  1. Not familiar with the song, but very cool... 👍 I do the same thing, recording, listening, fixing, recording again... But I'm trying to play "unplugged" now, without rhythm, to try something different. The advice from m10538 was right on the money, but I need practice...
  2. That's awesome! This is my favorite "classical" piece, but you chose a so very difficult piece to play!!! Good for you to stretch... Congratulations, Tsquare! 😀
  3. Awesome! I would never.... But it was different, I remember when I was coming up with it, and I like the "bridge" (?) and I created the three variations. BTW, the ending is kind of my attempt to humor (weird ending). Thanks!
  4. OK, this is very different from what I normally come up with, and it's piano solo, so maybe people will like it... "Villancico", BTW, means Christmas Carol in Spanish, and I have no idea why I gave it that name. "del Sur" is because a part of it reminded me of some South American sounds, but I've never been to Peru.
  5. You made me curious and I went back to my webpage and found out that I had deleted that video (and I think a couple of others) because I wasn't happy with the recording. I'm uploading them again because I think I even deleted some from the YouTube channel... I have to look into this... Jealousy? That emotion, along with envy, is one I never experienced.... I have "admiration" for some, but never envy or even jealousy... When I hear some piano playing I really like, I just enjoy it to the max and I may WISH that I could play like that, but to be jealous??? It's so negative... But unfortunately, psych is very complicated, so you may be somewhat right (I'll give them the benefit of a doubt).
  6. Thanks, man! I wish my siblings would be as supportive... 🙁
  7. Thanks for your encouragement. I truly am my worst critic, and I'm so painfully aware of my shortcomings... This is not false modesty; I know I play OK and it's all by ear, but not the way I would WANT to play... I am getting better, though, and your advice came right on time, because I have already learned a lot using the rhythms, and now I can put my learning to good use, so thanks again! "So In Love" is already up in my YouTube channel, and it's on my page www.sergiosongs.com on the "Songs I live" tab. Here's the link:
  8. Not tried Gershwin songs except fooling around with the piano, but I did try "So In Love" by Porter, but did a horrible job with it. Nevertheless, I did learn a lot about harmony, because finding his chords was a struggle, as I remember, and I got some bars missing measures, so there you have it... Still, he was a genius!!! Love his music! So In Love.mp3
  9. Sounds like a regular Marketing guy.... Hey, it's catchy, what can I say? BTW, thanks again for your advice. I feel like I'm rediscovering the piano, surprising myself along the way... I'm working on a song standard I like as an exercise, but I'm enjoying my new "freedom". Not to badmouth the rhythm, because I KNOW it's a tool for composing (for me), but I can really hear the annoying noises on some of my recordings. I also learned a LOT while working with the rhythm, so no regrets.
  10. Boy, you chose a hard one! Very nicely done! Gershwin is one of my favorites, along with Porter and so many others... Congratulations!
  11. I couldn't open it with Media Player and I got no sound playing it with VLC player.... I tried Chrome browser too... ----------------------- It's a problem with my PC... I've lost my audio, so I'll try it on my tablet later.
  12. How nice! I love the layering... it sounds totally professional. Soothing sounds.
  13. That's so true!!! Right now I get (through my cable) regular networks, many channels, HBO, etc. But then I also subscribed to Netflix, and I get Amazon Prime Video, and then again I subscribed to Curiosity Stream, which has a lot of documentaries on all sorts of topics. It's overwhelming!!! I'm sure there will be significant changes over the next 5 years to reshape the industry (if we don't blow ourselves up before). BTW, thanks for the suggestions on playing "unplugged"... I can see how the rhythm can sound annoying in some songs. I think it works on some, but not on many others. There may be adjustments I could make, now that I know better the rhythm editor, but I haven't tried it yet. Either way, I think it is a great TOOL for me to come up with melodies, but I'm going to try to return to just plain piano. It may be a struggle...
  14. I liked InspiredMelodies very much, but I only sampled a couple of songs besides Sergey's... There's a lot of talent out there!
  15. True, the MELODY I can do, and I enjoy arranging songs that I like, interpreted in my own way, which may not be the "standard". But what I could never do are the arrangements in the file I uploaded... This group is soooo good, and their arrangements are fantastic (my opinion).
  16. Hey, that was nice!!! 👍 See, you "bang" the left hand and I overdo the arpeggios... We have to learn to mix the two! I guess... Also, you're now introducing more chords, which is nice... I liked the deer.
  17. You know, I was listening last night to some of my songs, in particular paying attention to your comments on the rhythm. I agree that it can be distracting, but I think that using the rhythm editor, which I know how to use only superficially, I could filter out some of the (specially) annoying drums... I have to work on that. Thanks for the comments, BTW. I completely agree that using the accompaniment changes the song's mood and stuff... I tried to find the rhythm available on the keyboard that "best fits" what I had in mind, but I agree that it's a compromise at best. I have to digest all of that... But one thing... My "objective" in all of this is really very inconsequential... I just wanted to preserve all that work that I did years ago, and also to regain my piano chops, now that I'm retired and plenty of time on my hands. I love what I do, but I have no "ulterior" motive (meaning $$$), but I want to show my songs in the best way I can. I think that the accompaniment makes the song richer.... Maybe eliminate the distracting drums, I don't know, I have to explore.. Here's a song from Pink Martini that I listened to last night. It has all the melodic lines and chord changes that are part of ME; that's the stuff I grew up with. But the arrangement is so complex and beautiful that I could never even try... Lo Dudo.wma
  18. Rachmaninoff's Second Concerto is my "ultimate"... I'm not an expert by any means on classical composers, since I didn't suffer through the awful childhood piano lessons (my sympathy). But I know what I like, and over the years I've developed a liking for many of them, besides the Russians. I wonder if you've ever heard of Louis Gottschalk... I discovered him some years ago. His music is very close to Caribbean rhythms and melodies and I think he's great. He's an American from Louisiana in the late 1800s, I think. Last night I was listening to something more contemporary, but it's a group I also like a lot for their eclectic world music and their incredibly beautiful arrangements: Pink Martini.
  19. Very beautiful and beautifully played. As you may imagine, I'm partial to the Romantics... I also love the deep sound of the keyboard...
  20. Oh, no, no way..... I just get transported somewhere in the cosmos when I hear her play... Not all songs, of course, but so many of them... What I like about her most is her command of the chords... she just seems to "float" from key to key to key in a very unique way. I'm sorry, I'm not worthy! 😮 BTW, I added a couple more files to the archive... Evening.mp3 Gitana.mp3 El Final.mp3
  21. Well, thanks a lot! I'm very self-critical, and I hate all the arpeggios that I use (unconsciously) and they get boring to me. The accompaniment gives me freedom (as I see it) to at least explore with the right hand and adjusting the harmonies with the left chords... I don't know, it just worked for me. When I listen to someone like Beegie Adair play the piano, THAT'S how I would LOVE to play, but never will... She's just extraordinary (for my ears). I will try harder to take your advice, because you are right, that playing solo is important, and I think I'm getting better (a bit) in my techniques.
