Hi everyone! I have not been on the forum in a while . Just returned a Roland Fa-06 and was thinking about purchasing the MZX 500. I loved my XW- P1 and made several hex-layer sounds which I shared on this site. Is 128 notes polyphony enough to run four combined hex-layers on the MZX-500 ? Or should I look into a used PX-5S with its doubled polyphony? I love creating orchestral and soundtrack kind of sounds to use. The arranger part and pads on the MZX-500 really would be nice though . I would really be ticked off to purchase the MZX and then a month later Casio release a newer version with higher polyphony. Thanks for any input guys and gals !

Are you getting peaks from the audio interface or are you showing peaks in logic?
If the audio interface has a volume control adjust it there to see if you can drop it from there. If not try adjusting within Logic.
Also are you running the keyboard out from the headphone jacks or the the (left mono)and right )1/4 jacks?

How are the Styles on The 7500? Would love to have one myself.

Are you gonna run the k2000 as a third board?

Oh ok. I had saw that somewhere else before. Thanks Brad.

I can find the factory default data for XW-G1 on Casios website, but I don't see this option for The XW-P1. Is there a way to set it back to the factory settings?

I just wanted to share with you guys what I keep my XW In when not being played. I found this item at a local thrift store for just a couple bucks. It is a carrying bag for suits and dresses, but it fits my XW perfect. I would recommend something like a towel on the top of your board if the zipper worries you. I bet this would work for almost any boards out there. plus I get two zipper pockets on the front also.Pretty handy for extra cables.

This is a hex layer patch.
Sliders 1 and 2 are stereo panned Choirs.
Sliders 3 and 4 are stereo panned old tape pads.
Slider 5 is Slow Strings.
Slider 6 is a tremolo organ.
I wanted a patch so I could play some of the older 50's and 60's songs. My dad was a child of the 50's ,so that"s usually all we play when we get together for some jamming sessions.
This patch has an almost transistor organ crossed with mellotron sound.
Of course you can adjust for your own tastes.
Works well for songs like - End of the world.
House of the Rising Sun
Stand by Me
Telestar
96 Tears

I may give a soundbar a try one of these days. May get some good results just for playing at home.

This is a hex layer sound.
1 and 6 are panned stereo strings. (full volume}
2 and 5 are panned stereo pads sounds (half volume)
3 is a piano. (muted volume)
4 is a guitar. (muted volume)
A very orchestral strings and pads heavy sound. Very dramatic sounding. I have sliders 3 and 4 turned all the way down so you can choose either piano or guitar. Or you can bring both in.
I think this one turned out nice. Please be sure to rate it if you like.

Ha! I see you added the Dolby logo to the face. Looks good on there!

I found an arranger forum a few years ago where some of the users were using home theater systems for speakers instead of amps. I believe they were using logitechs. They were really raving about how good it sounded.
Has anyone here ever tried this? Could be a cheaper alternative to a pricey stereo amps. I wonder how good an XW-P1 would sound this way?

I've posted several sounds on the forum here and really enjoy it. I like the ratings and high download numbers a lot better than the thank yous.
My biggest thanks would to maybe hear one of my sounds used in a song by another forum member or maybe even a band.(one can dream )
How cool would it be for some musician 20 years from now, to stumble onto my sounds and download them to their Classic Xw-P1.
P.S. Thank you for your pack Djerazore! It take a lot of time and effort on your part and is really appreciated.

Some of the other Privias have duet mode. This is where a Teacher and student can split the board and play in unison. This would allow them to play in the same octaves at the same time. I'm not sure why they would need headphone jacks though.
Maybe the second one is for sending a click track to a drummer?
I wonder if you could run the second headphone out and back into the audio in and apply effects or filters to it?
I bet there is no sound difference between the two though.
Maybe someone can come up with a definite reason for two headphone jacks?
Casio might have been giving us more bang for our buck

I would upload my sounds to soundcloud if I had some way to record my XW-P1. My favorite HexLayer I've made is called Letting Go. It's a good piano in my opinion.
I really love my Xw, but I have A Privia Px-5s on my wish list for sure.

Ok I put it back up. You can try it and see if you like it.

I took it off.The more I played it the less I liked it. I'll try and see if I saved it.
-
Be careful if you download and install this pack of sounds. They are really good sounds but instead of being individual sounds... he saved the whole keyboard settings as the pack. So your XW basically clones into his. Be sure to back up all your settings and sounds first. I tried his sounds but then had to put my saved settings back in. I guess you could separate his sounds with the data editor then put them in that way.
So be forewarned.

I just realized something. By me saying the P1 would be too hard for Scottie Dog or you saying the Px 5s would be to hard for him, we both are kinda wrong. The P1 ,G1 and even the Ps-5s have virtually identical operating systems. I mean even the knobs and buttons are almost identical. There would not be much differences in the way all three of these boards work.
I guess it really comes down to scotty dogs technical abilitys and tastes
