A Stage Setting inspired by what was started during Live Clinic #2....although the final product went a different direction. Sliders 1-2 control filter for the pad. Knobs 1-4 control the sound of the arpeggiated part. Enjoy. Audio Demo: https://soundcloud.com/casiomusicgear/casio-px-5s-orbiting
  2. File Name: HerbiesRoadz (Updated) File Submitter: Mike Martin File Submitted: 16 Oct 2013 File Category: PX-5S Stage Settings UPDATED: Yet another Rhodes Stage Setting. The velocity response on this one is completely different from anything else in the PX-5S. It has a very nice soft touch but is also very expressive. Stage Setting HerbiesRoadz.ZPF and HexLayer (TouchEP1.ZLT) included. Controls: Slider 1: Distortion Gain (Off by default) Slider 2: Speaker (Bypassed by Default) Slider 3: "Bell Tone" Slider 4-6: Standard Effects. Knobs 1-4: EQ Stereo Tremolo is done using the Arpeggiator. If you want to turn it off just press the Arpeggiator button...no depth control sorry. But you can adjust speed with TEMPO. Variations: New version with Phaser also attached. Click here to download this file

New for the PX-560 is this "Dreamy Roadz" Electric Piano. This is a Hex Layer tone so a Hex Layer category tone must be selected in Upper1 before going to the Media menu to load this file. This is a tone with a narrow amplitude dynamic range that is still highly expressive and will fit great in a mix. Make yourself a custom registration with some extra reverb and perhaps layer the SilkSmooth2 tone also found here on the forum.
  5. File Name: Blade Runner (PX-5S) File Submitter: Mike Martin File Submitted: 22 Aug 2013 File Category: PX-5S Stage Settings Modeled after the famous introduction song by Vangelis in the movie Blade Runner, this is a 2 zone Stage Setting with a synth string and CS-80 style lead. Washed in reverb (as it should be). Pedal 2 will hold the filter open. Similar to this version original done for the XW-P1 Click here to download this file

I've probably spent more time on this Stage Setting than any other. This is a 4 zone Stage Setting set up as follows: Zone1: Strings Zone2: Pad Zone3: Synth Arp Zone4: Piano Sliders 1-4 correspond to volume of each of those. It starts with the volume of zones 1-3 set to 0. Slider 5 is a wonderful stereo panning delay for the piano part. What makes this Stage Setting different is the way each of the parts are voiced. This Stage Setting is "radio ready" or performance ready in that it utilizes a narrow amplitude dynamic range while still remaining remarkably expressive. Pedal 2 is an essential element of this Stage Setting as it is set up to toggle the filter. This allows this Stage Setting to breath. This is an especially unique and powerful aspect of the PX-5S. Enjoy.

  9. I'm just picking up Keyboards. I've played Clarinet, Classical Guitar (hobby), Electric Guitar and Bass in local bands and then set up a number of cover bands. Now I'm picking up Keyboards because the band I'm working on getting into already has a talented bass player. The PX-5S is an impressive keyboard. I bought one. Would have bought the 560 model but the guy in Guitar Center didn't realize there was a newer model and neither did I .... would have bought the PX-560. Beside the obvious great points of these keyboards, personally I was very impressed with the videos that Mike Martin put out, as well as others. Just starting out I had already bought a used Roland Fantom and a used Yamaha Motif which are old keyboards but good ones, but when I saw the videos on the Privia 5S model I was blown away. I wasn't planning on getting a newer high end model for some time. Those videos sold me on the 5S as well as the fact that Casio is serious about the support they are putting behind them. I had already downloaded a ton of practical videos and sounds and so forth before I even bought the 5S. I plan on purchasing the 560 model ASAP. I have to be ready with a bunch of songs in a couple weeks and I'm sure the 560 model will help speed that up. Thank you Mike Martin! And please put out some clinic videos on the 560 model as soon as possible! Bob Brown the CityCats! P.S. Thanks also to Chuck Gilmore, aka PianoManChuck, who has put out some fantastic videos as well. I'm going to attempt to get my local music store to push the Privia line and especially the stage pianos! I don't think they realize what Casio has...

It is so easy to be inspired by the Minimoog. Such as classic design and sound that is still sought after today. While being a digital synthesizer, the XW-series can do a pretty remarkable job of mimicking those classic Moog sounds. The Minimoog had 3 oscillators plus a noise generator and although the XW has a 4th oscillator in its Solo Synth engine - all of these sounds were crafted with the original in mind. A set of 10 Leads and basses, the specialties of the Minimoog. Separate versions above for the XW-P1 and XW-G1. Note that by design, some of the bass sounds will only function in the bottom three octaves of the keyboard. http://youtu.be/8XG5zQ9_lw8

A Hex Layer used for piano. Utilizing 5 layers which slightly different pitch key tracking to create a naturally detuned acoustic piano sound. Great for Ragtime.
