  1. Thanks for the replies. I got it all figured out and have made the swap work.
  2. I gig with a Privia PX-5S and have a PX-560 for home use. Both are long out of warranty. I was having some trouble with the double key strikes sounds on the PX-5S so I took the keyboard out of the PX-560 and put it in the PX-5S. It worked beautifully and I have gigged with it for the past few weeks. Success!? But, I managed to damage the ribbon cable on the PX-560 and had to order a new one. It arrived yesterday and so I connect the PX-5S keyboard to the main board on the PX-560. I get no sound when playing the keys. The speakers work when I start a drum track. Should these keyboards be interchangeable or not?
  3. Thanks"T"! Do you have a link to the PX-5S service manual or the part #? All I can find is the Users Manual.
  4. While fixing a sticky key I damaged the ribbon cable that connects the keyboard the other electronics on my PX-5s. I'm trying find a replacement ribbon cable. My only option to order it that I have found is through a company in Taiwan. There is a long shipping delay plus I hesitate to give credit card info. Does anyone know another electronics distributor that carries this type of cable? The cable is marked TUNG HING E118147 AWM 2896 80C 30V VW-1.
  5. I am having trouble with one Bb key. When played I get a a 2nd key strike sound. The 2nd sound is a split second after the first and at a much higher volume. I also sometimes get a staccato (short sound) on the same key even when the key is held down. I have had the unit apart. removed keys, and cleaned the area. I also have tried to determine if the problem is mechanical or electronic by switching out the Bb (black key) with another and using a different contact strip. I get the same result. The next steps are probably beyond my pay grade. Any ideas?
  6. Thanks a bunch everybody! I finally got everything working with your help. I was running out of hair to pull out. 😀
  7. I'm working with midi files in Sonar X3 Studio and triggering sounds on my PX-560M. I have a M-Audio M-track connected to my PC via USB. With a midi cable I connected from the midi out on the M-Track to the midi in my PX-560M. When I load midi files into Sonar and press play all correct sounds on the PX-560M start playing except for the drums. All I get is a piano sound. I haven't found a way to change to the correct program to trigger PX-560M drum sounds from Sonar. I like the standard set on the 560. Instrument Definition files can be loaded into Sonar and that may correct everything. I can't find the Instrument Definition File for the PX-560M in the Sonar(Cakewalk) database. Cakewalk was acquired by Bandlab in 2018. I was routed to Bandlab.com but that site is no help. Does anyone know where I can get the Definition File for the PX-560M? Any other solutions?
  8. I'm looking for a solution or software update to make the drum pattern phrases more user friendly. I've had my PX-5s for a little over a week now. I own both a PX-330 and PX-350. I'm gigging with the 350 mostly solo, but a few band gigs now and then. Both keyboards have pretty good set ups for playing with drum patterns allowing for intros, A-B patterns and endings and switching patterns or setups on the fly. After several attemps to import drum patterns from the 350 to the 5s I've given up. The 350 does not send drum patterns out via midi and the files saved via usb can't be converted to midi. I asked casio if the PX-350 drum patterns were available as midi files. It would be nice, but no such luck. I have created some patterns and converted some midi patterrns to phases for the PX-5s with good results. I'll post for download when I get a bunch. The only thing that isn't working for me on the PX-5s that when you change one drum pattern phrase on zone 1 to another in a stage setting the newly chosen phrase starts immediately. So switching phrases (drum patterns) is not easily done in tempo. On the PX-350 the drum pattern completes the measure before going to the newly selected pattern. Can this be done on th PX-5s? Am I missing something? In one post a user triggers a phrase switch with a pedal but has to do it exactly on the downbeat. Song mode is one solution, but then you are locked into a fixed number of repeats. I am into playing and improvising sometimes with a guitarist or horn player and don't want to be tied to a fix arrangement. In a perfect world you could set up several phases in sequence and even have and ending phrase with the loop turned off. That would be beautiful.
