  1. Program it. You can change almost every parameter live with the modwheel. And also with the Bend Down and Bend Up. Here is one of my tones: http://www.casiomusicforums.com/index.php?/files/file/877-funky-spiral/ And the things the mod and bend wheel modulate: http://postimg.org/image/yqt5fhy5b/ PS: I like to bend the sound up and simultaneously move the mod wheel up too. Then do the reverse.

  4. Oh yes, sorry my bad. I thought everybody saw this, since it was all over the net. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uMuEHbQNKgs There you go. Enjoy
  5. I would be completely happy if I would got a job like making coffee or bringing donuts for mr Martin. On the other hand, if I look at that unfortunate akai timbre wolf demo with that Dan guy, maybe I should try making some demos

    New XW-P1

Wellcome, Florent ! Hope you'll have fun with your P1 Feel free to ask any question about your instrument !
  8. Scott, yes that solved the problem, partially. I made a performance where the sequencer sends MIDI from one track to the Sledge. And changing the tone for that channel in mixer also changes the tone on Sledge. Which isn't a big problem since I turn off the tone on the Casio for that track and it is replaced by a Sledge tone. So, changing performances don't change the sledge patches anymore EXCEPT when I select my performance where that one channel sends MIDI, so it automatically changes the patch. It is a feature with clearly good intentions, since I can now memorize with the casio which sledge patches I used in different performances. Selecting a PCM tone 00, select a sledge patch 1, a PCM 32 tone select a sledge patch 33 and so on. The problem is that the PCM tones on Casio go from 00 to 99 or 100, but on the Sledge they go from 1 to 999. The first 100 patches on sledge are presets, and my patches are from 110+. Fortunatelly I can delete or overwrite the presets on the Sledge, so I can make my patches compatible with the Casio's performance and tone selection. I don't know if any of this makes sense I tried to explain the best I can Anyway thanks for the help guys !
  9. I connected my XW-P1 and my Sledge with a MIDI cable so the sequencer can play the Sledge. Everything is fine, except one thing: when I change tones or performances with the selection wheel or with the plus minus buttons, then it also changes the patches on the Slegde. The Sledge has the followinf MIDI parameters and current values: Channel: OMNI (it recieves MIDI from all channels) Local: ON (same as the local control on casio) VelCurve: 127 (irrelevant) Clock: Ext (it is synchronised to the casio's midi clock, and the casio is set to MASTER) Send Ctrl: OFF Receive Ctrl: OFF I also tweaked the casio's midi settings, but it is all the same. Or am I missing something ?
  10. Is it possible to ad a ramp wave to the DSP Wah's LFO, so it could behave like a mini envelope with only an ATTACK or DECAY phase (like in the Studiologic Sledge's LFO) ? I don't think this would put additional load on processor since you can already tweak the filter cutoff and the resonance REAL TIME using the two DSP knobs in Hex Layer. And please make the LFO Depth go into negative values to create a DECAY phase. Can this be done with a firmware ? It would be awesome.

  13. Wait what ? As far I know the sequencer can send separate MIDI on all channels, or am I wrong ?
  14. There are many great videos on Youtube, about the basics of sound synthesis. Unfortunately, the XW-P1 is not the greatest learning tool for those things due to poor hands on control. A little better solution is to use the PC editor software to edit the sounds, but it can get very intimidating (for synth newbies) due to large number of parameters. My advice is to try this: http://www.audiosauna.com/studio/ That is music program which gives you a virtual analog synthesizer. It is very simple, and it is excellent for learning sound synthesis and getting familiar with things like filters, amplifiers, envelopes, LFOs... And the solosynth from the XW-P1 works on the same principles as the synth in the link, only the P1 is way more complex than that.
  15. Turn off the KEY SHIFT button, it is on the far left side, near the sliders.
  16. I want to see a ton of knobs. Do them with dials like on the Behringer BCR2000, so when I load a new patch, I see what knob is on what value.
  17. Can you please show me a screenshot of the HexLayers in the data editor? I'm interested about all those parameters. Can I synchronise, for example layers 1,2 and 3, and then when I change the filter ADSR for layer 1, it changes the same thing simultaneously for layers 2 and 3 ? It can be done in the data editor for the XWs. Do the HexLayers have a global DETUNE like in the XW-P1 ? Knob 2 controlled it in the Tone mode.
  18. I'm thinking about buying a Privia PX-5S, primarily for the HexLayers and sound design, secondarily like a digital piano (for nostalgia). This keyboard is very powerful, but it suffers from the same thing like the XW-P1: poor control. You have to navigate through series of menus to change what you want. To counter this problem, there are some solutions like controlling it with external devices like an iPad or a midi controller like the behringer BCR2000. Probably the cheapest solution is the PC Editor (well, its free). What do you guys use for control? What are your experiences with those things ?
  19. That would require to transform the XW into a virtual synthesizer. I don't think Casio will do that. But there are programs which allows you to make your own personalized software modular synthesizers, so you can theoretically recreate the XW, and you can even ad some extras (like polyphony) .
  20. I don't want to repeat my self here, since I already left a comment on Facebook, but this method of combining saws and reverse saws gives the HexLayers another dimension. Yes, HexLayer seems as a dumbed down polyphonic synth, but you got 6 (!) "oscillators" (layers), and combining these kind of waves is truly fun and rewarding. My biggest surprise was when I accidentally got a square wave with those saws.
