  1. hello, have you tried to use the expression pedal midi control, to use with the external module , does it transmit ?? thks
  2. Hello all I use a lot of vst's , will the expression pedal transmit midi cc expression on the chosen midi channel, the midi implementation chart says x but im not so sure as the pedal is programable. For Mike M, could you try this out as iwant to trade my px350 asap thks
  3. hello again Having spent more time here, i can now confirm the 350 DOES work with usb midi to midi, AND din midi from the px350 into USB using a bulk standared cheap midi interface ( cable with usb on end and din midi In and OUT at the other.) see http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/MIDI-to-USB-Interface-Cable-Music-Keyboard-Adapter-Converter-Laptop-Piano-Organ-/400892455746?hash=item5d570d6b42 If you connect the din midi out cable to pxmidi in, and the din midi in cable end to the px midi out, then connect the other end USB to your external kit ie computer or module then ensure you set the buffer to a value of 1024 or higher it works first time. If the buffer is set below 1024 eg 512 or 256 then it fails.
  4. hello, i have tried this cable conversion and got sounds from external sources but it is very very latent and unusable. Connect midi to midi it ok. If you use MIDI-0X u can test the midi in out data.
  5. Maybe all u guys can help me. The midi user manual for the px350 says on page 13 para 8.7 that Expression can be transmitted when Accomp midi out is in the ON postion. This I understand, but which controller on the px350 do u use to manage it? the px350 has no expression pedal input jack? I would really love to use a pedal to control expression volume when I am connected to my vst midi software. Currently I can only control volume cc7 using the layer balance + - switch, ( page 12 para 8.5 ) but that is not the same as an expression pedal would be.
  6. hi Jokeyman, did you post the dismantle instructions anywhere for the px350, I can only see the close up pics of keys which I have trouble understanding the positions u are in. Would u consider posting a link on u tube or somewhere with the full instructions ( if you made them ) or alternatively to private e mail addresses? thks
  7. hi all, this seems hellish, really the px350 is a piano, to be played, whilst it may have track recording it is not a workstation, nor has the price of one. I would prefer if casio would cut all this out and make a first class keybed and sound samples with editing. Those who want to record can use external equipment via midi.
  8. Hi all, especially Jokeyman, In UK casio px350 is covered by 3 years warranty , if the key noise is clanky wouldn't you just refer it to Casio service and get them to fix it? The noise should have shown itself by then ?
  9. Yeh buddy, youre correct, the whole 96 are dumped into a file, so you have to be very clever with your file system, re-naming etc, because if you start creating a few set ups you have to remember where they are. Just for info, our recent conversation about the cc7 volume control using layer + - button, I have got cc7 working using the sustain pedal, In my vst software ( UVI ) I can assign cc7 to any controller, so I thought I would try the pedal, and it works. So guess what, im gonna try an expression pedal in the jack and see if it will do the same, if so then voila hey presto!!
  10. Page E49 right hand column states "All registration data 24 banks x 4 areas is saved in a single file" I interpreted this as meaning the complete 96 files would be saved in one file. So far I can only save one registration at a time, Any clarification would be welcomed
  11. thks Scott, I have an old patch commander keypad, ill see if I can get a control cc7 sent on channel 3 which is the split channel
  12. Im sure I read somewhere that with a combination of button presses u can change the volume of the split part when selecting the voice.? This is not in the manual. For Mike Martin, Mike did you append a note about this please?
  13. Hi all Can someone put me right here, the midi chart says cc7 can be transmitted, but which controller does it use? does it automatically map to the master volume control ? Obviously we match the midi channels on upper, layer or split. thks
  14. How do you control volume (transmit) on a connected device, I have UVI vst software and I can change volume of the external vst on a wk7600 using drawbar slider, but how do you do it on the px350?? thks
  15. Interesting, but here is a teaser, how do you change the volume in part 3 the split voice? If u cannot change it then which volume does it follow ie, upper 1 or upper 2 in the case of a layer for the right hand keys
  16. I hope you are not too disappointed with expected result from this, the wk7600 is very limited as to being a midi controller ( which it is not ) I am using vst's with my lap top thru the wk7600 usb port, I tried the sterio headphone out from laptop into audio in wk7600 and the vst will play thru the speakers, but sound is mediocre so I bought some Alesis 520 usb monitors which have an audio interface built in, this is better. You have to download the ASIO driver from the web to your laptop because this is the only low latency driver that is easlly obtained free and it works well and has virtually eliminated any latency that is around from the standard MS driver. The wk7600 as a controller will not control parameters in your vst software other than cc7 volume and for that to work the wk7600 has to be in drawbar mode. The program changes work in GM mode but the map is too complicated. The wk7600 can work with an external sequencer but only good results from perfect set up beforehand, as I said it is not a controller. The wk7600 is what it is, a low priced learning instrument, rather cheaply made but competes with low end Yamaha's
  17. its a disappointment, layers and splits need to be changed in real time, not messy mixers or set up registrations. If id have done proper research I would not have bought the wk7600
  18. also. the wk 7600 will only work as a midi transmit controller data when in drawbar mode it allows certain cc nos to work with the sliders.
