  1. When I measure an octave on my CT-S1, it is 162 to 163 mm depending on the octave. The statement that a full size octave = exactly 165 mm is incorrect. There is some acceptable variation from one manufacturer to the next. If you go to two different grand pianos, you will find some variation too. 2 or 3 mm per octave should not cause frequent mistakes. I think that the texture on the keys, the height and depth of the keys, and the key action are all much more likely to impact the number of mistakes compared to a very small difference in width. Lots of information on this topic available here: https://www.mrpianotoday.com/are-piano-keys-same-size/
  2. Yes, it definitely would work. You need a USB / MIDI host interface like this one on eBay: https://www.ebay.com/itm/175678859203?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=CJh-X4dyQPa&sssrc=2047675&ssuid=E6kGuE4VQKG&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY I love the key action on the CT-S1 and use it primarily as a MIDI controller.
  3. Yes. Press and hold the "Function" button and press the lowest F# to turn on/off "local control." This will shut off the internal sounds from playing. I LOVE using the CT-S1 as a MIDI controller (I use my iPad as a sound source). The key action is terrific (and quiet). I like having the built-in speakers for situations when I don't need lots of volume (practicing, playing with a few friends, etc.). It looks good (available in 3 different colors). It isn't heavy. It is inexpensive.
  4. I think this is the official document (attached). I didn't realize that the CT-S1 supported General MIDI sounds too - very cool! CTS1_MIDI_EN.pdf
  5. Thanks for posting this - very helpful!
  6. Is there any way to adjust the tempo of the VL-Tone rhythms? I tried using the same procedure for adjusting the metronome tempo but I don't think it works for the rhythms.
  7. I just purchased my CT-S1 last week and want to know if anyone has some recommended layered tones that they find useful/interesting. What two tones do you layer? Do you adjust the volume of either tone? Do you transpose the octave of either tone? Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
  8. I've also had this problem and just dropped off my keyboard for service (still under warranty). It happens when I have the volume turned up very high and have been playing for 90 minutes or longer. I've been able to replicate the problem and record it on my phone. I really hope it can be fixed because it had affected 2 live gigs so far. Perhaps some internal component is overheating (just a guess).
  9. Hi Rich. I think you would need a microphone pre-amplifier. A mic level is much lower than a line level. $80 and up.
