  1. This is a brilliant ragtime piano. It sounds so realistic that it is hard to believe you are playing a modern instrument. Indeed, if your imagination is sufficiently overactive, you may - like me - find yourself closing your eyes and thinking that you can feel a difference in the keys.... :-)
  2. Good work Mike!! Can't wait to get my dose of the remedy.!! (Fingers crossed that it will work....) Many many thanks for all of your efforts in sorting it out for us - your help in this matter is very much appreciated!! .
  3. Hi guys. I've just had a busy few days but now have my Sherlock hat back on, magnifying glass in hand and am keen to crack this.... Choppin: I have tried a different memory stick and the problem remains so we can safely rule that out. I also tried your approach of pressing the "write" button as part of the test. I tried in 7-2 and it saved the setting correctly, with or without pressing that button. For me, the problem seems to lie exclusively in 0-0 and it happens without me pressing the write button. Jaspeter: Interesting to hear your update. I have not attempted to load in entire sets of stage settings (don't think I would dare at this point, until the issue is resolved...) But it sounds like - as in Choppin's case - things can go wrong for you anywhere in the 99 stage settings. Strange how it only occurs in 0-0 for me. I don't know what that can mean. Well done on making the video. I also have made a video for Mike (made it before I saw his post above stating that he doesn't need any more.......) Even as I write it is making its way, electronic droplet by electronic droplet into the black hole that is called dropbox, with the speed of a diseased tortoise. Mike: Brilliant news about you replicating Jaspeter's results!! I am planning to shortly be sending you a copy of the above mentioned high quality post-modern-avant-garde-cinema-verite-epic video (LOL) by PM - unless you really don't want it.... I am hoping that perhaps it might be of some use as my experience seems to be slightly different to that of the others? I believe it is also showing quite a lot of potential in cases of extreme insomnia...... Best wishes all.
  4. Hi Choppin. OOh! Your problem is definitely more severe than mine then. I just tried loading a stage setting from the USB into a random slot and it was fine. My problem is only with 0-0 for some reason - perhaps because I keep accidentally dropping things in there, and the keyboard is showing its disapproval....... Or maybe your keyboard is newer than mine and therefore you have a more advanced version of the problem......... Do you think it might possibly be the USB sticks? As you say, it is not a huge problem, but I have found not knowing when it would next happen a bit worrying and would really love to get to the bottom of it all. (Also I can't stand a mystery......) It is good to know that the problem is only connected with the USB stick. Hopefully Mike will hear back from the engineers soon...
  5. I just read your post again Choppin. Are you saying that the problem arises EVERY time you attempt to load a stage setting in from your USB stick, and no matter which slot you put it in?
  6. Hi Choppin. That is extremely interesting!! I just tried overwriting slot 0-0 from the editor (feeling slightly queasy as I did it as I have a gig tomorrow.....) but you are right: I was able to load two tones into 0-0 and both reminded glued in place throughout two power cuts. So I am wondering; could there possibly be a problem with our USB sticks? It seems a bit like grasping at straws to me, but I don't know enough about the whole setup to know whether this is possible. I haven't got a spare one on hand to try just now, but will look into it unless I hear that it is not a possibility? Mine says "Sandisk Cruzer 4GB" on it. It also makes me wonder whether most people using this keyboard add their sounds directly from the editor, and so MIGHT also have the problem were they to use a USB stick.....
  7. Hi Mike. I loaded the concert grand sound from a USB stick.
  8. Hi Mike. Thanks for the suggestion, but regretfully (and to my surprise!) it did not work. I did exactly as you suggested; reinstalled the update, initialized, then reloaded all my stuff. I then tried turning off the piano twice and both times my concert grand was still in place. Next (and rather against my instincts) I installed the stage setting mentioned above into slot 0-0 - from the usb stick. Turned the piano off and it was still there. Felt a glimmer of hope... Finally I reinstalled the concert grand. As soon as I turned off the piano it vanished and was replaced by the PhasChDistEP sound. I am certain you will have a similar experience Choppin. What a shame, but the puzzle remains unsolved. Thanks for your help anyways, Mike - always very much appreciated. On the plus side, I am now pretty hot at loading, unloading and saving all the bits contained within this keyboard.....