  19. I would not rely on the 350 as a controller, its a simple keyboard with predetimined mapping Like the wk7600 series, the program change messages from voice button selection go all over the place except for the gm mode
  20. hello all Having worked in Japan and China believe me Casio will engineer whatever they like on a physical size basis. 73 keys is stupid, 76 key good for folk with limited home space. What is more useful is to forget all the sequencer stuff and just make a players piano, keep the zones, layers splits etc but cut out all the nerdy crap for which 95% of all buyers don't use, or try to use and then think oh well id better concentrate on playing not fiddling with buttons. Also a better construction in metal (aluminium ) , provision of fitting a music rest, ( see Kawai mp series ) limit the total weight to 17kg max
  21. just ps to above, when in normal voice mode you cannot control external volume thru midi, just the program change message for the midi channel no's
  22. Hello Jokeyman Some midi data cannot be transmitted by wk7600, and some data maybe not accepted by the px350 ( I don't have a px ) As u know the wk is only a simple keyboard really. Concerning the midi channel volume controls, this can only be done with the sliders when the wk is in drawbar mode ( as far as I have tested ) and utilises the right hand slider "master". If you are in normal voice modes the layer and split buttons set up their own midi channel, ie, the layered voice is channel 2 and the split voice is channel 3 so provided you have selected any of these choices you can layer and split the keyboard to transmit midi data to external sound modules or another synth etc, You must then set the external module to receive data on the same channels to allow you to hear the external voicing whilst playing the wk. There is a function in the wk menu that will allow u to turn wk internal voices off "local control on / off ) so then you just hear the external map.
  23. HELLO ALL I MUST correct all the conversations concerning midi data control transmission on wk7600 I am running vst's from UVI host via usb midi and usb into an audio interface. At first I could not control volume for the vst data using the keyboard so I had to keep altering the levels either in the comp program or direct with the monitors This is no good for realtime players, so guess what I decided to read the midi implementation data downloaded from casio web site. This clearly states that volume control transmission is available by using control no 7 ( preset in wk7600) and USING THE DRAWBAR SLIDERS. SO I put the wk76 in drawbar mode and then checked my vst software which allows me to attach controllers ( sliders, knobs etc) to midi data control numbers. HURRAH,SUCCESS, ONLY IN DRAWBAR MODE DOES THIS WORK, the sliders become full of midi control data, and the master slider is used to control volume control no 7, ie just like a midi channel assignment, the silder is attached to control 7 msb volume. I now can control volume thru external monitors using vst plug in patches This immense because it opens up the keyboard completely, I have all the patches from dx7 ( Whitney Houston ep ) SY85's tx7's playing in realtime on my wk7600 ( strings are THE BEST EVER from sy85 ) and for Xmas carols this time of year its just great. The other sliders normally used for flute footage in drawbar mode also affect other controller parameters, filters etc. All I can say is READ THE DATA MANUALS AND KEEP TRYING====
  24. Hi all, im sure im not alone in this, is there a way to pedal volume and apply some kind of aftertouch directly or thru midi
  25. yeh thks for yourinput. the wk7600 will control volume when connected directly to external monitor amps using its own L and R outputs and thankfully it leaves its own built in speakers on. As you say I cannot control the volume from my vst's from the wk7600, only thing I do is turn the volume to max in the lap top and then use the volume control on the monitor. It has some degree of volume control however by selecting the key touch to no1 or 2 and then varying your finger action when playing.
