  1. Hi Brad, been through all that . This is the second keyboard after the first one was eventually replaced under warranty. I know it sounds like a sob story ,however, it has happened and I'm sure it will happen again. I would like to know if with the new model, changes have been made to the electronics and software controlling the keyboard? I have had a career of 55 years owning a great variety of keyboards,Hammond, Hohner Pianet, Yamaha, Roland, Korg, Arturia, Fatar, Casio PX-3, PX-5S and now PX-560M and PX-S3000. In that time, until now, I have never had a keyboard failure whilst playing. My Roland RD-300SX did require new contacts due to corrosion, which I replaced myself. I hope I stimulate others to report these glitches although given there is a new model I don't expect any thing can be done.
  2. Hi All, just read post from Bobbo , another example of an electronic gliche within the operating system .
  3. Hi Brad and Joe, this is not related to my fiddling , the device I put on the knobs is purely mechanical and can be removed easily. The recent problem with this new keyboard also occurred , at home, before the rotary control unit was added. The freeze has occurred randomly each time on rapid changes of registration . I have adjusted the touch screen sensitivity to minimum to see is that changes anything. Thanks for your input it is appreciated. I reiterate that this is an electronic problem , again, why do we have a "new" model released?
  4. Hi All, I sound like a broken record, however, yesterday at a jazz gig whilst backing a female vocalist my keyboard froze as I was changing registrations from soloing to comping. It was dead for 16 bars until I turned it off and on again . No further problems that gig. I have read all the previous posts with suggestions about possible causes for failure. I do not believe it is a power issue as it has happened at many different locations. I still believe that the there is a fault with either software or the hardware chips so that the keyboard does not handle the processing demand and either freezes or turns off. I have noted many other users complaining of "strange" states 8th May 2019, 12,16,27,31, August 2020. I am concerned that a "new" model is now out, the PX-S3100 after only 2 years with what appears to be very little external change. Has Casio fixed the problems that I am experiencing by releasing a new model with redesigned innards. I also own a PX-560M , released in 2015 with no new models for this keyboard. My PX-560M has always been fine. I find the PX-560M is great for controller and midi functions. The PX-S3000 has great sounds and a terrific action but lacks many refinements that a giging musician needs eg, dedicated transpose button, rotary control via a pedal and of paramount importance , reliability. If Casio could guarantee that the new PX-S3100 would not freeze up or turn off or do strange things I would buy one immediately. You may ask why not use PX-560M? Well the action of the PX-S3000 suits me best playing jazz and the piano sounds can be tweaked to a great degree.
  5. Hi All, worked perfectly on the gig.....now I need a backer to refine the idea.
  6. Hi All, I'm trying again with rotary controller video, hope it works. MVI_8904.mov
  7. Hi All, 2 photos attached. I know it looks dodgy but all parts can be removed with no damage to the knobs. The black wire clip with the string attached can be taken off when going to a gig.I don't use the knobs for anything but Leslie effect therefore I can leave the apparatus set up. The wire from K2 is just to stop K1 from being turned to far by the rubber band. If anyone can improve on this please do.....I'm happy, it works well. Gig tomorrow if not locked down by covid here in NSW ..Oz Will try another movie later to show how it works...was a damaged upload as it won't load on my mac now.
  8. Hi , I'll try my Panasonic digital camera and see if that will work.
  9. Hi Joeyman123, the file extension is .mov , it's a quicktime movie recorded on my ipad pro, loads fine on my mac from the forum site. I'm not sure what format to post it in for you to see the "great invention"...shep
  10. Hi All, my idea for a rotary switch/ pedal works. Now to refine the idea and apply for a patent (joke!). .....shep
  11. Hi kybdsammer,my new PX-S3000 keyboard has only failed once and as I said in a PX-560M post ( my PX-560M has failed once), I think the CPU gets overloaded if you manage to exceed the processing power and then the thing shuts down. I wonder if Casio uses the same computer chip? I also note that another user some time ago had a similar problem. I use both keyboard regularly but for different gigs depending on the situation.