  9. OH no.........Last night I had a great time loading in all of the new vintage sounds (from a USB stick). Got all of them where I wanted them....except twice (inevitably) I didn't set the slot number and so they ended up in 0-0. (You know what I am about to say, don't you....) The final one which I put there was PhasChDistEP. I do not remember what the first one was. This morning I reloaded the much loved concert grand into its normal 0-0 place. Then thought I had better just check.....Switched the piano off, and sure enough, am back to the PhasChDistEP sound. As you have mentioned, Choppin, this is clearly an ongoing problem which is not going to go away. Fortunately I know how to do a temporary fix but in future I will definitely carry a USB stick of my sounds on me at all times just in case. I am only surprised at how few of us have had this problem so far.... Let's hope the engineering wizards are able to get to the bottom of it soon. Having said all that, the PX-5s is still amazing beyond belief, (as is it's incredible after sales service!!!!!) and this small problem is the only one I have had with it.
  10. Hi Choppin. Yes that is right. I just did it once and since then my grand piano sound has lived happily in its old slot. I have not attempted to test it to see if the problem would reappear if I were to load the unwanted stage setting again. I have been letting sleeping dogs lie.... However, at some point I fear I am bound to accidentally load something in there, because the stage setting is 0-0, and if you forget to select another number before you hit "write" when changing stage settings around, it defaults to this one. I have moved around pretty well every other stage setting on the keyboard now and had no problems at all anywhere else. Best wishes.
  11. Hi Choppin. Thanks for the info! I don't think that v. 1.11 is the problem, as my experience happened a few weeks BEFORE it was released. I think I did not express myself very clearly in my previous post. What I did was: empty the slot with the help of the data editor. I then turned off the keyboard. Then turned it back on, reloaded the stage setting I wanted and all has been fine since. It may be possible to empty a slot without the data editor - I don't know. I am a bit slow at grasping new technology. The important thing seemed to be to have an empty slot and then turn off the power. Seemed to properly erase the keyboard's memory. Are you saying that it has happened to you more than once? Ie. with different stage settings? I guess, having had it happen once, it is a bit unsettling and I am wondering whether I should always be carrying a memory stick with all my sounds to all my gigs just in case....
  12. Hi Jaspeter and Choppin. I was wondering how things were going for you. Did you have to re-initialize your keyboard, Jaspeter; and if you did, was it successful? Is your stage setting ok now Choppin? Did you delete it completely, or was there another way round it? Thanks.
  13. Hi Choppin, I was very interested to read your post as I had a similar experience several weeks ago. I accidentally loaded a stage setting into 0-0 and therefore lost my beloved grand piano. I reloaded the grand piano, but as soon as I turned the keyboard off, it reverted to the other, unwanted stage setting. This happened several times before I realised what was going on (kept thinking that I was somehow inadvertently doing something wrong....). The fix which was suggested to me was to connect the keyboard to the data editor and completely delete the stage setting (so that the slot is empty). I can't remember how to do this off the top of my head, but I can find out for you if you need me to. Having totally emptied the slot, when I reintroduced the grand piano it worked fine and has done ever since. I never found out why it had done that and wondered if version 1.11 would have fixed it. Clearly it has not, so I hope that some of the experts on this forum might be able to shed some more light on the matter. Please let us know how you get on with this.

I now have a much better version of this, so felt I ought to replace my old, inferior one. This stage setting is designed for use in a band and allows you to play both the clav and the horns on one keyboard. I have used the steely clav sound from the vintage keys selection and Brasssection mixed with a trumpet. I like the bite you get from the steely clav. I have added some portamento onto the brass section. Better effects now also, I believe. Here is a sample: https://soundcloud.com/body-and-soul-jazz/superstitionsswav/s-EojVD

This is my first attempt at an organ sound. It is not very good yet and I had no intention of sharing it in this state, but it was suggested that I post it in case anyone fancied having a go at tweaking it (or performing major surgery on it....). I like the basic sound, but it does not cut through a mix very well. Not sure why - but that is not surprising as I do not know what I am doing..... I should mention that this sound is derived from an excellent 9 layer organ sound which was posted here by someone else. That sound is very good, but not the sound which I am looking for - if that makes sense...hence my efforts.
