  1. Awesome, once again, Brad! Thanks so much for your time and details here for me. Cheers! James
  2. Awesome! Thanks for the quick reply and answer, Brad. But is it really just as simple as that? If you have a spare moment, could you expand on why this is, so that I may learn and understand? I'm pretty well versed and experienced in almost all things MIDI, but when there's 3 different sets/groups/mixers, it can be confusing and even a bit overwhelming at times to know what to choose - and when. James
  3. Hello All, I like the piano sounds on my Casio PX 560M Privia, [which I bought new a few years ago now]. They’re really quite good. But when I play the actual PX 560M keyboard, I get a different sounding patch than when I play the same assigned Casio piano patch triggered from another external digital MIDI 88 keyboard. [There are no issues with the MIDI transmission of notes on/off, velocity, and sustain pedal CC64 messages being received whatsoever - all work/transmit fine. It has also never been taken out of home to a gig, nor had any one else touch or mess with it - only me.] I have the incoming MIDI channel set to ‘C’ [default] in the settings and in the mixer. But it just doesn’t sound the same, even when I go into the 3 mixers and set the piano patch I like in both ‘A’ and ‘C’ in the mixer itself. [I'm using the 'LA Piano' patch.] With proper external Allen & Heath QU16 Mixer settings and tweaking, I've got it sounding excellent - but again, only when I play the Casio keyboard itself directly. I've tried saving to a few separate Registrations as well. Am I missing something? Do I need to change the incoming MIDI channel setting to ‘A’, instead of ‘C’? Or Possibly 'B'? [I learned many years ago of what ‘Local On/Off’ does and means, so I'm also wondering if that’s something else to consider toggling in the settings menu.] So, in summary: My goal, desire, and quest here, is to have the external digital 88 MIDI piano trigger/sound the same patches/sounds that I hear when playing the Casio keyboard itself. Any help would be much appreciated. Thank you, James
  4. Hi all, I'm wondering if I can control the pitch bend using an expression (or other) pedal in the Assignable Pedal input. Does anyone know or has maybe tried it? [I'm using a PX 560]
  5. Hey. well I'm both, so I guess that's why I like my own company! What musician doesn't?
  6. Thanks Brad. I was already browsing through the manual, so I'll have a look for it now. Edited: Adding this: Yup - page A-5, but in the back of the main manual, (not in the Appendix), just FYI for future inquiries.
  7. I was initially surprised to see A, B and C, and have pretty much figured out A and C, but I'm still unsure what 'B' is for, as nothing shows there, (at least so far). Can either you or Brad elaborate a bit on that Jokeyman 123?
  8. Got it Jokeyman! "My name is George. I'm unemployed and live with my parents"! Then the blonde beauty takes a shine to him, haha. 'Goodfella' here George! But luckily, George Costanza is not on 'our list', so you're good to go, haha! ........................................................................................................................... I didn't think I could bypass the volume, but thought I'd ask, just in case it was in the software options somewhere. I've pretty much gotten use to this entire keyboard now with all it's windows and options but I'm still leaning the last few things as I go. .............................. Jokeyman: If all your default values are at 127-maxed out, tone down to 100 or less. That way I have an upper "window" to jack up any particular sound when balancing a mix if I need to. .............................. Yup, I'm liking the 100 vs.127 volume, which I've taken note of. I'm just about to get into registrations. I'm guessing I can set this up so that my volumes are at 100 vs.127, no? Then I could keep that as my main startup reg. .................................... But I didn't know this: ................................... Jokeyman: And when you record-look at the level of channel "A" in the mixer window, to see what it's default volume is-this will be the volume of the first track you record-but will end up in the "C" midi channels. You may have your "A" channel souped all the way to 127, which would make the volume control seem a little "twitchy" So, thanks for that tid-bit of info. That just might be it. Much appreciated Jokeyman (and 'Brad' and 'T' that also chimed in). Solo-Man
  9. Hey Buds, I'm enjoying my PX-560M. I've noticed that the volume knob is quite sensitive - so much so, that when I reach for the white 'Rhythm' button just to the right of it to start a rhythm, that I often inadvertently bump the volume knob with my left hand, especially in low light. So is there a way to temporarily bypass/disable the volume knob, (other than pulling the black plastic knob right off the volume control pot/reo-stat it controls 😏 )? Thanks Buds, Solo-man
  10. Thanks Guys - particularly to Jokeyman123 for the detailed reply. Thanks for taking the time to type all that out!
  11. Thanks guys. So with the new added tones that are available, I assume there's no real memory limit to be concerned with? In other words, I wouldn't have to start deleting some stock on-board tones to make room for some new ones, correct?
  12. Thanks for the welcome Brad. Gee, how could anyone tell I'm a tad excited? Couldn''t possibly be from my overly-exuberant post, could it?? Hahah!
  13. Hello All! I'm quite happy to announce that I'm the proud new owner of brand new PX560! And to be completely honest, I just can't #%^&ing wait! In fact, if I were a 12 year old pre-pubescent girl, I probably would have wet myself just a tiny bit over it already!! I paid for it yesterday, and it should ship out tomorrow (Monday presumably). I should have it in a week. YAY! ......................................... A bit about myself: I'm in my 50's now and got my professional debut as a singer/piano player in 1983 - (yes, I'm that old!). My very first keyboard was the now infamous black 76 key Wurlitzer, complete with 4 shiny pole legs and a single knob for volume and another to the left of it for tremolo. To date, I have purchased 15 keyboards, pianos and synths. My 3rd synth was the incredible Korg DW-8000 - great keyboard, of which I now have the rack mount version (EX-8000), but don't use. In my small studio, I have a set of V-Drums and a Yamaha P-200 that I bought slightly used in 2001 for $2000 - still working great as always - and my newer, bigger Roland V-Piano, which is an absolute delight to play. The keys are simulated ivory and feel like silk, and are a constant invitation to keep on playing - so much so, that some of my piano solos are now 15-20 minutes long, which, in a 5-6 minute song, is nothing short of ridiculous! I bought that one 'as new' 3-4 years ago from the original owner who never played it, for just over half price, (including their extremely over-priced stand that goes with it). My last gig was 15 years ago - in 2005, (basically because I got sick and tired of being treated like sh#t by so many for so long). The keys I used back then were the Yamaha P-80, which I was just never satisfied with. I bought it because it was lighter and portable. But things are different now and I can't wait to get out there again. I have about 800-900 pop songs in my repertoire, learned over the years when I used to play 6 nights a week in the 1980's. I've been learning new songs ever since and have added about another 2 dozen lately. To say that I'm super impressed and totally excited about this new PX560 purchase is an understatement. Of all my other 15 keyboard purchases, I don't think I've ever been so excited about a new set of keys coming at me! Like virtually everyone else on earth, I had no idea that Casio upped their game a number of years ago, and was under the common impression that Casio keyboards were left behind in the dust - small, cheap, no longer used, and basically sitting, collecting dust in most peoples bedrooms. So imagine my surprise to see what I would call 'the best kept secret on earth'! There's just something about the PX560 that I'm very excited about, after reading countless reviews, watching numerous videos, and comparing fairly to other makes and models. Like I said - I can't #%^&ing wait!!!! Cheers!! - and Happy New Year. I think its gonna be a good one!
