  1. easiest to setup the stage settings next to each other... i orig filled my stage settings based on groups... X-1 were pianos, X-6 organs, etc. Then i needed to add some splits to play out, so now my 0-X and 2-X SSs are dedicated to live playing so i can quickly change in the middle of a song.
  2. OK, Peter, you baited the hook... what are you doing with the modwheel? are you programming it, and with what tweaks? or just using it a lot?
  3. unfortunately, there are many core sounds that aren't available for the XW... I've just picked the stock tones and layered them, modified the DSP, thrown in a background layer to give it some bite... there's just no way you'll get the tones that you can get from the filters and source files compared to like the PX-5S. That's the thing to get IF you want some killer stock keyboard sounds.
  4. so you rendered/exported your file in FLS as a 16bit 44.1kh wav file? did you try a mono file ?
  5. Nice... more powerful than the standard LayerRockPiano, so I'm replacing that with your rock piano. I watch what you are posting because I notice we are doing many similar songs... 60's and 70's keyboard classic hits... some of those I already have built for the XW-P1. I reserve most organ and analog synth perf's for the XW and use the piano-related SS's for the PX, since my XW sits over the PX. If anyone wants an XW patch, let me know cause I may have it.
  6. What is it you want to do with the wav file? Do you want to play over it, or use it as the source of a keyboard note? There are keyboards that are designed to use a wav file and play it using the keys and pitch shifting the tone over the keyboard... but not the XW-P1. The prob with doing this is that pitch shifting a tone stretches it beyond natural intonation when shifted more than a few notes. The DAW named Reason has a module that allows you to do this thru your keyboard, but it works best by loading tones or samples every few notes to keep the stretching to a minimum. I have a Korg microSampler keyboard that does that... and there's prob some apps for the iPad that does that also. if that is not what you want to do.... never mind.
  7. just cycle thru editing the value of the knob... i have some perfs set up with one knob for reverb, one for low eq, one for hi eq, and maybe a chorus knob... you can't do a lot with the CC value, but it does have a few 'maybe useful" values.
  8. i've had a PX since they started selling them and i notice no difference in the action that I can tell.
  9. thanks mike, altho the PX version is awsome, i did learn that the reason some dl'd perf's don't work is the fact that the supporting files may not load in the same user preset, so I need to link those up in the performance.
  10. Roland has some hot lead guitar patches... Get it Loud, Searing COSM, Punker, Hurting Guitar... and others on the Lucina Axe that can fool about anyone in a live situation. I haven't found anything close on the XW or in the downloads. Anyone want to try to build a great lead guitar on the XW that sounds great doing bendy strings and mod wheel vibrato? or maybe there's one out there that i missed?

I like it, but I toned the distortion down and it sounds close to the Deep Purple song Lazy intro when the organ starts it's amped distortion. Now I don't think you can use a slider or knob to control the amount of distortion?.. that would be great.

    HammondDrive

Yeah, baby! This is the one for Hammond rock driven music on the PX. The rotary is not bad, but hard to manage. Now I need to figure out how to run my PX thru the RT-20 with the organs on the XW-P1.
  13. This is better than the Epic Hex Synth I was using for that song... it is a little too intense playing the F5 chord on the riff and notes above C5, so I may tweak it a little.
  14. Yeah, I like it better than the Polysynth I was using for that song.
  15. either a Roland KC550 for small stuff or a Behringer 315D over a Peavey 118D for larger venues. I run the XW thru a Boss RT-20 and both XW and PX thru a Boss FV-50 volume pedal in mono to a mixer.

    PF_Pad

OK, I've had issues trying to load some perfs as well from others... Here's the tones that make up the perf and if they are not on your XW-P1, then maybe that is the issue... but I thought if these are all presets, you should not get an error. HexP34 Floy SoloPad StrP07 Wide Strings PnoP62 Tremolo Organ SynP37 DropLead Let me know if these are on your XW and you do or do not get an error msg... I'd like to figure out why we get file format errors... note that this is for the XW and NOT the PX-5S...i get those confused sometimes.
  17. much easier to record it in a DAW track, and even record the midi so you can fix the mistakes.
  18. my mind is failing me... if a performance file is uploaded to the download section, does it include everything, including a custom arp and tones/fx saved for that perf? I thought that it does. and when i play the song using this performance, i need to switch arps during the song, so I hold down the arp button and scroll to the next arp. Any better way of doing this?
  19. fyi, the best harmonica that i have used to date is one that i tweaked and uploaded in my perf file 'harp&org' . it's not great for fast riffs, but for some slower quarter to whole notes, it sounds pretty good to me. i loaded this on 1/22/15 and i use it for playing Tom Petty's song Mary Jane's Last Dance, cause the split organ sounds good for that song. There's only a small range (just over an octave) that it sounds realistic.
  20. 178 downloads

this is a performance with a nice harmonica on the left portion of the keyboard and an organ on the right... I use this for Tom Petty's Mary Jane song.

A poster asked about a Pink Floyd patch on Wish You Were Here. This is what I've been using for that type of PF pad sound for the some of their songs... it should work for that GmDmCm intro. I think these are 4 stock patches in the P1 that make up the performance.

  24. which sound in the song? there's the intro organ pad, then the minimoog intro solo. The pad was an EMS VCS 3, ARPSolina, and a Hammond organ in Gm Dm Cm. There's a DeepLdMM on this site that sounds close to the moog that u may be able to tweak to get that sound... i have a PF Pad that I will prob upload that I use for this type of p floyd pad sound.
  25. we played the believer song and i used wither the Vox patch on the PX or a modded Farfisa patch on the XW. I may also reduce the click of the Vox, but I thought it made it just sound 'retro'.
