  1. I have a tone, with the following characteristics: it has long release and decay for amp and total filter envelopes, with no sustain. When I play on my keyboard, slowly, lifting my fingers (non legato), and fast enough so the release envelope don't reach the zero while I already played a new key, I hear a sharp "pop" when pressing the next key. Filter cutoff is set to 0, resonance is around 80. I hear it regardless is it HPF, LPF or BPF. But when I set the cutoff to max, there is no pop. When I instead set the resonance to max, the pop is much louder, and it's loudness varies how fast I play, or in what moment I interrupt the release envelope. This is similar (or same) like when you load an empty tone in solosynth, and hear how those sine waves "pop". Then you adjust the attack for the amp, and the popping is no more. But in my case, no matter how I set the attack for the amps or filters, the pop is still there. Tried changing the portamento and legato ON/OFF, still the same. This is a constant problem I have with almost all of my solosynth tones. Please help. Edit: I uploaded the tone, so you can see what is wrong http://www.casiomusicforums.com/index.php?/files/file/679-effect-4/
  2. It seems to me that the total filter's resonance does not affect the local filter. Please confirm is this true. I was really hoping making some effects with multiple different filter sweeps for each osc, but without the resonance it behaves similarly like an amp envelope.
  3. I tweaked the gain from flat to -18db, but that only affects the total filter. I cannot make this individual filters to work. I set the envelope to max, no result. Interestingly, I also cannot find any factory solosynth tones which use separate filters for each oscillator. Edit: Ignore the upper text. I set the total cutoff filter to max, set the gain in osc filter to -18db, then tweaked the osc filt envelopes and they are kinda working, need more time on this. Still don't understand wholly how this actually works, and need to figure out the exact relation between the total filter and the osc filter. Thanks for the help !
  4. I understand how the Total filter works, but I see that there are separate filters and filter ADSR for every oscillator. I want to build a tone, where the four oscillators have different filter envelopes, I'm trying by tweaking various parameters, but no result. Only the total filter's ADSR is active. Help?
  5. I maybe mentioned this, but when I want more resonance in my HexLayer tones, select DSP, go to "Wah" effect, waveform set to NONE, and then I can manually adjust the cutoff and resonance with the DPS parameter sliders.
  6. Whenever you modify your tone with the 4 knobs, you must save your tone as a new one to keep the changes (it will be saved as a USER TONE). If you change your preset and don't save it, all changes are lost. Have you tried increasing the main volume with the volume knob which is under the power button? Or just tried hitting harder (faster) the keys? Is the TOUCH option set to OFF, Norm or Light in the performance -> EDIT-> CONTROLLER->TOUCH (second page) ? Also I don't understand what "presence" is. The forth knob controls the reverbation effect for the PCM tones.
  7. I had a blunt solution to this problem: crank the volume up, and play some loud chords, and voila, the speaker is on again. Weird.
  8. Sometimes I have the same problem, with a difference that I use both exits for stereo. Now I can't remember was that the right or the left which didn't work, I don't want to try reproducing the problem. I changed the cables, changed the amp, but I hear sound only in one speaker, the other is almost mute. Currently everything works fine, though.

https://soundcloud.com/petar-pavlovic-4/pad-improvisations A PAD sound made by me. Only 4 layers are active. The song begins with a little modification: layer 5 finetune 60, later I change it back do the default value of 59.

  13. Thanks guys ! Well, yes, those good old video game scores left a deep effect on me . And speaking about bugs, I'm thinking to compose something with them. But with a twist - undead bugs ! Where RAID had failed, there comes the brand new HOLY WATER SPRINKLER 2000 - puts the bugs back where they belong !
  14. https://soundcloud.com/petar-pavlovic-4/p1-mania Fooling around with the sequencer and with the (little bit modified) "Emo!!" tone from the latest official downloadable sound bank from CASIO. I don't know why they called it like that, it sounds like those good old synth brass tones.
  15. Since you have only an octave (without the upper C) for keyshift, you are offered to designate a breakpoint. That means, if your breakpoint is G for example, the following is happening: - by pressing keys from C to F sharp, everything is played normally from those keys - by pressing the keys from the breakpoint, in our case from G to B (or H), they are played by an octave lower. The selection of the breakpoint usually depends in which key (or tonality) are you playing, or how do you want your sequence to modulate. The keyshift can be turned ON or OFF in the KEYSHIFT menu in the TRACK PARAM. I usually turn OFF the keyshift for the drum parts, and leave it ON for the solo, chord and bass parts.
  16. As I know the position of the keyshift is always in the lowest octave to the left. Go to Step Sequencer, press EDIT -> Track Param -> Keyshift. There you can adjust the breakpoints and the way keyshift works (real time - switch immediately or wait first to finish the whole sequence). And this is for just one individual track. You must use the PART + - buttons to cycle through the rest of tracks.
  17. I studied piano for 10 or so years, managed to play some harder pieces... Then I bought my P1, and still learning the secrets of sound synthesis. So I'm more of a keyboardist and lesser synthesist.
  18. Today I asked myself the same question. B - waveforms have a split, so they sound only in lower octave, this implies they are for bass sounds ? L - leads ??? Anyone ?
  19. Get some black isolating tape, and tape every blue led on the XW. Orange is the negative of blue as I know
  20. Thanks for the quick reply Mike ! The thing is, I want to keyshift with the lower keys. So if I set my HEX Layer tone to Channel 14 Solo 1, I can keyshift with my little finger, and the upper tone will be played by my thumb to get an octave. That should work.
  21. How can I set a HEX Layer tone to play the Chord part in the sequencer ? I just want a simple two note octave.
  22. I don't really see your logic in VGA/HDMI out. I have an XW-P1 and I can connect it to my PC via USB, and then in the Data Editor can edit all the parameters, looking at my HD desktop monitor. On the other hand, if you wish for many buttons and knobs on your keyboard, then you won't really need a large LCD display, or any display at all, except for the tone bank numbers to see.
  23. I don't think Casio will make any apps for Android or any other platform except Apple. I suspect that Casio and Apple have some kind of a deal. It is apparent from all the XW's presentations, they always mention how cool is their rubber pad because you can put there your iPad. Which is a little bit weird - Casio, producing affordable but clever things on one side, and Apple well known about their overpriced products.
  24. I usually use an office chair, and the armrests don't bother me at all.
