  1. So I am happy to report that Nord has seemed to address this in a more recent firmware update. I can now switch the high res setting back on the PX-5S with no problems like I had before. It is good too know that Clavia has finally caught up with Casio and enabled the Stage 3 to process this high res velocity.
  2. Thanks Brad. That sounds like it could be the issue. I am wondering whether the new firmware for the Nord created the issue on the receiving end of the Midi signal. I never had this issue before the recent update of the Stage 3. I would hope that Nord would address this down the road since it sounds like the more detailed measure of velocity transmitted would be very desirable. I suppose in the interim I could just turn the high res out off when using the phase shifter or other mod effects on Nord EP sounds since that is the only time I am having the issue. That way I have the more detailed velocity data on piano sounds that I don't use the phase shifter on. Of course, the other solution would be to use some of the outstanding EPs in the Privia when I want to have a EP phase shifter type sound
  3. I recently updated the firmware on my PX-5S. While controlling an electric piano sound on my Nord Stage 3 from the Privia I noticed a loud clicking sound when the Nord’s phase shifter was engaged. Also the LED lights in the Nord’s effect section cycled through the piano, synth and organ modules whenever I played it from the Privia. After a lot of trouble shooting, the only way I could fix the problem was by turning the MIDI high reso out setting off in the System Settings. Can somebody explain what this setting is designed to do when using the Privia as a controller and help me understand why the Privia seems to be sending this type of MIDI message to the Nord. I have been using my Privia to control various Nords for almost a decade and never had this problem. I did also recently update the firmware in the Nord so maybe the issue is there but it only occurs when I control it from the Privia. Thanks.

You can control the filter cutoff for the synth brass sound at the bottom as needed throughout. The top part is for the melody in the middle and riffs throughout.

I did this a while ago while for the Edgar Winter classic after reading an article in Keyboard Magazine called "The Art of Synth Soloing: Edgar Winter's Frankenstein Revisted. The bottom part of the stage setting is for the middle solo which has a trill effect built in. The second sound is what I used for the melody lead. I was never really that satisfied with it. On D6 is the dramatic synth sound after the solo. I use S1 to emulate the ping pong effect leading to the drums coming back in. I am by no means an advance programmer and would love if the more experienced members could improve on this stage setting if possible.
  6. I did this a while ago when I was playing the song live. I have never uploaded sounds to the forum before. Please let me know whether or not in comes through. Slider 1 controls the cutoff frequency of the brass which changes throughout the song. The top part is for the middle melody and short lines. Hope it helps. Tears4Fears.ZPF
  7. The craziest thing. I just tried again and really jacked up the volume and manipulated the controllers and I hear the key click now. Subtle like you said. Since I use the Nord for organ sounds having the key click in there at a low volume is not necessarily a bad thing and may be a good alternative work around. In a way it is like egw's "dummy tone" idea above. Only the dummy tone could be useful when I am playing only organ on the Nord. It would be great if they could address this in a firmware update if feasible. It would make using the PX as a slave live a lot more straight forward without the need for workarounds. I used to do this all the time when my bottom keyboard was a Fantom. Just turn off the part as part of a Roland Performance. Thanks again for your insight.
  8. Yes. I just double checked. I thought it might be an element like key click so I also tried manipulating all controllers and still can't generate any sound. I also tried enabling the zone on the PX-5S and turning off Zone 1 and still don't hear anything.
  9. The suggestions on making this work have been helpful. Specifically, I am using a Nord Electro 2 as a master to trigger the PX-5S as a slave. Sometimes I want to just play the Electro without triggering the PX-5S. I recently updated the firmware to the most current. One time when I powered up the rig I did not make the change to the mixer section discussed above and was going through the stage setups. On 7-6 5Draw Organ something interesting happened. When the Nord transmitted on midi channel 2 it did not trigger any sound in the PX-5S. This particular stage setting has Z1 and Z2 enabled and the tone for Z2 shows Hex: U:050. If I edit and change the tone for Z2 than the Nord starts to trigger transmitting on Midi channel 2. This does not happen with any other stage setup. I was wondering if the more experienced programmers out there could dissect this stage setup and explain why the sound generator in the PX-5S doesn't appear to be receiving on channel 2. This is a desired result for me and I would love to understand why in this stage setup it is achieved. Thanks in advance.
  10. Thanks Choppin. What you suggest sounds similar to using a macro in Microsoft Word to set up a document. I will give it a try.
  11. Was this ever addressed? I am triggering the internal sounds in the Privia from a second keyboard. I turned off the part in the system settings so that I can play the second keyboard standalone without triggering the Privia's internal sound. It works great but I seem to loose the setting when I power down and have to make the change each time I repower up.
