Davis
hello my casiotone mt68 turns off after a few minutes if not being played. i would understand this if it was running on batteries, but its on a power supply. any insight would be appreciated. thank you
Davis
i suppose thats what they do, for some reason. My 1000P doesnt do it though
Chas
I believe this is a common feature of many older Casios that run on batteries as well as with an AC adapter. If I recall correctly, it's called "APO" (Automatic Power Off), and if the keyboard is switched on and left idle (no keys or buttons pressed for more than a few minutes), it will automatically switch itself off. Even if it's powered by the adapter. Some battery and mains adapter powered Casios, such as the CZ101, have a switch that can turn off this feature, but the lesser model Casios don't. The CT1000P is mains powered only, hence does not have the auto power off feature. Love the MT68/ 65 models by the way! Great beats and rhythms on those
Davis
yes, good sounds, bit impractical for live though!
Jokeyman123
I can verify this not specifically for the MT68, but my older Casio "consumer" keyboards all did this, even when I used the adapters. I just got an MT600, I will check this out today with that one.
Davis
fortunately i have a cz101 as well on which the turning off thing is switched off- never even noticed the switch was there!. nice to communicate with other casiotone folk
Chas
You've come to the right place! Most of us have more than one Casio. Some of us (ahem!) have quite a few of them!
CYBERYOGI =CO=Windler
APO can be disabled by wiring a diode from CPU pin 45 to 53 (identified by Robin Whittle; the SMD IC pins would be delicate to solder directly, so simply follow PCB traces). Technically this is an unused keyboard matrix place that turns APO off.
Kostas
On my WK1800 which I love because of its pattern sequencer the effect with switching off developed over some time. It turned off while playing. First it started after some minutes, became earlier than and in the end it was not possible to switch it on any more. When I connect a power supply to the battery contacts it works with the normal APO behaviour. So it must be the power input. I had a look at the power circuit board but did not see obvious things as run out capacitors. Cyberyogi do you have an advice for this too?
