  1. I managed to get my hands on a pair of XW-H3 headphones, and I am loving them.  I got the gray and red XW-H3's to go with my XW-G1 synth.  I also have the XW-P1 synth.  Now I just need the XW-J1 to finish up the XW series.  :)

Anyway, I am very impressed with the XW-H headphones.  They sound great, and they do a really nice job of isolating outside noise.  They are also very comfortable, and I love the way they fold and twist.  :D

This is an Excel Spreadsheet that you can use to easily sort, filter and find tones on the Casio XW-G1. The important columns are as follows:

Column A = Preset or User
    Column B = Group Name
    Column C = Bank - Number
    Column D = Tone Name
    Column F = Program Change
Column L = Bank Select MSB

This may speed you up if you are trying to pick the perfect sound inside of Sonar or another program using the Instrument Definition Files.

  4. File Name: Casio XW-G1 Cakewalk Sonar Instrument Definition File

This is a Cakewalk Sonar Instrument Definition File for the Casio XW-G1. It will allow you to access all of the sounds on the XW-G1 from inside of Sonar, Cakewalk, Reaper, or any other program that uses the .INS instrument definition file format. :)

In this revision I corrected the name of the GM Harp sound (P180, Program 46, Bank 0).

This file was based on Mike Martin's Casio XW-P1 V 0.5 Instrument Definition File.

This is a modified Cakewalk Sonar Instrument Definition File for the Casio XW-P1. It will allow you to access all of the sounds on the XW-P1 from inside of Sonar, Cakewalk, Reaper, or any other program that uses the .INS instrument definition file format.

In this revision I added bank 100 (User PCM Melody) and bank 125 (User Drums) to Mike Martin's V 0.5 Instrument Definition File.

Now we can access 100 more user tones (piano, strings/brass, guitar/bass, synth and various) and 10 user drum kits. B)

  6. I wanted to be able to use my Casio XW-G1 in Cakewalk as well as my XW-P1, so I built a Cakewalk Sonar Instrument Definition File based on the one Mike Martin did for the XW-P1.   B)   You can download it here.

    Casio XW-G1 INS.zip

I tested it with a 4-track MIDI file setting two tracks to synths, and two tracks to drums, and it seems to work well. Please let me know if you have any problems with it.

  7. That was the missing step Mike.  I forgot about edit mode, and I didn't scroll down enough on the page I downloaded the firmware update from.  The update worked now, and both of my XW's are running on 1.10.  Thanks Mike.  Thank you, too Scott for your response.

For anyone else updating their firmware: you have to press the POWER, EDIT and WRITE buttons at the same time to put the XW in UPDATE mode.  ;)
