sampler. Im surprised some company hasn't made a sampler like this. Korg did sort of , but it was to big and to pricey. and there was no storage to sd card.

Almost everything I do with the XW-P1,is multitracked into my digital recorder. I start out with a drum beat i program with the step seq, or a piano or pad phrase from the phrase seq. All timed to midi. I also have roland cosm effect's.They are two VS-8Fboard's installed in my vs2400 multi tracker.

That was very cool, but I cant help but think, we sure have come a long way.

I still have my sk-1, it is hooked up through the mic and inst input of my XW-P1. I can do some spooky, and goofy stuff this way.

Cool, Mike Martin said way back during the second xw clinic vid, he was trying to get casio to do another firmware update. To get this on Halloween is a treat. I feel like I went trick or treating and when I knocked on casio's door they gave me this improvement to my xw. Firmware update's are alway's happily welcome. Any improvement's to the gear is a good thing. Thank you for this Mr Martin, and casio. And to everyone at casio and on the forum, have a very happy and safe Halloween.

Hi AlenK, thank's for the info. That is very interesting, I think you may have solved the mystery of the phantom filter sweep in hex mode in the german video.
