  1. both in their higher range i use the mixer on the XW a lot to raise and lower the drums.I don't need to lower the volume on --- the lower octaves.Plus that puts me back to a ---song specific and after the fact area ..I guess in that domain I could try to run it thru an equalizer or compressor- I run the signal into my digital mixer from there to the amp.I come out of the headphone jack on the ctk and a mono out from the XW's line out plug. The DSP is a thought --I will take a look at which one is on --if any thanks
  2. I have an xw- p1 and ctk 671--At the most inopportune time in the higher registers--when i hit pretty hard the volume goes much too high --much too quick--It is not a problem with other tones--I am wondering about a global fix==even with touch response set to 3 the ctk it is still as bad= setting velocity sensing seems also ---to little avail on the xw--any suggestions will be appreciated==I know the gain settings -EQs etc- on the system can be tweaked but thought I would ask here --thanks Tom
  3. Oh I have it ingrained now -learned it the hard way ==that does it haha..I will look closer for that FILTER word next time. Even got the tempo settings going along for the change
  4. Got it-the opposite of intuity--you forum regulars put this in your memories, for the next victim. one of the menus lists the sequencers( step-arpeggios-etc) tempo with a yes or no toggle. the engineers had it wired backwards is my guess--- so they named the choices a filter in the book. if you want them to change with your choices you toggle to no ????. No one is perfect but they could have warned us. It looks like these things are going to be hard to find collector types ,so you guys need to brush up
  5. the dsp includes a couple of rotaries but nothing to write home about---the drawbar with it's rotary with brake parameter is fun but takes some learning i,the switch for the fast /slow on the brake can be toggled to another unwanted job so you might have to learn about that. The bass on the organ--- even if splitting in an octave down instrument on the left it is not something to write home about. no matter how many times you set the levels to be even ---somewhere one of the two will be too loud or the opposite. I do get by with it ,by keeping things simple. An octave down done wonders last night on a piano preset ,I was trying to learn lady madonna ,it has a lot of left hand going on,for my limited ability that is
  6. The spec sheet says it does not throw out a midi clock master signal.guess what after a few years -the other night i realized when the the rhythm accompaniment is set in motion it does send out clock.I like this old rig especially for driving a sound module from the same era. the waterfall keys are cool too
  7. So I go to a performance I created --in the edit mode i hit sequencers -- then--to step sequencer --I adjust the selection to the sequence number created for that performance. I exit back to the performance screen and punch in the'' save '' as I have known how to do a couple of years{no problem there}. It never saves the number --I gave up saving the song tempo years ago.. Having to keep a sheet and punching in a number usually is too much to keep up with --when rolling with the band --is there a cure. --the newly selected performance selects the one already in the slot instead of moving to the new one. I do have an effects unit that gives a global either/or choice in similar choices. Is there a cure --thanks
  8. For other novices ,I just found something needed that escaped me.. The screen is reading performance and the hex layer is lit in the tone choices To do this adjustment ,this happened.. On the far left above the sliders ,---- one has to push the step sequence button there to make the connection.( the choice is solo synth-draw bar--hex--step seq Since I was in hex layer which also uses the sliders,I had to shift it back to hex layer afterwards. This lets your work on the step sequencer without shifting anything else. I was bringing the Step Sequencer up on the screen but that was not the right move.
  9. I found it, the master slider with the function button set on velocity is close enough for me
  10. I don't think there is anywhere to group the mixer channels 8 thru 13 under a virtual controller. As far as hooking the computer to it, I shy away from that knowing 1 wrong move can ruin it. I guess the computer / i pod would have to be hooked up when playing which makes more complications to keep up with anyway.. I was wondering if maybe there was some way with NRP numbers but that is a shot in the dark .
  11. There is no way to turn the Volume of the drums (step SeQ) down on the fly .One has to go to the mixer and hit 5 individual adjustments. Even my ctk 691bhas an accompaniment volume. Example I have some real song playing going on in a jam.I kick in the step and it is way loud . It is like ,wait everyone while I go to the mixer, I see no virtual controller route either. Any help would be appreciated. Tom
  12. Never mind, key shift was set on on the step sec ,that i was not using
  13. I set my performance in the drawbar organ mode and both zones being used have the dsp rotary effect installed, with the key switch set to toggle between slow and fast for some Goldy McJohn swoosh attempts. It seems this'' ties up'' the lower octave just like key switch does in certain sequencers, any work arounds or ideas welcome
  14. In the Xw-P1 manual under editing the track for control 14---- one has to select a tempo ------this seems like it should not be here since it should be linked to the existing tempo ---It looks like something that would cause 2 tempos at once
  15. Here is the Mike Martin post https://www.casiomusicforums.com/index.php?/files/file/1426-jx-analog/
  16. Oh I have some user presets I go to that have been stripped down.this is more a nod to the ease of hex layers and it's ability to build from single waves upwards.
  17. So I post this ,then Mike Martin comes up posting a blog on hex layers and turning off reverb. I accidentally deserve a nod.Running audio out to stand alone effects gives me better parameters on reverb, chorus and most DSPs but my keyboard's hex layers with their ''one on one ''samples have me in their grip right now. Then sometimes i get in a solo synth mood
  18. using my XW-p1 thanks https://youtu.be/30q3MBB8UFA 1394231221_TheMaidBehindTheBar.f4v
  19. I actually bought a casio instead a Timex for the first time,I should get a out of jail free card.
  20. I think I hear several chord changes ,and not sure if you meant adding the 6th of the root scale{ AKA relative minor chord root) or if you meant the full 6thchord .Maybe I am hearing wrong as usual. Anyway it is nice music. You probably meant something completely different anyway ha ha
  21. This one has more of the grass thump ,same plastic ivories ha hahttps://youtu.be/FjxLiJoVzRM
  22. I have not tried one of these for awhile ,I learned a lot ,the hard way.https://youtu.be/RHjos7qPbZk most tones from the XW-P1 thanks Tom
  23. There are several areas during editing ,where reverb ,chorus and DSP s are in the parameter lists. I turn one down then run into one I miss..As mentioned I can get them turned down ,but was wondering why they are always partially installed ,It seems to be a corner all synths paint themselves in to. I have some nice rack effects I would rather use ,sometimes also I like to place them in the chain to suit me. Actually I will have to check out accessing from the mixer ,I do use it for volume on the individual parts.thanks guys
  24. Is the hex layers mode one that is utilized on a variety of models or only one or 2. If so would their parameters be the same?thanks Tom
  25. did you ever think that sometimes we don't want reverb and chorus .I-know I know --I can edit them out ,but sometimes just a plain wave has more room to slice and dice. imo lately I have been going the hex layer route and starting with a bare bones wave .It helps me grasp what each parameter change actually does to the audio. Speaking of hex -layer ,on my XWp1--- In a layer , I was editing ''pitch LFO''--- it had a setting for LFO depth '' this'' was obviously doing that. Here is the mystery it also had one called ''modulation depth'' that I can't get to do anything. Does anyone know where this ,comes into play? The modulation wheel works fine but this does not communicate with it either. thanks Tom
