  1. Hi Is it possible to do pitch bend using a pedal instead of the wheel (basically assign pitch bend functionality to a pedela - so I can use it without using up a hand)? Thanks
  2. Sorry to dig up an old post - but did anyone (Brad ?) have any luck doing this ?
  3. HI Thank you so much for your help. I am struggling with an issue on the MZX though. The Casio CKF Rhythm Conversion Guide v1.0.2 shows how to convert MIDI to CKF (and then to AC7) - I am trying that - but am trying to jump one step ahead. The MZX-500 allows direct import of an SMF file into a User Rhythm - thereby bypassing (?) the CKF step ? If that is the case- what should the format of the MIDI file be (how many measures in what order ?) I don't think the list on page24 of above pdf will work because the MZX500 has 2 intros and 2 ends but 4 variations and 4 fills. Is there anyway you could post a MIDI file that I can use to study and paly with ? I am really struggling with this and it will really help me if you can please post a simple MIDI file - just enough to show me the structure. Sorry to keep begging for help.
  4. Thank you so much for replying, I have downloaded the pdf and will play with it.
  5. Hi I want to try my hand at converting creating a rhythm from a MIDI file. I have a huge favor to ask - can anyone please upload a sample MIDI file that I can use for this - so I can see what kind of (MIDI) file is required and also use it to play around to create the rhythm ? Sincerely
  6. As always - you nailed it. Thanks Brad I was creating an illegal condition (extended duration) - so the MZ would not save it - when I reduced the duration - it works. Which made me realize that I don't understand the B & T columns very well. If I play (start) a note at say Beat 1, Tick 0 and give it a duration of B002 - does this mean : 1) The note will sound for 2 more beats (end at Beat 3 Tick 0) or 2) Will it stop sounding as soon as Beat 2 begins (end at Beat 2 Tick 0) ? Also (so sorry to ask so many questions - I truly appreciate your help) - I am puzzled by something . Is it true that only one note (in the same event list) can be "active" at a time ? I am trying to simulate a guitar strum - where some of the strings would continue sounding - as I strum downwards for example in the case of a downstroke open C chord - my "E" string would sound - even as I hit the other strings (one sound does not stop when other sounds begin - I hope I explained that clearly) 1) So in my example, I am trying to save an event pattern for a (3/4) rhythm I am creating - in - say Chord 1 2) My first note - say C3 starts at M1B1T0 - What I discovered is that the duration that can be assigned to this note - depends on when the (start) time of the next note (say E3) on this event list 3) If E3 starts at M1B3T0, then I can set the duration of C3 as high as B002T00 - but If E3 starts at M1B2T0, then the duration of C3 can only go as high as B001T00 (or the MZ will not save) 4) Actually I want my first note to sound for the entire duration of that measure (or even longer) 5) I think I discovered a way to cheat the system (but I am not sure - - first make the second note start at B3 - and assign a longer duration to the first note - then switch the start for the second note from B3 t B2 - and save (the longer duration for the first note will be saved. - also - if I change the start time of the second note to match the first - then I can have both be active at the same time (which contradicts the question I asked)
  7. Hi This is driving me nuts - tried all day and couldn't figure out what I was doing wrong. I am trying to make a new rhythm - and for that I am first playing some keys and then trying to change things in the event editor. For example - I can play the C3 note and the measure, tick, event, and velocity get recorded (as I play) and I can easily change them later in Event Editor However when I try and change the note duration (last two columns) - my new settings do not get saved. For example if I scroll down to that line, select the duration (it turns red) and change it from B001 to B002 and then exit the event editor - if I go back into the editor - it shows as B001 again - not B002. What am I doing wrong ? Apologies in advance if this is a dumb question. Thanks
  8. Thank you Brad...as always
  9. Hi Can someone please clarify one issue re Breakpoint in Pattern Setting for Rhythms. (sorry of this is a dumb question) The explanation in the manual (EN-30) states : This parameter specified a note key, from C to B, as the point at which Auto Accompaniment bass and chord notes drop one octave For example, when F is specified as the break point, a C major chord recorded as C3E3G3 (CEG) becomes D3F#3A3 (DF#A raised one note each) when D is fingered on the chord keyboard, E3G#3B3 (EG#B raised one note each) when E is fingered, and F2A2C3 (FAC dropped one octave) when F is fingered I am not sure what they mean by "is fingered" - I tried this with the break point set at C - but I could not discern any change in the sound (inversion) as I went up and down the scale.
  10. Thank you very much Brad. I will try and make some strumming patterns. The ones you posted sound really great - any chance of posting (AC7 format) them so I can use them as a guide ? Thanks
  11. HI Need some help with guitar strumming sounds please. Page 17 onwards of Web_MZX500APPEND-131-WL-1B_EN.pdf shows that if you select certain tones (like harmonics guitar KVT ) - and if you hit notes C7 onwards - you can get a strumming sound. I tried this - I do hear some kind of a muted strumming sound akin to playing the guitar with "deadened" strings - how can I get the strumming effect without the strings sounding muted ? - Basically sound as if I am strumming some chords on a guitar ? Thanks
  12. Can some one please help me and explain how to edit multiple events in the event editor ? I followed the manual - but it is not working. Suppose I have 10 events in a Phrase and I want to set the volume column for ALL to a common value - instead of doing it one by one for each event (tedious) I'd like to select all events - and then modify the values once and see it applied to all events. I followed the manual instructions (see below) - : 1) Use operation button to select first event (I assume this means the up/down pointing triangles) 2) Then Touch "Select" 3) Use operations button to high light the other events 4) Touch Select This makes a whole bunch of rows show up in black as the manual shows as well - but then if I try to change any of the parameter - it applies that change only to one row - not the entire selection. What am I doing wrong ? Thanks
  13. @Brad Saucier This worked great !! Thank you Thank you thank you !!!!!!! You Sir are the greatest !!