    Frozen screen

I agree with Jokeyman123. My PX560 has done the same thing once , however, my PX-s3000 , did it repeatedly until Casio replaced the keyboard. I think it is a function of the CPU , possibly in both models, becoming overloaded and freezing or turning off.
  13. Hi , I have a Bose L1 and the JBL eon compact. Both amps make the PX-s3000 sound great. The Bose is much more powerful , however, the JBL is fine as a small amp especially since you can use is from its inbuilt battery. I also have 2 Behringer 1000W powered speakers I use for big band shows, when I like to run stereo.
  14. Hi all, in split mode I connect the 560M via midi to my Roland BK-7M. Selecting lower 1 sends a signal to the module , however, nothing happens when lower 2 is selected and lower 1 is off. I am stumped and need help. I have the midi out from the 560M to midi in on the BK-7M. The reason for wanting this is to give me variation in the left hand when using the backing module eg lower 1 piano or lower 2 guitar for comping. I previously owned a 5S which had greater midi control, but I prefer the 560M for piano sounds and action.
  15. Hi Bobbo, "froze" means loss of all function i.e no buttons would work , no sound, then after a few seconds it turned off completely. Your problem sounds, excuse the pun, different, possibly as Jokeyman123 says an electrical anomaly? Good luck.
  16. Thanks members for replies. This is a brand new unit , I don't use batteries. At the time I was tweaking the split point and it just froze. With my previous keyboard it died many times in a variety of situations. I will try some of your suggestions and hopefully it won't happen again.
  17. Hi Brad, thanks for the reply. No to all of your questions. The keyboard and power supply were all brand new. The power supply downunder in NSW, Australia is 230V 50 Hertz but this shouldn't make any difference. The previous faults occurred in various locations including may own home. Yesterday I played in a large sports club with other musicians but I was on a separate circuit. Maybe we will get some feedback from other members of the forum.
  18. Hi All, after months of complaining regarding the intermittent failure of my first PX-S3000 keyboard I received a new replacement on 03/11/2020. I use it regularly and yesterday at a gig I was between sets and changing registration settings. The keyboard froze again then turned off! On start up it was OK. This is akin to a midi panic button whereby I think that when the CPU is "confused" the keyboard turns off to reset? Can lightning strike twice, it seems so. I have had electronic keyboards for 50 years. This is the best keyboard I've ever had for my requirements , however, this failure problem is frustrating to say the least. Surely I'm not the only one in the world with this occurrence. I'd love to hear from other users who have experienced this failure. My biggest worry is that it will fail when I'm in concert backing a vocalist, which I do on a regular basis. I also have a PX560M which I also use nearly every day ( mainly for solo work) and have not had a single problem .
  19. Thanks Chandler, I imagine the change would be seamless and I will give your idea a go. I did realise that "Casio Key" was referring to a different model but was interested to see what he had done....
  20. Hi , thanks for reply, which internal plate did you modify?
  21. Hi All ,it is very frustrating that the PX-s3000 doesn't have a dedicated foot switch for rotary on/off. Has anyone got a simple solution? I have been trying to rig up a pulley system using rubber bands to turn the knob one way or the other using the knee. The idea works but is a little unpredictable. I would love Casio to include an update so that an expression pedal can control the rotary on/off! Am I dreaming?
  22. Hi All, wonderful news, my keyboard PX-S3000 has has been replaced with a brand new one which hopefully behaves. Thanks to all those members who contributed.
  23. Hi, I received a dust cover with my PX-S3000 also in Australia...also bought the gig bag which is fantastic. Can load-in in one go with keyboard on my back and 2 x 12" amped speakers and sundry gear on a trolley.....well worth the $$$$
  24. Sad news , factory reset didn't work. Playing with band yesterday , keyboard failed again. Band members can vouch for me but I didn't have time to film the freeze before it turned off. Notified dealer, given Mike Marin's advice, and I await the dealer's response. Have a jazz gig Saturday fingers crossed!
  25. Thanks Glen, I did a complete reset and haven't had a problem since although I'm not holding my breath. Improvements I'd like to see are a quicker way to transpose and pedal control over the Leslie effect. .....Glen ( definitely one n I'm not greedy)
